MvC3: 2/3rds: The Morrigan Team Building Thread

Probably just tired of giving Chris charity money. Ryu is neat, but he just can’t get the job done over time.

I’ve been playin mag morri doom, and find a good use for disruptah for morrigan is getting a safe(er) astral activation. Ill call mag and down down etc.

Already switched to missiles after like 20 min of using the team in game. I will be playing it but probably not maining the team until after seasons beatings

nothing to do with chris. Summer Jam just opened up my eyes

Who got you there?
I was watching only Yipes matches…

his Dante give me a hard on :stuck_out_tongue:

For what its worth, I’ve been starting mag so he can runaround and mix up missiles and harmonizers, as shockwave dhc astral is a good safe way to get the morridoom engine started safely.

Basically if you want to play a safe calculated game even against nutty players and zero/vergil users, you need missiles. Anything less than missiles will mean youll get hit by something stupid eventually. Missiles are that insurance for when that happens.

The best zoning players right are using and winning with missiles and theres a reason for that.

I’m not using Missiles!

Better start doing so soon then. Morrigan cant reach her full potential without them (thats a lot of characters but still).

Only other assist thats as good for Morrigan as missiles, is Vajra. Drones is ok with Morrigan but they’re pretty much only good for her rushdown and really not for zoning. Missiles do everything for her though outside of being a gtfo assist.

That reminds me, Morrigan/Doom/Haggar is a really good defensive team. Haggar assist makes her even less prone to getting hit by something stupid and she can get full MMH xx H soul fist, unfly, addf, H soul fist etc combos off of it. Only problem with that team is that it falls apart almost completely if morrigan dies. You kinda have a chance if you know how to play a decent solo doom but thats it.

I know this is kind of 101, but anyone have, or can point me to(since I can’t be the first to ask), any advice on executing Morri’s FB couplets? I’ve got her movement down well, astral activations, rushdown maneuvers, etc. But damnit even offline ill often whiff a 2nd fb or unfly or whatever. I’m not exactly new to quarter circling (or half circling, which I’ve tried). But I just can’t get this down. I’m sure the gut response is “just practice,” but I’ve been doing that ad nauseum, and wonder if there are any tips for how best to practice it. Maybe a timing description, or common reasons it can fail, yadda yadda.

I’m embarrassed to ask this, but I don’t wanna drop morri for such a dumb reason. But its costing me won games! Lol team. Is mag morri doom, for what its worth. Thanks!

In my video of her B&B you can hear my stick’s buttons, it may helps you.

Most of the time if I miss an input during Soul Fist spam it’s because I’m going to fast. Try slowing down and making sure the stick snaps back to neutral. If you;re on pad, I have no idea.

They I like to practice the soul fist spam if I have been missing it a lot is to break it down to it’s most simple form. I just do it very slowly and then when my hands get comfortable with the motion I just try to do it a little bit faster. It’s also a rhythm that you get used to. I like to cue it by the sounds.

So have we decided who the best teammate for Morrigan/Doom? Magneto is good for zoning and his synergy with Dr. Doom is amazing.

It’s pretty much Mags if you want a point in front of Morri, and Ammy if you want an assist and capable anchor behind Doom, but there’s still variety available either way.

Thanks for the pointers, I expected ridicule lol. I’ve really been likin mag in front, but id played a lot of mag doom too, so was kind of a serendipitous idea. Its cool to see other good players coming to similar conclusions. It should alsobe said that chris G’s choice of akuma def isn’t arbitrary. Its a very powerful assist for morri and doom-synergist anchor. Id prob give akuma the nod over ammy for morri doom xxx, but ammy also seems like a good choice. Felicia too could be strong a la JJJ, and works well with doom a la shady k.

Cold Star is better than Tatsu for mix ups, better for doom in general, and then you get the 'follow my lead" gameplan as a back up. Tatsu is very good for the start of the round, but after that, while still good, just loses a lot of oomph on the team.

Personally, I very much dislike the Point/Doom/Morrigan orders for the most part though, as you end up needing 3 bars to DHC to AV. I get Doom second for TAC damage and all, but I tend to like bringing Morrigan in before my point character dies.

It is quite common to use 2nd character you intend to throw to the 3rd spot as soon as possible

Yeah I don’t think id ever want to play xxx doom morri. Xxx morri doom far better.

Hawkeye Doom Morrigan has amazing synergy. If Hawkeye ends up on anchor he can definitely hold it down. He also gains plenty of meter himself. This was the team I ran before learning Magnegro. People get extra salty about the keepaway. I was using Morrigans shadow blade assist and it worked a little better

I’ve been starting to take Magneto/Doom/Morrigan seriously as one of my A-teams (although I’m desperately missing a full screen assist punish DHC and Doom with no neutral game assist is yuck), but what would you guys say would be the optimal order for this trio? Right now I’m playing it sort of Phoenix-style where my Mag/Doom duo wreck shop while I’m building dumb amounts of meter with Dark Harmonizer, corner resets, and TACs into Doom loops and then get Morrigan in for bullet hell but I’ve been seeing a good amount of point Morrigan variants. Does she have particularly good start of the round options to warrant her on point over Mags?
