Got for Morrigan/Strange/Vergil XD
Lol I have absolutely no idea about Dr. Strange, any basic synergy tips he has with Morrigan (i.e. how is Strange used in Morrigan’s keepaway/rushdown)? I’m sure I can find more strategies in the Dr. Strange subforum, but it’d be great to have a few starting tips. Thanks for the suggestion!
I figured I’d post my team progress:
I spent a good amount of time in training mode, and landed my first full Morrigan double Soul Fist combo! (j.S, s.LMH, f.H, j.MMH, qcf.H, qcb.S addf, j.H, qcf.H, qcb.S, s.S, sj.MMH, dp.M/H, qcf.AA) I actually did it quite a few times in a row, which felt pretty good. I’ve had to do my own single Soul Fist variant for a while now.
XF3 Vergil with DT on does 400K chip damage with Dimension Slash. WTF.
I found out that Vergil can DHC glitch to Morrigan. I didn’t mess with it a lot, but she can definitely start doing a Soul Fist loop from that point. Throw, Devil Trigger, Astral Vision, Soul Fist loop. As with any other throw -> tag situation, the Soul Fists don’t seem to suffer from damage decay, since just landing 2 of them did 240K. I’ll mess with it more some other time, though.
Landed Helm Breaker, Dark Hole, High Rise (df.H’s name, right?), j.S once. Hard as hell, not sure if I’ll be able to do it for a long time. Since someone discovered that you can Spiral Swords, High Rise, Lunar Phase to OTG someone after Helm Breaker, but that’s way too hard for me, I might try and do Helm Breaker, Dark Hole, Spiral Swords, High Rise to see what happens. I don’t care about the damage scaling, I’d just like some way to benefit from happy birthdays without blowing X-Factor when I catch them on a Helm Breaker.
Did my first sword loop. The c.H after Judgment Cut L is hard as heck to get out. Not sure why. I might end my loops early for a while like some noobs do.
Tried to do the Dimension Slash -> Stalking Flare -> 3D0C combo, but my j.S wasn’t spiking. Not sure why.
Gah, the hitstun decay on f.H is just brutal for Dormammu. I can’t seem to get anything more than this combo going:
j.S, c.LHS, sj.MMHS, dash, call Rapid Slash, Flame Carpet, f.H, Dark Hole, Chaotic Flame.
In corners I get a full relaunch, so this is mostly an issue with mid-screen. I’d like to be able to get more, just so I can get the Dark Harmonizer call in.
If I call Rapid Slash at the same time I throw Dark Matter, they always combo. I can wait for Rapid Slash to hit before I teleport, and then air dash into j.S for a full combo.
Starting a round by throwing Round Trip and canceling into Devil Trigger provides ALMOST enough time to combo off the Round Trip after a hard tag. AAAAALMOST. Still a fantastic way to start rounds if I want Morrigan or Dormammu on point. People are too scared of Vergil to start near him.
I haven’t played morrigan and strange together yet, but i can already see some benefits.

[]His bolts assist keeps opponent on the ground if you land it. Some characters like to duck it, so a quick air dash into S could catch you a free combo… otherwise, stick to some soul spam and get that chip in.
[]Safe DHC into morrigan from anywhere on screen. Not quite tested as for range goes, so if morrigan comes in next to your opponent he MAY be able to punish. Outside of that, if you have doom on the team… strange combo into hyper, immediate DHC to morrigan! now the opponent is high in the air, giving a virtually safe doom assist call, and you can start spamming the soul fists.
[]daggars have homing, so if your opponent is super jump flying away from your soul fists, you can use these to bring him back down fairly quick (as long as he isn’t crazy man dashing around at the top).
[]his counter hyper is available if for some reason your having issues getting into astral vision due to hawkeye or magneto fast projectiling you. However, due to slow startup on morrigans hypers, it may be better to just punish with her shoryuken hyper.
[*]again, this is theory fighting and untested, but an idea i just got. With strange you may be able to impact palm high in air, teleport, counter hyper into morrigans lvl3. Untested and should probably only be used to kill off a final character or high priority character.

Thats all i got for now. I’ll play around with it sometime and report back any other findings or ideas i get.

Just a little something to stimulate your imagination. I’ve used Morrigan with just about all of the other characters I’m good with including Dr. Strange. They have some amazing synergy. I use EoA as a defensive tool for Morrigan.
Ohhhhhh I remember seeing this a while back when I first started learning Morrigan; I can’t believe I forgot about that! That setup is so dirrrrrrrty. I’ll play around with EoA; I’m liking the juggle that it can offer. Looking at that vid, it seems like he gets nearly 9-10 fireballs on the opponent, that’s super-potent if I can incorporate the setup into my gameplay. Thanks so much!!!
@AmishMan53: thanks so much for the Strange tips! I’m definitely gonna try them out when I get back in the lab! Onto learning Strange!
IF you choose to use the Bolts assist you can dash towards your opponent with jump, addf [air dash down forward] , shellkick, jump, addf, shellkick to get a nice hit confirm. You just basically learn how to ‘wave dash’ with Morrigan although hers isnt your normal wave dash.
Strange with Bolts can also clear almost any other assist on the screen (Sentinal or Doom)
I’m thinking of dropping ryu for morrigan. So it’ll be Morri/Mag/Sent. any tips/vids ??
I guess that Morrigan and Sentinal work well together by throwing stuff on the screen and such.
Morrigan can also benefit highly from corner pressure as she can tri jump almost as Mag.
I’m not sure she benefit much from Magneto beam, maybe for clearing other assists from the screen, but other then that I think it is too fast for her to capitalize on that.
I guess that TAC options from Morri to Mag is ok (not Doom level), unless you can infinite, infinities are good.
I’m not even sure what to do with Drones other than use them to get in and run mix ups. You can use her up dash for left rights really well during drones, and of course the standard activate fly S or cancel fly in s.L hi low.
Not entirely certain, but I think Drones can be used like Eye of Agamotto for Soul Drain combos with AV, something like (combo starter) c.H, 6H (call drones) xx Soul Fist H xx Astral Vision Soul Drain, fly soul drain unfly, jMMH xx Soul Fist etc combos. Not exactly sure on the timing, but it should be long enough to get at least one drain off before having to finish the combo. Check a couple of posts above yours where the strange video is quoted and try subbing drones for eye.
As far as Morri and Mags work together, Morri doesn’t get too terribly much off Disruptor as said other than counter calls, or just more durability on screen. Magnus is pretty king at protecting Harmonizer though, and adding another 30% meter to every Magneto combo is always a nice thing. Finishing Shower is decent damage in a DHC after tempest, and vice versa, but they don’t have too much DHC synergy past that and using Shockwave DHCs to cover AV activations. Hyper Grav assist can also get you Soul Drains, but well, Hyper Grav assist.
Being helpful with two characters I am complete ass with is difficult.
Mmmm, I wonder if Morrigan can connect Shadow Blade > Finishing Shower after dhc in with FS
Should be able to, Morrigan’s only air action would be FS, and if it’s on the ground there’d be no air actions used. Minimum hit stun on FS always allows for the follow up.
Into another Tempest?
Almost like 4 Supers in the corner with Ryu lol
You can soulfist -> fly> disruptor assist and full screen hit confirm, just get .5 seconds of forward momentum before your forward dash so it’s a lot faster. Magneto’s assist, just like trish’s voltage, is a really good rush down assist where you try to play up from mid screen, put them into block stun or hit with disruptor and continue your pressure/confirm off of it.
The thing that stinks for that team is no OTG other than shadow servant or shockwave, no lockdown since no doom or strider…feels like you’re forced to rush down, with 2 horizontal assists (one fast one slow)
No lockdown with Sentinal? You know that Sentinal is the definition of lockdown.
You should watch the Darchon videos, like the one at the top of the page. Some of the material is pretty basic, but he has some really useful stuff.
Gefen, apologies - I meant in regards to astral vision. I could be wrong, but I feel like It’d be easy to superjump over sentinels drones since nothing is forcing you back down. Not saying it can’t be done, but there’s no vertical assist pushing down. That being said, as a rush down assist for her, it’d be fantastic and you can definitely take advantage of it, but astral vision won’t be as potent on that team.
Woo!! Your Ryu is pretty sick, but I really hope you give Morrigan a try. How Chris G showed just how devastating her zoning can be, I think you could do the same for her rushdown. Her high/lows are very good and you can connect a j.L from nearly halfscreen away if you ADD immediately. Protecting Sent is a piece of cake with Morrigan as Soul Fist should catch anyone trying to harm him. One thing to note though is that you should be using Soul Fist H a lot more, compared to M and L. When people see Drones they’re instinct is SJ over them, so you will want to have her SF H to bar that option.
I personally feel that Disruptor is one of her best assists because it really helps against other zoning teams. Dorm is a nightmare usually, but Disruptor allows me to both zone and rushdown against him more freely. As an assist it does what Chris’ Hawkeye does as a point character, interrupts all of Dorm moves. Aslo don’t neglect to look at Hyper Grav as an assist either. It gives her some interesting combo extensions, but personally I really like Disruptor in the neutral.
As for combos I do have a couple of extensions with Drones, but they’re really not all that great and you’ll probably come up with something better within a week. One thing I would like to note, though, is the hitstun after Drones hit. If you look in my combo thread I have 3 main BnBs. BnB1 is really finicky after a Drone confirm, and you have to cut BnB2 in half otherwise they’ll drop. BnB3, however, can be done fully.
Finally, I’m actually starting to prefer Morrigan’s Shadowblade assist over Harmonizer. My Morrigan isn’t zoning based so I don’t really need meter. Magneto can easily confirm off of it on hit, and on block it actually has enough blockstun for a quick high/low. The damage scaling on it is pretty rough, but resetting with Drones is easy enough. With Sentinel you can do those really ambiguous incoming mixups by flying and calling her assist and then j.S for an easy confirm. Furthermore you can just do that throughout the whole match and people will get caught by it often. Eventually it’ll make people antsy and they’ll jump right into Sentinel to try to prevent you from calling anymore. Once they start doing that, you can just stick out those ridiculous limbs for easy combos.
Thats all I really have. You’re already my fav player to watch, so you picking up Morrigan is just too awesome.
If you hit your opponent with disruptah at point blank range with Morrigan you can confirm with s :l: . Other than that its just a quick, full beam assist to keep folks honest from full screen. Drones can be used as screen filler at the bottom of the screen while you soul-spam from the top of the screen.
It’s basically a reverse of the team I’m trying to run which is Morrigan/Doom/Magneto
edit: RayRay wants to learn Morrigan? It’s crazy cause I started watching a lot of you and Yipes play Magneto when I was picking him up. I’ve always liked him and Morrigan together.
