MvC3: 2/3rds: The Morrigan Team Building Thread

Ah, thanks for the help.
Yeah, my ‘team’ is point Morrigan, Dante 2nd, and whoever on anchor lol. DHCs between the two of them are quite good in either direction, but I’ve still yet to find a 3rd that I really like. Doom has probably been the most successful, but I hate playing him last. Same with the robot and his drones.

Lately I’ve been thinking about Ammy, Felicia, and now Strider. All 3 are scary with XF but aren’t terrible without it, though damage output is a bit on the low side. Ammy has the best DHCs (I wonder if Shadow Servant > Vale of Mist can be followed up midscreen? Gonna have to try it out) and I like Cold Star’s lockdown for Morrigan, but it’s not really the greatest assist for Dante. Unless you enjoy struggling to break 400k, lol.

On the other hand, Felicia and Strider have crap DHC compatibility, but their assists are fantastic for Dante. I think I prefer Rolling Buckler for Morrigan, too. Why can’t I have a lockdown, low hitting, tracking assist with hard knockdown properties, dammit!

deadpool?

eh, I prefer Rolling Buckler over Quickwork. The soft knockdown is better for combo purposes, but Felicia hits them twice so it kind of locks them down, and it’s easier for Morrigan to combo off of.
I don’t really like Deadpool as anchor, either. I feel much more comfortable using him with an assist, whereas Felicia has Kitty Helper and an absurd range on her air throw, so even when XF runs out I won’t feel helpless trying to make a comeback.

Dante is cool, I love Dante, keep it.
Cats are cool, go with Felicia. :3

Is anybody running Felicia/Morrigan? I like them two together but the damage output is pretty weak and they could use an assist to get in. I’ve been using Hawkeye with them, but he doesn’t hit the hardest either.

^Felicia/Morrigan/Strider is a really really good team. Felicia with Vajra is disgusting and you can just battery for morrigan all day pretty much. Then Morrigans screen control with Vajra is equally as disgusting.

Pardon my ignorance but why is Felicia + Vajra so good? Im going to practice this squad but that would require me learning a bit of Strider, who I never even used in MvC2.

strider is great with anybody that has easy OTGs that can convert into full combos without burning resources. Doom is the most obvious example, but felicia has toy touch which does that as well.

morrigan/felecia lets you set up unblockables of high/low. Take that into consideration with team order

I want to make a zoning team with Morrigan/Dorm/Doom but I’m not sure Dorm fits in as he uses a lot of meter as well. I’m also kind of lost on what assists to use(besides missiles). There doesn’t seem to be a lot of combo synergy between them. Then again I’m not too good so maybe I’m missing something. Suggestions?

Doom gains plenty of meter…you’ll be fine!

I

Well the best character for them is Doom, but only in the assist part, also Vergil works great, rapid slash pushes the enemy to the other side of the screen so is great for morrigan, and if they try to super jump to come to you use Jam Session of Dante, vergil being an incredible stupid overpowered godlike anchor is just an added bonus.

I’ve tried Vergil a bit, and while it was nice to actually be able to do damage, all 3 characters love their meter. I was running into the same problem with Ammy; I had to decide early in the match if I wanted to spend the bar, or keep it for XF3 + Vale of Mist shenanigans. And Rapidslash is a good assist, but I don’t really like it for Dante outside of combos.

Like you said, Hidden Missiles is the best choice. And if it comes down to anchor Doom, meter isn’t going to make that comeback much easier (and he can build his own just fine anyway.)
I’ll use that low assist on another team, probably

What is Morrigan’s best assist for strom?

There really isn’t one. It would probably be Dark Harmonizer since Storm would likely use some meter.

Hailstrom spam time

Hey guys, I’ve been learning Morrigan for the last few months and I’ve got to say, she is hellafun to play. I’ve started to incorporate the bullet hell aspect into my game, even though I’m much more comfortable with rushing down. I’ve been running Morrigan (Dark Harmonizer)/Doom (Hidden Missiles)/Vergil (Rapid Slash, and since Vergil on anchor is insane). My question is not so much a team building question than it is a team-operating question.

I’ve noticed recently that when I’m calling Doom Missiles either to give myself some leeway in rushing down or keeping away, I feel like I’m a little assist-happy, as Doom’s been getting beaten up REALLY badly. My question is that when you’re using MorriDoom, when is the right time to call in Hidden Missiles (any key patterns I should be looking out for in my opponent’s gameplay)? I feel like some times the timing is perfect, but more often than not I’m pretty much spamming the assist button whenever I have Morrigan out. I want to eliminate this button mashing aspect out of my game, so I’m hoping that by recognizing certain patterns against my opponent, I can call the assist properly and, quite frankly, save Doom so I can do some damage with him just in case I lose Morrigan.

Thanks so much, and I’m really sorry if I’ve posted this in the wrong thread!

Realistically, its not up to you to find a time to call him, as much as it is to just cover him when he is out. Its the other guys responsibility to scope out your assist calls and kill doom whenever possible, sinces that pretty much the only consistent way to beat that team, along with hitting her within the first five seconds of the match.

but if you want to be safer about it, the best time to call doom is after your opponent super jumps, because it means that they cant get down to the ground to punish doom for it. and the only bad time to call him is if your opponent a. has a full screen beam super, b. has meter/x factor to burn (but they wont use x factor because they need it to deal with virgil…) and c. doesnt already have a fireball flying at them from behind.

if all three of those factors are available, and they feel like going for the gusto, your doom might be dead at that point, but if not, all hes going to do is eat minor chip damage.

Plus, try to make sure you are in the air, if they get doom, no need to let them have the succubus too. hell, you might even will be able to punish

oh yeah, don’t pick MorriDoom

I’ve tried to avoid having Morrigan and Doom at the same location whenever I call in the assist (I call in Doom and then I take to the air/start the rushdown) to try and save Doom, but I’ll definitely take what you guys said into account.

LOL. I’m totally open to try out any other character, as long as I can keep Vergil and Morrigan on there. The Doom Missiles is just insane: OTGs and a great keepaway tool? It just makes life so much easier. I have been trying out Zero/Morrigan/Vergil (LLs proving to be difficult for me on a consistent basis, but he’s my dawg) and a zoning-style Wesker (either Wesker/Morrigan/Vergil or Vergil/Morrigan/Wesker; the OTG assist helps with Vergil combos). Any other suggestions?
