MvC2 Xbox 360/PS3 bug database & reporting thread

I just doubt marvel’s ability to work well on two sytstems in general. Not that I know much about coding but all i’ve heard about Marvel is it’s crazy. :wonder: recycled memory in the game? Heh, it sounds to me like there’s a bunch of really random programing quirks that get fucked up in online’s auto-correct. Considering how long it takes online to recorrect a jump into a wiffed trijump low-short, I could imagine two systems having a hard time auto-correcting all of the off-screen programming between both systems. If it can drop inputs online couldn’t it also drop key off-screen programming data?

Ok, so I’m sort of fed up with this one Ironman issue on the new mvc2 versions…

PS3/XB360 Issue: Greatly Increased Chances characters falling through Proton Cannon (including characters who practically never fall out of PC & situations where characters practically never fall through)

[details=Spoiler]Generally on the DC/arcade versions, in the corner on certain characters (tron, doom, cable just to name a few) when you are infiniting them and combo to PC…the characters have a possibilty of ‘falling out’.

This is not very good for IM of course and can possibly mess up a game he might have won (or might have been ‘coming back’ from, or even a perfect he would’ve got). Now IM players pretty much know how to stop it from happening on DC/Arc. You either want to do 2 reps straight up so that you get pushed out far enough (or if DHCing from magnus, DHC when they are higher up) OR PC when they have enough life where they won’t die before a certain time (where you will be pushed back to the correct position).

When PC is comboing, it pushes you back a few times. when you are too close to the wall and your opponent has died (and is one of the certain characters), during a pushback the character will fall through…totally ruining any GB attempt (and even in some cases leaving you totally open for attack from the incoming character). So on DC/arcade, there are way to stop this pretty much from happening[/details]

on XBOX/PS3 this is not the case. for some reason, characters fall through PC in cases they never would’ve. also, characters who don’t generally fall through PC do fall through. For one, it seems that the pushback to the safe position takes a really long time to happen. so even if the opponent has considerable life, a PC after 1 rep jumping up (which would normally kill the opponent but also ensure he doesn’t fall through) fucks up on XB/PS. Even when going back 2 reps, and they have only a bit of life, they pretty much should never fall through but they have.

This is the same during DHCs, there are times where the opponent should not fall through, but do. Even worse, like I mentioned, characters that pretty much never fall through do too. Then IM is screwed out of a GB…or worse.

I’ve never gotten so many fall throughs from PC. of course, I’ve had to adjust my ways a bit on XB/PS mvc2 to try and avoid this…but there are still times and situations where it randomly happens. or there are times where you have a choice between 2 situations (going for PC or not doing a PC in corner [either letting them live or being forced to do the PC midscreen]) but are screwed either way because of that fall through that would never happen on DC/Arc.

You then also have to bring dizzying into account too. there will be situations where you need to Proton Cannon to kill because they may dizzy out soon…but depending on their life, screen position, how far you are from corner, dizzy counter after going out and coming back in…you can be screwed because they will fall through when they shouldn’t. yay, either choose between them dizzying out, falling through, or letting them live even :confused: this sucks for IM

Normally, I wouldn’t care…it just pisses me off a lot playing on XB/PS…but since it seems we will be trying to make PS3 the tourney standard for marvel (ugh…) this is something that hurts Ironman’s game quite a bit imo and I would love for it to be fixed.

I haven’t been in this thread in a while so I’m not sure if it was talked about but I started playing more and more blackhearts online and it feels like his demons stick to you when they are not suppose to in arcade.

For example, he does s. rh and hits you with demons, then he does super, in arcade, the demons disappear automatically when a super is activated and demons are on you while you are flat on the ground. In XBL, they stay on.

There are more funny stuff with demons, but its hard to explain. I just know that they are suppose to go away when more demons are called out. So if Im stuck with demons and he does jumping rh, the ones on me are suppose to come off unless i’m bouncing in the infinite.

I know it’s dumb, but I’m fucking stoked to have captured a phantom loss on tape last night.

I RANDOMLY decided to try to catch one on tape, and it happened the very first first match that I played. Woot!

I wonder…does anybody experience lag issues whenever somebody plays Spiderman or Magneto? I have yet to fight somebody online and not see a Spidey warping all over the place, or Mags missing serious frames whenever he flies across the screen.

i’ve played quite a few lagless spidey and magneto. especially my friends when there ping is like ~30, it seems perfect

Huh. Probably my bad luck that I keep getting zippy Spideys and Mags, then.

don’t know if it was already posted, but I had an invisible character glitch in a player match yesterday. I did quick match option, and picked Omega Red, Colossus, Dr. Doom (Team A.I.) and as soon the as the match began, I couldn’t see Omega Red at all. So I had to tag out to Colossus, and after he died, it was back to invisible Omega Red. I immediately tagged out to Doom and a few seconds later my xbox freezes :wasted:

Any time you’re seeing bogus sprites onscreen, kill the “bogus” characters AS SOON AS POSSIBLE and don’t press any buttons with them. Otherwise when it tries to load a sprite it can’t find, your box will crash or freeze. So doing supers or specials with “Cable who looks like Roll” would be a bad plan. Just let that character die while doing as little as possible.

Got the usual blacked out character slot/scrambled character/normal guy, round started and my opponent had Nobody/Ruby Heart/ Storm (only Storm was accurate). I was playing Ryu/Thanos/Doom. Ryu came out at one point as Thanos. I TKd a couple lp fireballs but they came out as sprite-height chunks of wall a la Reality super, which appeared for a moment, slid forward a foot, and flopped to the ground and vanished. They actually caused good damage! It was my finest Thanos moment. Then, however, Thanos turned into a section of Reality wall, full height, but just one side. I could no longer move or be injured. I was a slab of wall. The opponent kept trying to attack, fruitlessly, noticed I’d win if he ran the clock, and finally left. So far that’s my favorite blooper since the Youtube vid with the 999 hit Sonson flamethrower.

That sounds like the exact same memory corruption problem. Anything where the wrong sprite set is used is going to do horrible things. They may be interesting, but they’re all side effects of bad memory usage. :frowning:

I just played a dude in ranked matches and he picked cammy,iron man, akuma and for some reason when the game started and his cammy came out she was invisible her sadow was there and you could hear her and hit her but you could not see her at all. and when she super jumped the screen got kind of messed up. anyone know what caused that?

Anything where you’re seeing the wrong sprites is just memory corruption. No matter what it is or looks like, it’s the same bug. =\

me and a friend were trying to the rush glitch w/ megaman on training mode for laughs the other night. http://www.shoryuken.com/wiki/index.php/Mega_Man_(MvC2)#The_Useless_and_Not_Practical_Rush_Glitch this glitch, also mvc2broken-rush.avi on preppy’s site. we didn’t manage to do it but some other weird shit happened, and I don’t know if it’s the same glitch or not or if it’s the 360 port being fucked up (I tried googling and searching SRK about this but nothing that looked like the info). There’s no video of the setup of the glitch and the description is kind of weird so we had to kind of figure it out on our own. The way we were doing it is back+hp grab megaman and call magneto at the same time so that megaman crosses back to the side he was thrown from by getting em disruptor’d and then venom tries to throw again while megaman tries to “HYPAAAAA”. The following things occurred:

  1. Megaman got grabbed out of the super looked pretty normal but I thought that super would be unthrowable?
  2. Megaman yelled “HYPAAAA”, the birds came out, the screen did not flash, and then venom did his standing fierce instead of throwing and megaman blocked after starting a move.
  3. Megaman yelled “tornado holdo”, the birds came out (multi wtf why would birds come out for tornado hold, the screen did not flash, and then venom did his standing fierce instead of throwing and megaman blocked after starting a move.
  4. Megaman yelled “HYPAAA”. Megaman got thrown, but he was floating about 1/2 megaman height off the floor while in the web. Attack Data on training mode said -22 damage (from megaman’s super?? I guess?)

i don’t know if these are the “normal” symptoms of the glitch but just reporting what happened. I told my friend the glitch was probably just too hard for us to do since it probably requires frame timing on both our parts but he just really wanted to try it so i helped him, I didn’t expect anything to happen at all.

I was playing on ranked on ps3 and I played some guy I forgot his name his team was blackheart, sentinel, commando vs my row but for some reason the game speed was on turbo2 and I thought all ranked matches were on turbo by default. was it a glitch or what?

They are all on Turbo 1.

so was it a glitch or what? cuz it fucked up my game and I sort of stopped for a minute but he guy just kept playing like everything was ok. is it possible that he hacked that game somehow to make it turbo 2?
