It’s not like it’s the biggest deal, but it really distracts me before the fight, and makes it seem like th ething is crashing. It happens during both transitions.

On PSN tonight I had the network disconnect every time I started to spectate after a match. If I was in a room with others and I was watching it was ok, but once I played and then lost the network would disconnect when loading the char select screen in spectate mode. This was constant and happened at least five times in five different rooms. I could rejoin the room and then spectate until my match started and then play until I lost again. I have played just fine after the patch, but this only started tonight.
This just happened to me, but I won. Right as I won, I think at the three character victory pose ‘You Win’ screen, I got a network connection failure. Checked, and sure enough the guy I beat down was still playing; it registered as if I dropped during the game.
The timing and all is just too damn coincidental to be an accident in my mind.
The other day i pick omega/ruby anti air
ruby assist midgame was replaced by ironman smart bomb assist(which somehow became unblockable…and let me otg like psylocke)
then when i tag to ruby(who is now ironman) it seems as if it only partially loaded his character animations. i was only able to do neutral fp.
srry if its old,
this shit needs another patch:xeye:
The wrong graphics being loaded is a memory corruption error evidently due to sloppy programming in the original arcade game that just never got fixed over the years and that they didn’t have a mandate to be able to go fix this release. I’d personally think that something like ZeroMemory( * ) would be an amazing and easy fix, but – that’s probably just me being confused.
You can see traces of this in the glitching Vs screen that you see from time to time on arcade machines. Evidently the networking really exposes this type of error well. =\
From what I understand.
I would love to have another patch and I’d love to help with another patch if at all possible. Unfortunately it’s a Commercial game, so I don’t think they’d be willing to let other developers help, and them having to pay the dev + test + other staff to keep working on the game — I don’t know if that would happen.
I suspect part of the problem here is that while Capcom likes the game, it doesn’t seem like they have many (any?) passionate Marvel players on staff.
On black heart theres something that wasnt in arcade version. On arcade version when someone gets hit by the kick demons and the inferno is thrown the demons let go and you are free to move and block, and in the ps3 version the demons dont let go and you get hit by the inferno. Im not sure if its the same in xbox cuz I dont have one, and im not sure if its a bug or something they changed or overlooked.
Does anybody else notice that the timing for the PS3 vs X360 online match openers seem off? Even relative to the DC… the x360 match opening seems to skip two frames(?) initially, while the PS3 seems to play a frame or two, miss a frame, and then continue.
I may be totally off, but I’ve very much been noticing that on the PS3 a match opener that works great on arcade DC and X360 just doesn’t seem to work at all. I’ll keep trying and see if I can figure it out. Maybe my timing is just off. =\
Having jumped on a PS3 setup recently after playing heavily on XBL for months, I have to say that I like the 360 internet play so far. It seems, at least from my limited experience that PS3 looks more choppy, but plays at a stable speed, whereas XBL matches seem to skip a bunch when the connection is bad, but looks smoother otherwise.
Although honestly, I remember 360 Marvel looked a lot more choppy when it dropped than it does to me now, so maybe I’m just used to it. bigshrug
I know what you mean about getting a feeling about a general amount of frame skips, but IMO if you can see the skip-- its gotta be a lot more than a frame or two, right? Unless you’re talking duration of chuggage. That’s a technical term btw. If I had to put a number on it, I’d say 360 Marvel skips 4,000 frames at the opener :]
…
For local matches I don’t really notice any frame issues on ps3 at the start. Online matches are a different story but I thinks that’s somewhat to be expected.
I did run into an interesting glitch online where all the sprites for dr. dooms rocks became the hulk… and seemingly could not be blocked… imagine 30 unblockable hulks flying across the screen at you like a cloud of bugs… now thats some mean shit…lol
Graphics glitches like that mean the game’s memory is fucked/corrupt. It’s not a “bug” at that point - it’s a manifestation of an earlier bug. The game should actually have crashed and might very soon. =
ZeroMemory anyone?
By that reference, I mean that certain attack windows seem to be unreliable. For example, Megaman’s standing jab is a one frame attack, so that gives an excellent … frame of reference. =\
…
As I recall it locked up toward the end of the match… requiring me to reboot the console.
Ouch that pun actually hurt PrepStar :crap: :crap: :crap:
How is the patched version? I passed on the original release, but am feeling MvC2 pulling me back in.
They’re both extremely playable and a blast online. It doesn’t feel quite like it should with a few quirks here and there, but it comes highly recommended for the sheer amount of comp you can get in online.
Its playable, but not tournament playable.
I mean, you still get the crack addiction edition MvC2 gameplay, but its not like DC or arcade where the real cocaine from columbia is.
lol@crack addition.
XBox 360 issue:
I noticed that when spectating games or even when waiting in the lobby, i’d randomly time out with a “connection lost: network error” or something like that… it would happen occasionally to pretty frequently, up to 10-15 times within a 1 minute span. this didn’t happen before the patch came out and I thought it might be my internet service… then I came to a realize/hypothesize that the very act of people joining a lobby and then leaving (like i do just to scan available lobbies to see what’s out there), it would disconnect everyone except for one or two people, those people being the ones actually playing the game
I’ve noticed this because I believe that I’ve actually crashed lobbies by joining a lobby then immediately leaving… when I come back, the only people or person in the lobby are the players or one of the players and everyone else disconnects… then those people kicked out of the lobby trickle in shortly after being booted to the main menu… I’ve done this and had this done to me… i don’t know much about networking and stuff so i don’t know how releasing a patch can affect this stuff
Anybody notice this or think this is a probable cause?
I just saw the damndest thing!
This was on PSN today.
I was playing Jugg/Sam/Hulk. I glitched Jugg up as normal; don’t remember if I tagged in or countered in.
Anyway, Sam gets on point, and his behavior is strange. Normal shurikens were not doing 6 hits when they landed or were blocked; just one. And they hurt worse - about an inch of life off a point character with standard stamina.
Also, his standing fierce would have a tip of purple flame (a la Akuma dragon punch) at the tip and hurt badly. Like an inch and a half - or about like a landed glitched Jugg punch. It’s not supposed to hurt that bad.
I finished out the match with Sam on point, hoping to note other behaviors. But that’s about all I could see consistently.
Can somebody try to reproduce this? I’d love to know the circumstances. Thanks.
Fucked up shit like that should simply be uninitialized/recycled memory in the game causing random effects, as opposed to something reproducible like a broken combo or etc.
As far as I’m aware, the really old MvC2 code simply does a lot of bad things with memory/data. You mostly get away with it on DC, but online evidently you get into problem situations more often. =\
Thanks, man. Makes sense.
I’ll try a few more friendly matches to see if it happens again, but you’re probably right.
