another S/D might do the trick. first one to get the orbs out first will have the adv.
Believe it or not, Felicia counters Strider/ Doom, and I’m not just saying that because I play Felicia … but don’t take my word for it…
Ken AAA also gives S/ D troubles…
Strider-n-Doom are both uber-cool.
Anyway…
has anyone tried playing Strider/Sent/Doom w/ Sent-A?
I haven’t tried it yet… but theorietically one hit with Ourbs on can take off massive damage.
It won’t do that much if you connect with orbs than call the assist. I’ve used the same idea with Tron Projectile. It will do decent damage, but nowhere near as it would if you land it outside of orbs. If you are looking to actually connect with orbs and follow up with something even more damaging, i’d pick use Tron projectile over Sent projectile any day, or you can just make Iron Man your third character, tag out off the ouroboros, then follow into an infinite. If you want to use Sentinel with strider, Ground type is the way to go.
Anyway, I’ll give some info on the assists i think give strider problems.
Here are the assists that can rip through the trap cleanly under most circumstances
Ken AA
Akuma AA
Jin AA
Ryu AA
Dan AA (1 out of every 4)
Ken and Akuma’s AAA will work almost equally as effective. The only differences are that Ken’s will do 2 more units of damage and Akuma’s isn’t invincible to a couple things. However, Akuma’s AA will rip through anything strider and doom can throw at him, so we can ignore that aspect.
Jin has invincibility during some of the duration of his blast, and the coverage he has can throw strider and doom back if they’re just half a screen away.
Ryu’s has invincibility on startup and still has enough priority when his feet leave the ground to still knock out strider cleanly in the air.
Dan… I really wouldn’t worry too much about him.
Overall, the 2 biggest threats to strider/doom in this category would be Jin and Ken. Ken will dish out 26 units of damage every time he hits doom. If he keeps hitting doom continuously, you might be short on a fresh character. Jin will also dish out 26 units of damage, but only when all hits connect. However, the coverage he has can make it hard to come in.
Other Invincible Assists:
Cammy AA
Cyclops AA
Cammy will beat strider’s orbs cleanly. But if she runs into doom’s rocks first, she’s a sitting duck.
Cyclops will beat Doom cleanly. He will trade hits with strider as well. But since he has invincible startup, this can give the point character the breathing space they need to run. However, if my opponent has a cyclops AAA, i’d be more concerned about them Alpha countering cyclops in then canceling into a super. a gene spliceXX MOB will take off 50% of strider’s life.
Also, any anti air assist with instant startup but no invincibility can be a threat to the trap. Among these include:
Cable
Charlie
Guile
Psylocke
there are more, but i’m too lazy to name them all. all of them will trade hits with strider when he has orbs on. If strider isn’t blocking and he and/or Doom get hit by an assist like Cable, Charlie, or Guile, both him and Doom will get sent flying and the trap is broken.
Other assists that can be a pain in the ass for strider:
Tron Projectile
Rogue throw
Tron’s assist just does insane damage to strider. Rogue can also grab strider through his orbs if you alpha counter her in when you’re trapped in the corner. This easily sets up a c lk into a Goodnite Sugah, followed with perhaps an even more powerful DHC.
thanx hope this helps ME out. hehe
Sent Vs Strider on point is a very hard fight 4 Strider
And against Storm if u start orbs she can just SJ and u just wasted ur meter
I don’t see how a AAA beat Strider Doom like if Cable has whoeva he still going to get traped
Sent is more of an easy matchup if strider is backed with an anti air with good coverage(especially cyke). It’s not quite as easy as say Blackheart. It’s probably somewhat harder than Cable, but it’s still not hard at all. Even without an anti air, the match still isn’t that hard. I’d say Storm is a harder match though…
Kaising pretty much said everything that needed to be said as far as what hurts S/D.
Just want to add that Capcom AAA can be a pain if they know how to use it against the trap. He can hurt teleports, and even take out doom if they know the requiered positioning when calling him out.
Just remember though: if they are in blockstun… they can’t call out assists anyway.
errrrrrrr when i play Strider i prefer whoeva i’m VSing to choose CapCom Doom beats him (Assist Vs Assist) also hurts teleports? wtf i consider myself 2 b a good Strider player (i can beat all my comp with him) But wheneva i start the orbs and teleport i kno there going to be mashing out the AAA so i just block and contine to trap them
KaiSing the thing is with Strider/Doom/Assist well…that team sucks IMO Battery,Strider,Doom is safer (who actually plays S/D,AAA and get wins?)
…
when should i teleport? besides calling out doom, or after activating ouro super, what combo do u use when u dont have a super and have a opportunity to combo?
I still think Sentinel is one of the harder matchup for Strider, like the second hardest matchup for Strider.
If Strider doesnt have an AAA, extremely hard to get him off your head, especially without meter. With meter, its still a hard match, although he wont be all over Striders head.
With an AAA, its still no cakewalk. Sentinel is just too powerful and his defence is too good. Hes like a cross of Dhalsim and Magneto. The AAAs will minimize Sentinels flight game by 50%.
However, Sentinels second worst matchup is Strider, IMO.
The trap is too good and ownz the ground, where Sentinel has the most trouble in.
If Sentinel doesnt have an AAA, he simply cant get Strider off of him. HSF gets neutralized by the rings and he just opened up himself to all sorts of combos for Strider.
If Sentinel has an AAA, the match becomes much smoother, as he has the ability to call assists many more times than any other characters because of his flight mode. However, Strider can shut down most of the stuff he can do.
Strider/Doom/Assist does not suck as long as that assist has a purpose. You also just need to know what to do when strider doesn’t have meter. Take a look at the Clockw0rk vs. Soo match vids. Soo in my opinion has the best magneto out there right now. But look what happens as he tries to come in. Clock calls Sentinel ground, which works well as an anti air in its own right.
Starting batteries in S/D teams are useful, but it’s not something you must have. Having extra meter is a plus, especially if you want to repeat. But then again, you don’t even have to repeat orbs all the time. Saying that Strider is all about repeating orbs is like saying Spiral is all about repeating rounds of the Spira/Sent trap.
Julius Jackson uses S/D/Cyclops every now and then. The original S/D team by Valle was S/D/Commando. I use Strider/Cyclops/Doom and even got lucky enough to get 5th in one SHGL tourney. It may have been luck, but the team still got me results…
Teleport to get in close and attack. Use it against keep away players. Feel free to use it against Cable. I still have yet to find a cable player who has the reflexes to AHVB a strider teleport on reaction without guessing. Or if you’re playing an old school sent player who plays keepaway with drones, teleport in on his ass. I will also teleport to my same position to fake out smarter players who are anticipating it.
And I use a lot of different combos. If I want a combo for damage, I’ll launch into a magic series, maybe shorten it a lil, and end with a lp excalibur. Or if I want a combo that gets them in a position for me to follow up, I’ll launch, sj, sj lp, sj lk, sj mp, slight pause, sj mk, sj hp, sj hk. This is very effective against larger characters because sometimes, Strider will come in from the top of the screen, even though flying screen was caused. This can be confusing to players who expect Strider to run in from the side. But if Strider enters the screen from the side, i can drop doom and teleport, then go for another round of the trap.
A thought on Commando AAA vs. S/D. It doesn’t work unless your name is SiN. If Commando is your only anti air and my strider is already in close rushing down, all I have to do is drop doom. Now the match is practically mine. I’ve locked you down and you have nothing to alpha counter into that will break the trap or even give you breathing space.
I’ve experimented with Sent-A before. Its not too useful with the Ourbs but its good for a ghetto AAA. I guess u can use it like Magneto does.
…
thanks for the help kaising, i havent used s/d in a while, been using mags, y exactly does s/d give mag a hard time? can psy counter strider?
Strider/Doom usually beats magz. But for the most part when i lose to MSP teams, it’s cuz I get careless and accidentally run into psy AA. Strider gives mags a hard time because Strider has more reach, priority, and he can keep away using mass tigers while dropping doom and send an eagle if magz tries coming in from the air. It’s also frustrating for many magneto players when they’re not moving. As for psylocke, her Anti air will trade hits with strider. But she doesnt knock him away, meaning if strider has orbs and psy hits, she’s caught in the trap too. I wouldn’t worry much about psy anti air when i have orbs on unless Cable is at point, cuz he can AHVB after psy hits strider.
For the record, I absolutely hate fighting MSP with strider. As much of an advantage I may have, it’s one of those matches where I have to actually think and work for the win because there is a lot more risk to this match than a lot of the other matches. I can’t turtle, and I can’t rush down carelessly. So the entire match is dependent on how well I use my judgement when attacking with strider and whether or not my opponent will screw up their resets and infinites if i happen to get hit with psy.
…
can strider’s projectile, i mean dog and bird block all projectile attacks? can the dog interrupt sentinel’s drones? or cyke’s optic blast
…
they cannot beat beams but neutralizes any one hit projectile. The dog can interrupt only one of the drones when it touches you so the other 2 drones can hurt you. no, dogs doesnt go thru optic blast, nor does any one hit projectile. on the bright side, it has much less lag than the optic blast.
Mvc2: Iceman wants to be tutored.
Listen My name is King Iceman. I just copped Marvel vs Capcom 2 and i have a goal of becoming the hottest, or should i say one of the hottest players of the game. Iceman heard( dont mind me talking in 3rd person lol) that this is the hottest place to learn the hottest combos. And from seeing ths site…the combos on here are hot! So can yall fill me in here?
…
ey ouro thanks for replyin, about the sent drones can if a dog cancels one drone can i block the 2 other ones, u know how when u fight abyss in second form and he does his super if one of his green pellets hits a dog u can block after that, can u do that with sent? so basically all marvel projectiles, cant be interrupted by striders dog or bird right? say i wanted to have a good strider like clockwork’s , what are the important things i should know about strider?
well it depends how close you are to the drones. if you do it from farther away, you can block the other two since the dog recoverys pretty damn fast. it recovers a tad faster than his birds.
