The best Japanese Marvel players play top tier. The Japanese who came to the US to play this game play top tier. The closest thing to a not-top-tier point character on any of their tourney teams the last time they showed up was Iron Man. True story. I’m pretty sure the point of fighting in general is to win, but I guess if a guy pulled a knife on me and I had a knife as well, I’d be “unoriginal” if I used it. And if I had a gun and used it, man I’m an unskilled tier whore! :looney:
no stupid. its to pick crappy characters and try to win but fail every time.
I used to believe that it didn’t matter what characters you picked, but how you played them. I was even a low tier player myself. During that time alot of my friends that played top tier tried to explain to me that I was putting myself at a serious disadvantage by playing low tier and that top tier was the only way to really win. None the less I continued playing low tier because I refused to accept that statement.
Then I realized they were right…
Now I play top tier and I whore them. It’s the best decision Iv ever made. 
as long as you understand matchups and take advantage of your low tiers strengths, you can win. Of course its going to be much harder but it doesn’t mean its impossible. People like to bitch about tron being cheap but when you pair up bums with tron, they become able to compete.

all of those duo’s can hold there own against top tiers when you play it right.
marvel isn’t all mag\storm\sent\cable. There are good B characters that will rip those guys up like strider\IM\cammy. Give either of those 3 a hit in the hands of a veteran and be prepared to lose.
all of spidey’s normals xup. Even the mp and mk. I don’t think theres another in character in the game that can do that. Put him behind tron and now he’s one kill with glitchy 50\50’s and cross throughs that are just damn near impossible to block.
low tiers can step up and win its just the work involved and the strategy to pull it off isn’t something that everyone can do.

I think we all understand that low tiers are a servere disadvantage, once you fully understand the flaws of your chosen low tier character you can proceed to getting around said flaws. It is all part of getting better.
However, if you insist on using low tier characters and constantly get raped, please do not blame your characters. You get raped because you suck. It is as simple as that.
This type of thread always comes up and is always answered the exact same way. I started with low tiers first, until I got beasted on by Magz/Cable/Cammy. Now I just run random teams top and low. Not like I’m good or anything, but I really don’t play consistently anymore nor do I have anybody to play against.
