MvC2 Frame Data and How to Find Your Own!

any idea what that says? that information would be incredibly useful:lovin:

Looks like… pushblock stun frame data?

http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.geocities.co.jp%2FPlaytown-Domino%2F3677%2Fdata7.htm&langpair=ja|en&hl=en&safe=off&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools

frames for specials and supers, dammit i need a capture card and a decent computer

what the hell is guard stiffness? who are some of these people? gill, rhinocerous lock,

i believe the link shows the recovery frames for each character comming out of block stun.

i assume it’s in alphabetical order.

A [urubarin] => Wolverine

The ur valine => Bonerine
Omega lead-lead => Omega Red

Lock man => Rock Man

The rest are pretty straightforward. Just real garbled cause its such a wonky translation. How about a dedicated thread to discuss the data? There’s some real interesting stuff regarding the different game states, screens, tons of tables, etc., but the broken Engrish is a chore to wade through…

"Omega lead-lead

Squatting state is small to side widely. In [eipa] and the like of SJGC treasure.
Receiving decision of the cutting rubbing blowing off is huge."

I don’t know what that’s tryin to tell me about Marvel…

I was pondering the idea of making some kind of US-Meikyousisui website and have all sorts of useless frame data/data that only like 5 people would find remotely interesting. As you can see, 5 people is no where near enough lol. + There aren’t any combovideo makers besides me and meik =/.

I think FSD is called Limit Cancellation or Break foot payment lol.

Or any person here willing to translate the data/system part of the site? Maybe a group effort? I get a lot of the info but that’s cause I am familiar with what he’s talking about. I’ll try to help if some people are into this.

theres no such thing as useless frame data.:lovin: I’m sure there will be a practical use for it somewhow.

i’d help out but I don’t know shit about translating anything.

i’ve tried reading that translated page and its not making any sense. And some of this data has decimals in it.

My cousin is majoring in Japanese. He’s real knowledgeable, and at 20 he has already done some translating work in Japan. I’m gonna have him take a look at it to help me make sense of alll that goodness over Spring Break.

In the meantime he may be able to translate some of the shorter sections for us.

Shoultzula,

If you were talking about the decimals on the SJ Cancel related page, I believe it should be read as if it were a comma. So like “17.33” in reference to Sentinel’s standing Strong P means it’s SJ-Cancellable at frames 17 and 33.

Also, I guess the “~” designates a window of cancellable frames, as in Icemans sHP.

If you mean the decimals on the Special Move Frame Data-- that also is a comma, but this time I think it differentiates between Jab/Short and Fierce/Roundhouse Specials.

Thx Magnetro for that deinterlace stuff, it helped me a lot, thx again. :angel:

Why don’t you just get the japanese guide? Silly:)

Estimations do not count!

How is the jap. guide? I shy-ed away from it because it didn’t seem as beastly as the SFA3 one. That thing had like 300 pages…

Hey. Any news on that? It would be really great.

BTW, about the comma thing, I’m pretty sure it means they are cancellable on any frame between 17 and 33, and not only those two. I say this because it is not so hard to cancel the mp. If it was a 1 frame link this would be much harder IMO.

I showed it to him, and the problem wasn’t the Japanese, but the marvel/fighting game lingo. He didn’t understand the mechanics of any of it, so wasn’t really eager to get deep into Marvel just to help me out, haha.

I could still ask him about it, but I’d have to make it real easy for him i.e. know exactly what parts to have him try to translate/ already have a rough understanding of that particular page. From waht he’s said there’s like a million ways to say a lot of that tech stuff like frame/cancel/whatever and I don’t know anywehre near enough abbout the game engine to clarify for him.

What sections are the most sought after for translating anyway? Magnetro said that for the most part there were a few bits per section that he was stuck on. Maybe if we could break down what we know about each section here, it would make it easier to ask peeps who know the language, bc it would only be the small parts we can’t make out from those garbled engrish Babel Fish/ Altavista translations?

The data pages would be easier (not sure where to start) cause that has a lot less marvel terms. srk people can figure out the marvel terms through google or something since knowing the game even a little bit can help you figure out what he’s describing. and of course, I can always ask him what some of the terms are.

Google translator makes it pretty easy to understand what most moves are. What I’m having the hard time with are headers of the table. With some translations, the title seems to have no meaning at all. I think the best thing would be just to translate the headers for each data table. Some are easy to figure it out (specials and supers start up), others are kind of easy (whiffed moves recovery, or I think that’s it) and some are really hard to make it meaningful IMO.

i asked joo and he said it was okay if i translated all his data and mirrored it on zachd.com/inventiveflow so uh, who wants to start? haha

Are throws/grabs zero frames? I was never really clear on that.

Oh and Magnetro, do you have any idea what " RI " means. I’m seeing it all over Joo’s page and can’t make heads or tails of it.

Joo Translation Project is happening. I’ve been trying my best to help Magnetro with this-- it’s gonna be a long haul though, so any and all help is going to be verrry appreciated.

I put together a Marvel Blog / Translation Project jump-off point at:

On the left hand side you’ll find a few noteworthy Jap. Marvel sites, as well as a chart we made that breaks down how to decipher the Move Names as they appear on Joo’s site when viewed with Google Translate.

We’re working on the Data pages on and off now. If you have any interest in helping out, get at me or Magnetro. You’ll be really helpful if you know some Japanese, but it’s not too bad if you know how to look at the data in its Google-gibberish form-- which I can give some pointers on.

Basically, if you’re perusing the data and think you’ve figured out anything useful or noteworthy, please post here or comment on the Jap Data post of the Blog. The more heads the better…
