I’ve always wondered about this myself.
I’ve been curious about this for a long ass time. I’ve always lost to IM in that situation and its bugged the crap outta me. Has anyone ever been beaten out of a switched of.hk using IM? Even by megaman?
as stated earlier, IM’s HK gets his feet off the ground. low attacks won’t touch him.
^-- I believe that’s been previously noted to just be a character hitbox issue, as opposed to incorrect framerates. Megaman has a little of the same problem - he’s got the priority, but his offensive hitbox (attack range) is awful enough that slower moves beat him out if he’s not close enough.
Finding Frame Data On Your Own!
How to Capture Frame Data ?With a capture card ?
This isn?t an extremely comprehensive guide on how to capture frame data? But it should do
Step 1 ?
Get a capture card that can capture 29.7 interlaced www.zachd.com/mvc2/encode has my other guide for capturing video?Anyways, you?re going to need a capture card that can capture full frames (from DC). So that way when you deinterlace the video it will be 59.94fp/s? So once you have that kind of capture card you have to set the right settings which are usually something along the lines of 720X480 video @ 29.7FPS (with the appropriate field order, hehe). So, just capture something like Cable doing a CR.LP.
Step 2 ?
Deinterlace your video with TMPGENC or something that can deinterlace both fields at the same time. TMPGENC is the only one I know (I?m sure there are more out there though). Anyways, with TMPGENC you would go to the Advanced Tab (once you?ve imported your video) and then double-click the ?Deinterlace? checkbox to open up the settings window. At the settings window you will see the video and beneath that you will see the options it gives you to deinterlace. Choose the 3rd one from the bottom which is Even-Odd Field (adaptation). Before outputting your video go to the ?Video? tab and make sure that it says 59.94FPS. Then export your video wherever
Step 3 ?
One you?ve exported your video open it with Windows Media Player or something that can play one frame at a time. With WMP you would go to ?View -> Enhancements -> Play Speed Settings?. So with that you can just view one frame at a time?So there, that?s how you find frame data?To check, just look at Joo?s frame data. Also here is a video of 59.94fps http://www.zachd.com/mvc2/encode/59.4-Even-Odd-Field.mpg <~ just count the frames from that video if you want to see how some things are.
Problems that might come up when you?re trying to do this? -
**- **Problem: Your source is progressive/already deinterlaced
- Solution: Make sure the frame size is 720X480?I don?t know if it works with 640X480 but it really doesn?t matter since you?re not going to capture lengthy video.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Problem: When you deinterlace your video it plays back VERY STRANGELY (one frame then the previous?)
**
-** Solution: When you deinterlace you have to specify the field order, depending on your capture card it can be lower field first or top field first?TMPGENC can be told which ones to look at first.
Those are the only problems that I know of when trying to find frame data.
I think if you have all the settings right you can capture frame data with the emulated version of the game… Although I’ve never been able to do that so I don’t know how to help anyone with that. =-\
If I recall correctly, the DC runs at 60fps but because of the NTSC or PAL settings we never get to see the complete 60. I’m not 100% sure on that, but I have found the same numbers for the game as Joo has and I trust his numbers (+ they make sense).
I think this is great and I’d really like to thank magnetro2k for making this thread. You see although we already have frame data for normal moves we do not for specials and supers which play a much more pivotal role with low tiers. This is why I stickied it. Even top tier users could profit from that knowledge.
Unfortunately, most people on SRK would rather leech off other people’s hard work than do it themselves.
Yeah, do it for us, Dasrik. Or will you just leech off people’s hard work and yadda yadda?
How about trying this with chankast & fraps?
/\ I suppose you need a good PC cause anim-get causes chankcast to go slower than it does on my pc… buf if you get everything to work right, it should work.
How can I check if my video card can capture interlaced video?
I have an nVidia GeForce FX 5200, and when I capture with virtualdub, it’s 29.7 or whatever.
However, when I go into TMPGENC afterwards and de-interlace, all the fields in the “Video” tabbed are greyed out. The frame rate field is greyed out at 29.7.
Am I missing something? Do i have to encode with mpeg-2? Am I using a wrong field-order?
whats up with non switch glitch timed c.lk beating the glitched version?
timing? i’ve done this vs other switch glitch attacks that mag is supposed to lose to as well…
are you guys sure you’re beating a switch glitch? its pretty damn 100 percent proven that a switch glitch will allow you to attack at the fastest possible time. there’s numerous tests you can do , one that seems solid to me is the ability to immediately dash back. that’s damn near impossible without the character being glitched. i think someone suggested in another thread that this might be happening due to people trying to mix up the button theyre holding before the start of a fight thinking that someone is looking at their hands. i personally have never had a “WTF” moment with switch glitch, everythat that has happened i’ve been able to explain. i’ve never lost to cable with strider doing switch glitched 2 frame d+lp in God knows how many attempts.
mix up, how many attacks is mags d+lk suppose to lose to besides a jumping attack? the only one i know of is ironman/war machine rh. it’s technically not suppose to lose to anything that doesnt get air borne, at worst it should trade with other 1 frame attacks. maybe you just have godly timing to get the d+lk in as fast a the glitch works
Magnus cLK has equal priority with three characters, obviously (Megaman/Roll/Shuma)- most Magnus don’t anticipate the attack interruption with Megaman and so I can usually complete the broken combo (trade cLK with my LP, pause, continue). I don’t know how many hitbox transitions mess up Magnus - obviously Kai’s awesome knockback trick against Magnus at ECCX (take the glitched cLK hit with Strider doing a glitched LP(?), Strider falls oddly back, out of range of the snapback, countersnaps Magnus) takes advantage of hitboxes. Other people probably know way better about Sent’s openers against a cLK (take the hit, party on with that super armor in various fashions), and I think Spiral has some opener that beats it (into snapback) too…
I really couldn’t tell you how each instance works devil x, Honestly if somone with some more experience would post it would help us all out.
Kinda makes you want some input when timing is beating a glitch with the same character.
More than likely it’s player error on our part…but consistency levels this high mean that something is up.
preppy! with chun/tron after flying screen my friend paul does a really tight square jump +tronXX lightning legs for 80% lol
Is it wrong that i drop magneto/tron and pick mad low tier with her instead:wgrin: ?
edit about that strider thing that kai does, when magneto dashes into strider and does c.lk,c.lk+psy when strider is crouching, unless he slows down the psylocke assist call, and is close enough while doing it, psylocke pretty much will miss. maybe he’s trading so he can get fully out of range of the set-up.
how come there are no block stun #'s for mvc2?
Are you volunteering?
Hey, I’m really bad with computer stuff and I dont have the right stuff for this. I just wanted to check how fast morrigans supers were, special the DP super, but also on darkness illusion how many frames does it take her to pick up her legs.
Can anyone do this for me?
Yeah, what was I thinky dinking.
Here you go
