The community has long been after frame data for MvC2, and joo, well-known Japanese player and member of Meikyousisui, has finally made his work public! Head over to the vidop forums for a link to the first part of joo’s amazing work!
… more characters added. Shotos, Charlie, Guile, Anakaris, Morrigan, BBHood. I also kept similar characters next to eachother, and split up the “second tier” a bit more and made another section below with the other half that aren’t used quite as much.
nice. i didn’t know megaman was that fast. But this still doesn’t explain how my strider is beating Magneto players off the start even when they try to cheat. Maybe I’ve really ascended that much.
I organized it in groups of characters that are considered “about” equal. Don’t take it as an attempt to tier the game… just to seperate the chars so it’s easier to read.
As for certain chars beating other chars at game-start, it may have to do with hit-boxes and such. I’m not going to say joo’s data is 100% accurate down to the frame for every single character, but I think it’s very close at worst. According to ozy, joo is a super perfectionist. I doubt he would try to purposely mislead anyone, and I really respect the amount of time he put into even attempting such a project. Anyway, I hope players can benefit from it.
oh of course not. I trust joo with this data too. But we gotta remember, this is marvel. There is still a lot of ish we don’t know how to explain (and probably never will).
I think he did an excellent job and this is an excellent start. This can be very useful. I wonder if he’s gonna break down the amount of frames to hit, hitting frames, the frames to recover, and the guardstun as well? I sure hope he does.
There is an error with the frame data. Actually a lot of the data is off, I’ll list an example. Switch glitch a cr. short, with magneto, vs. a standing short, from megaman and it will trade. Megaman’s standing short is 1 frame, while magneto’s crouching short is 1 also. Of course most people would say “well they are both 1 frame” but then switch glitch a cr. short with magneto, vs as down/forward roundhouse with ironman, and magneto loses. The down forward roundhouse with iron man is 2 frames. magneto should win, but he doesn’t.
If iron man doesn’t hold down/forward while he does roundhouse, magneto beats him with his standing jab, but if he does down/forward roundhouse, magneto trades which shows that they are both 2 frames, but the cr. short doesn’t make since to me.
