MvC2: differences in console versions

^-- how so specifically?

I’m pretty sure it hits less in the PS2 version. I used to play that one a bit (As Team clockw0rk) and when I moved on to DC, it felt like I was able to do a hell of a lot more chip damage.

Well, the thing that made Doom AA assist good was the rocks did massive chip damage. This is because the rocks can hit twice each, once during startup, and another during the release of the rocks. There were a lot of rocks too, hence Strider/Doom was a viable team.

The PS2 version only has the rocks hit once, and the number of rocks there are less too, I think (not so sure about this second part). This means that any Doom AA traps become almost useless, and even if you can somehow deal with that, the damage is reduced significantly.

I was playing casuals with a buddy, and I know he didn’t DHC into it, but it definitely didn’t hit for the full amount, because I think if it did he would’ve killed me (pixel life).

But on the same note, I haven’t seen it again.

I got one:

When you do a sequence of air fireballs with Ryu you fall slowly, floating towards the ground. On PS2, once you get very close to the ground (little below jump height) you can float forever if you keep doing fireballs at the right timing, which can’t be done on ARC and DC.

Some differences include:
-you can’t change from stereo to mono like you could in DC version (nothing that serious)
-I thought that autosaving was faster in the DC version
-Autoloading in the PS2 and Xbox version took place when you start the game instead of before the game loads up (like the DC version)

When it comes to gameplay, the game is still the same. If you didn’t have a DC but always wanted to play this game, the PS2 and Xbox are giving you that chance. This is still a great game (even though I havent played this for ages and converting to the 360 is a pain). But that’s just my opinion.

There still are a lot of game system differences.

arcade vs. dc

some dhcs do significantly more on arcade than they do on DC (another reason why console is better)

Also, some combos do more in arcade than DC

Can’t tell you which ones though; its a secret.

Speed is clearly different as well

PS/xbox shouldn’t even be compared with dc; its like playing a different game entirely

I think the poor performance of ps2/xbox versions can be majorly contributed to the lack of endorsement money that the DC version clearly had.

Examples: here
here
and of course here!

I would preferably play dc over xbox or ps2 because i’ve played both xbox and ps2 and its quite not as good or the same.

I’m still curious as to the speed issue. What is the best option on the DC for a more arcade comparable speed? Is just playing it normal turbo 1 the closest you can get?

I remember going to a get together and one of the guys saying that if you put it on free play turbo that it’s different than putting it on turbo 1 or 2 in the options menu. He said it seems as if it’s the closest to arcade speed than the other two.

The PS2 version randomly freezes. If you try the magneto or ice man glitch to get rid of colossus’ super armor, the game sometimes will just lock up. There’s another lock up with captain commando, but i’m not sure what it is.

I dont know. I can execute everything much better on the PS2 version. Back when I had a PS2, and even now, on my 60GB PS3.

Its not a fault of the game, but when I play the shit on DC with that controller, I cant do Mag stuff, or dash real good, or TK’s. If only arcade sticks werent so lame to carry around, and bulky. No way I would be walking around with one of them.

But also something noboy ever noticed, on the PS2 version, after each match you hear a high pitched “WEEEEAAAAANG” before it load the victory screen, and also teh whole screen pixelates at that time.

XBOX version, I was never able to play until I got a 360. Needles to say, after about 5 seconds, I turned it off. Its not just “messed up” its fucked up and litereally unplayable.

I haven’t checked this in quite some time, but I swear that:

A. Captain Commando’s throw doesn’t mash for crazy damage on Xbox
B. Juggy glitch doesn’t work on Xbox (Powerup/swap)
C. Anakaris shit doesn’t work (Unlike other two, never really tested personally)

how is the DC version free? If you mean by “pirating” you can do that with any console…

If you play the XBOX version on the original XBOX, it feels way better than the PS2 version. The 360 fucks it up somehow.

This game is way to huge to try and pick apart EVERY difference between three versions.

Off top though, the ps2 version is the worst. Seriously.

I read this whole thread, and there isn’t much on what is wrong with the X-Box version. I also searched, and didn’t find a definitive list.

I have Marvel on X-Box, and it has always felt fine, but I don’t personally push the limits of the game when I am in training mode. Is there a definitive list of what is wrong with X-Box version?

I believe the DC version is now basically considered freeware because of what occurred with license (not sure about this) among other things; Capcom wouldn’t give a fuck if you downloaded the ISO right in front of their faces.

I also would like to know the differences concerning the Xbox version.
