MvC2: Destroying Cable Part 2

i hear all this discussion about the grenades … whats the big deal i throw grenades … (no super jumping) all i do is catch’em on the groung with a gun shot and fire a few call storm or something and throw a grenade while storm or whatever is in their face. i do understand that grenades by their lonesome leave you wide open but why would you even do something like that with no cover :bluu:

it sounds like you guys are all (the grenade is instant death for cable) when its not … as long you use it smart it can really be a pain in the ass for someone else.

yea da_dragon does suck :lol: nah he aiight but his cable is wack he gotta learn to run more fuck rushing down cable is awesome at running he was built with a pair of nike air’s on his feet make the other person chase ur ass an wait be very patient cuz as soon as they make a mistake grenade drop kick super continue super match over !

if you have him outside of point blank range there’s a good chance you can get an ahvb off. I don’t think it’s practical if he locks you in the s.jabs, it’s more of a reversal if you can start to get out of the trap.

maybe it is just me but i can never beat iceman when i play with cable
that zero block damage thing really messes me up

hmmmm no matter what i do i always get owned by Cable - just yesterday i fought someguy with a decent Cable/Doom/CapCom - i was using my IM/Sent/Doom and he fuckin’ owned my ass - it’s like i call Doom and sj. smart bombs, his Doom either trades or hits my Doom, or his CapCom eats through Doom rocks and blasts me in the air - also he keeps sj.hp and viper beams and throwing grenades and everything, if i call Doom and sj., and a grenade comes my way, blocked or not Doom is dead

i can’t get in close cos his CapCom blasts me and i have to block, i attempt a ground rush and call Sent-ground - he AHVBs - and once Ironman is dead my Sent can’t do jack, i can’t even stomp cos i WILL get AHVBed, even my Doom can’t do shit cos when i sj.photons, he sj.hp XX viper beam or AHVB

oh yeah i can’t wave dash under him too cos i either eat CapCom or take chip from Doom - what can i do??? yes i’ve read the whole thread and i need more help

Never call out Sent assist when he is using Cable. When you jump at him and he calls CapCom, you can try pushblocking to delay your fall a bit so you can get in closer to Cable. You can also do run away Doom by randomly jumping and throwing out Photo rays, don’t do it too often otherwise he may AHVB you. With Sent, jump at Cable till he calls out Capcom, block that and go into flight for stomp, be sure to have command of his fly/unfly otherwise he may ahvb or call capcom out again. However it is generally it is not a good idea to have Sent on Cable cause you can be chipped to death unless you SJ and is able to get in close.

hey thanks man - i’ve been thinking though - is it possible to pull a c.lk, c.mp XX Proton Cannon DHC HSF into 100% combo on his commando ASSIST when he calls it out? is it safe to do it? is it AHVBable??? if it’s safe i don’t have much else to worry about i’ll just kill commando when he calls it out :evil:

C.mp does not connect into proton cannon plus if he’s using Cable he can AHVB you. So it’s not safe at all. However if you do get the proton cannon to hit Capcom and he doesn’t AHVB you on PC start up, DHCing to HSF would be safe. Once the HSF has ended, you can do a C.hp and then block (anything else besides another hsf cable can ahvb).

Since you have two Char who can fly/air dash, it would probably be best to SJ (build some meter) with Ironman, hold back and falling toward, block his CapCom, and air dash df or straight with d+HP.

Throw out some air bombs with Ironman as well when you know you’ll be away from Capcom’s range to chip, but don’t do it too often otherwise Cable will AHVB you. You want to get him to think that you will throw those bombs out so he can try to AHVB you and waste meter as you block.

Never throw out random Proton Cannons at his Capcom cause you’ll be punished. If you want to attack Capcom, it’ll probably be best to be using Doom and you can throw his pink stuff or his super in the air after a missed Capcom AA.

If all else fails you can snap back Capcom but that’s easier said than done, or you can switch to Iceman/Cable/CapCom. That’ll easily kill his team.

eh i’m pretty sure c.lk, c.mp, Proton Cannon connects, unless you’re saying it won’t connect on his assist

i was thinking maybe when he superjumps and calls CapCom, i’ll have the time to pull that combo off and kill his CapCom by doing a rocket punch reset on his assist, but i’ll have to try it out

Yes it will connect to Capcom, what I’m saying is, that it won’t hit Cable. Because after Ironman’s PC there’s some lag and a blocked Cable can AHVB you also it’s not good for Cable to be able to jump behind your Ironman so doing that to Capcom is no good unless you are sure it’ll kill off Capcom and you are willing to sacrifice Ironman.

I think Sent/Cyke has probaly a better chance of beating Cable/AAA since Cyke can pretty much stuff anything minus Cammy, Ken and another Cyclops. It’s saved me a lot of times from getting AHVB. Your guys thoughts? What are some good Sent teams that can beat Cable teams?

if i’m not mistaken, a standing or crouching fp from sent can be countered by AHVB by cable if cable’s blocking. just fly/unfly cancel it.

make sure cable has no super meter and then hes as mild as a kitten :slight_smile:

That depends on whether the player knows how to use Cable-Cyc-b for combo igniting mind games or not AND has built out-routes into his offense. :evil:

That solves the meter dependency problem in near entirety.

-Building out-routes into your offense means that you engineer your rushdown in such a manner that you are NEVER in a situation where you either cannot escape safely or extend your rush into a throw attempt for free.

It is inappropriate [and stupid] for me to elaborate in a Destroying Cable thread further for all to see. Especially when this is my secret weapon.

I used to play against cable alot when I lived in California! All I usually do was Super Jump, and build up my meter I use Magnus

And when Cable messess up like when you do a Viper beam,and you see that pause,I go in for the normal RTSD routine.

Deathfist- Cable is everyones “secret” character. :lol: Anyway this thread hopefully will let other players kill cable easier, that way US cable players can adapt and get EVEN BETTER!:evil:

Cable isn’t my secret weapon or anyone elses for that matter. What is my secret weapon is a totally unique, totally fresh tactic for disposing of certain types of characters [and it’s FAST]. It is this kind of info that is my secret weapon. In order to help in your quest to dispose of this shit head [referring to Cable who is actually one of my favorite characters], I am taking this shit to my grave.

In all honesty, I am extremely interested in more and more methods of disposing of this piece too [talk about a love hate relationship I have with this guy :smiley: ]. This stems from the fact that due to a serious lack of recent play I am now having serious problems fighting him now when before it was childs play. Same with Sentinel. That’s why I’m picking up Magneto in addition to the Storm I picked up earlier.

Both ideas are excellent, but with the second one, make sure it is a mistake he made. Just be alittle careful that’s all.
