MvC2: Character switch rule

Neezy - to make the game harder, the marvel computer basically cheats and makes you do less / take more damage the higher the stars. I tested that a while ago, wondering why I had to AHVB x4 to kill rogue even with a combo starter on 8 star difficulty.

wow seriously, marvel players are retarded,

when the game says ‘FIGHT’, the order you played with and won with must stay the same when the next game starts with the ‘FIGHT’

If you play

  • B/A/C and switch A/B around, when the game starts, your team now is A/B/C. until you lose
  • A/B/C when the game starts, your team now is A/B/C. until you lose

no matter what, by the next game if you won it, you must play A/B/C when the game starts, it doesnt matter how you do it as long as when the next game starts A/B/C, you can switch glitch if you want, as long as the original team of A/B/C begins the next match.

correction on Wiz post is that you cannot switch assists either

i think you guys need to play some CvS2 to understand this concept.

you ARE in fact allowed to switch up the order of assists, but the main starter has to remain the same.

I don’t understand this, can someone explain?

so you’re saying that if i am using Mag/Storm/Sent, and i win, i can change it to Mag/Sent/Storm the next round?

correct, but you cant pick it in that order, you would have to pick it in mag storm sent, and use button switching to get mag sent storm

OK so according to mr. wizard “switch glitch” is not allowed altogether. Switching assists does absolutely nothing. Only point charachter gets an advantage if you change points during the loading screen.

Again another post from wizard stating that the point can’t be changed. Only the assist. So according to this if I pick my team, say Storm/mag/psy. My point in that situation would be storm. I can hold the two assist buttons and switch magneto and psyloce. I CAN NOT SWTICH MY POINT CHARACHTER. So switch glitch is officialy banned for the very first evo. Any decent marvel player knows that switching character B with C does nothing. Only swapping character A gives the desired effect.

Button glitching is only valid if for example u pick smp and button glitch mags on point and win, you must repeat the process in the next match with mags again being on point.

YOU have to keep the same point character if you win. Holding both assists buttons allows you switch up the assists (which you can also do) but you get no advantage at the beginning of the match.

see if you start with MSP in that order and dont use the glitch or switch up the assists and win, then pick SMP next match in that order, the only way to start Mags on point is to button glitch but you still didnt pick MSP in that order so thats where the deception is.

The argument has been around for so long cause YOU have been getting away with it for years.

bottom line if you start SENTINAL and win…he better be on POINT next match.

Finally!

Good luck magneto players.

muhahahahahahaha

i’ma go practice my snapouts now.

:frowning: I don’t think magneto can hang with a good santhrax anymore, button glitch or not. Yipes, one of the best magnus, going to santhrax instead of magneto, to try to beat chunk.

Ok, so from here on out, sounds like arcade mode for Evo now… am I wrong?

It still won’t be enforced at evo, its been an accepted thing in marvel since 2k3 4 years and we’re gonna change it? C’mon think about it.

i actually think this is where he fucked up the match… I think his MSP is his strongest team period.

I’m hella scared to ask for a clarification and contribute to the retardedness…but as a Magneto player, I have to ask. This ONLY applies to the 2nd match, right? Magnetos can still switch glitch in the FIRST game all they want, right?

and the 2nd. and the 3rd. and the 4th if it’s the finals. GLITCH ALL YOU WANT.

Hmmm, I guess I misunderstood this shit then. Cause in my money match with sanford when he wins he would switch up sent and storm on the point. Thought this was how it was suppose to be done - you can do the switch shit to change your character order just as long as you pick the original team order you started with. For example

You pick Sent / Storm / Cap and switch storm in with those assist button

The next game you have to pick

Sent / storm / cap in the versus screen but you have the option to bypass the holding of the assist button and keep sent on the point.

But if you wanted to you could choose not to hold an assist down and keep sent as your point character.

This is how I understood it and this is how it was done for a very very long ass time since the beginning of marvel.

Duc

Arcade mode would prevent this from happening -
P

To make it more complicated, arcade mode only works if the other player continues immediately before the next match starts with the winning player vs computer, because if the winning player switch glitched, he could reset it again by switching again against the computer if say the other person had to switch sticks between matches…

It makes no sense if you can have the option of changing the order of the team at the start of the match by keeping the same order at the character select screen.
strider: I agree actually, but I think storm>magneto at the same skill level so good santhrax players shouldn’t have a problem with magneto or msp imo. It’s a harder matchup for the magneto player to win imho being a magneto player myself. He needs all the help he can get in this case, more switch glitches in this case. Wrong thread to discuss yeah.

The Marvel rules have been amended to the following:

Game version: US Dreamcast
Game Settings: Speed 2, Damage 2, 2/3 Games
You may not use any glitch that prevent the game from being played. This includes game freezing, game resetting, player freezing, etc.
Deadbody infinites are allowed to gain a positional advantage, but not to delay the game.
Winner must keep same starting character, but can switch the order of assists.
Winner may not use the “Switch Glitch” to have a different starting character.
You may not use the same character twice on one team.

a moneymatch =/= tournament rules

a moneymatch is whatever the players agree to.
