MvC2: Character switch rule

Seems alot of people are not familiar with character switching at the versus screen when you have won the previous match. This happend in a tournament this weekend, and on ecc teams where someone stated you are not allowed to switch the order of your team.

So i’m asking the Evo tounament directors if you are allowed to switch your order at anytime win or lose. Chunksta was telling me this was an issue in ecc teams. Some people switched, while others tried to switch but were denied. I thought you were allowed to switch reguardless? Please explain.

http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=125564clearly says winner does not have to keep same order.http://forums.shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=118823doesn’t specifically address switching order, but does not say you cannot. I know for a fact at Final Round people switched orders between sets in singles and teams.

I can’t find any other major tourney threads right now. But I know the rules used to be you can change order. How many times have you seen someone play team row, and if the person picked msp, they started sent instead of magnus. If the rules got changed for evo, then so be it.

You have to pick the same order when you previously selected in your first match but you can choose to character switch at the tunnel screen. This is old news…

Duc

Best thing to do is set it to arcade mode so bitch ass niggas don’t get an advantage in the beginning of the match two times in a row after winning.

All the rules can be found there.

Marvel vs Capcom 2

Game version: US Dreamcast
Game Settings: Speed 2, Damage 2, 2/3 Games
You may not use any glitch that prevent the game from being played. This includes game freezing, game resetting, player freezing, etc.
Deadbody infinites are allowed to gain a positional advantage, but not to delay the game.
Button switching during the loading screen is allowed (e.g. Holding ASSIST 1 to switch your first assist with the point).
You may not use the same character twice on one team.

Yea i agree this is pretty old but thanks for clearing this up some ppl didnt believe me.

Right, but the rules on the evo page does not specifcially say winner CAN or CANNOT switch the order of the team.

so if i pick storm/sent/commando the first time, switch glitch to have sent/storm/commando when the game starts and win. can i pick storm/sent/commando the second game and choose not to switch?

Heh… the whole point of the thread was that people wanted to try and get 2 switch tricks. If you dont want to do the trick you dont have to, but why wouldnt you want to heh…

both players can do it.

So to solve this - put it on arcade mode. Closes thing to arcade and only one chance to to switch glitch if you win unless you lose the second game.

seriously, this still needs clearing up a it, i agree with Duc’s first post, i dunno, been like that since 2000 b5 tounrey

i think both people should be able to switch glitch. If in arcade mode, people can just wait, switch in tunnel against computer, button glitch again. I mean it ain’t that important if you’re playing spiral and all you’re doing is blocking call cable swords, but for mag players it makes or breaks the games.

i mean Duc was saying that switch glitch is okay but changing the order when the match begins shouldnt be allowed.

i mean look, when i play against santrax; storm first and lose, hell next match its me with MSP and i want storm first not Sent to zone me out. or like Sent went first, hell im picking cable next first and he’s getting shot, and i dont want that bitc storm to come out and run from me

How much more clear can you get? It’s allowed. End of story.

really uhhh lets check out the EVO site hummmm

  • Tournement Rules
    • Match Play
      • Playing the Match

Once sides and characters have been chosen, the players should begin the first Game in the Match.

The following rules go into effect once a Game ends

The Match is over when either player wins the required number of games (Two out of three games for most tournaments)

If someone has won the required number of games, the winner of the Match should report the result to the Judge.

If there are still Games to be played, the player who lost the Game has the option of switching sides (1p vs 2p) for the next Game.

The player who won the game does not have the option of switching sides. He must stay on the same side if the loser does not want to switch.

The player who won the last Game is required to keep the same characters, game modes, and **order of characters for the next Game. **

The player who lost the last Game is allowed to choose whatever characters, game modes, or charcter order he desires.

uhhh I win. I guess it wasnt that clear was it.

anyways

OK just to clear this up, the winner has to pick the same team in the same order on the character select screen. On the loading screen he may switch up the assists by holding down a button.

Honestly a simple way to end all this is to have all tourneys use arcade mode instead of vs. People like vs cause you can consistently switch glitch. Thats why we said you cant do that, we didnt say you cant switch glitch we said you cant change the original order i.e i use santhrax starting sent first then i win, the other person tries to counter me wit team scrub starting cable. But since Cable vs Sent is a bad matchup he says fuck it i dont wanna fight that matchup so he starts storm, imo i dont think that should be allowed. Thats the whole strategy and skill of playing, overcoming bad matchups and picking the right counter teams. Idk just my 2 cents…

i thought that’s what wiz is saying you CAN do. the main thing is picking the same order at the character select screen. you don’t have to switch glitch the second game even if you won the first one doing it.

Oh shit. Looks like losing niggas cheated at evo east to win. That’s some bullshit.

By the speed of your response to my post it looks you were waiting to post that in response to a post like mine. Good job, you won.
