MvC2: Character switch rule

Arcade mode would solve it.

We know this is why we want this clear(Especially The Non-Magneto Players)

I think you should have the same team as the previous game at the Fight Screen.[Ex. I pick storm/mag/psy then I switch glitch (Mag/Storm/Psy)at the fight screen so now if I win i have to straight pick this team straight out at the character screen]
This is probably asking too much but im going to keep my fingers crossed:angel:

lol it clearly states u Cannot Change your order, but you Can use the switch glitch. In this case Matrix was correct at evo east team tourney.

lol setting it on arcade mode sets console scrubs apart from arcade players

^so let’s say we’re playing event mode or versus, 1st match you pick sentinel/storm/capcom at the character select screen and don’t switch glitch so you’re starting sentinel and beat my msp.

Next match comes, you pick the same order (not changing your order) (sentinel/storm/capcom), and I pick sentinel/cable/cap, I’m holding assist 1 to put cable first, and you see this, can you still switch glitch and put storm first? (in essense, changing your order before the match starts) and if you can’t do this, do you instead pick storm/sentinel/capcom (changing your order) and a) switch glitch to keep the original order you started the previous match with or
b) throw me off making me think you’re gonna start storm, so don’t switch glitch and start sentinel instead (since storm beats cable)

There has to be more clarity if versus mode is used. Does it have to be the same order as in the order you picked the teams at the character select screen, or the order that your team appears when the match start?
hope i’m not confusing anyone…

According to the thread:

  • You can switch-glitch twice.
  • If you win with team A/B/C, you STAY with team A/B/C. You do not get to switch to B/A/C. That’s really important (much more important than switch-glitching), since my counterteam to Storm/Sent/CapCom is going to be different than my counterteam to Sent/Storm/CapCom. (Which was Storming’s question. The answer to that is NO.)

So the winner’s point character has to stay the same AFAICT.

yeah that makes sense, this exact thing happened to me one time when I got pleasantly surprised when storm started against my cable instead of sentinel. I should have hid my buttons so the other guy wouldn’t know if i was switch glitching or not.

ohh, therefore you DO have to keep the same order. You can change your order in the character select screen ONLY FOR FIRST ATTACK ADVANTAGE.

before i made this thread I did look at evo2k rules but they were in fact pretty broad. devil X also saw this.

some interesting facts.

-switch glitch does not always allow your first attack to beat non-switch glitchers.

-using arcade mode will not work since arcade mode on Dreamcast takes less damage than versus mode.
Versus mode is normal damage, arcade is not. Therefore making sentinel MORE GODLIKEE =o

what the hell does this mean anyways:

All macros available via the in-game controller configuration menu are allowed.

The same order pre or post switch?

Game one I pick mag/cable/sent. I switch so I get sent/cable/mag, and win.

For game two, do I have to pick mag/cable/sent or sent/cable/mag? Either way I can switch(/glitch). Thats what I take from this.

You can button glitch as much as you want. You must start the game, as in when it says fight, the same order as the previous game you won.

That very specifically means that if you can remap your controller buttons to it in the game options, it’s OK. So Fanatiq can map A1 to LP+FP, since that’s an in-game configuration option.

What is disallowed is controller-based macros, where I can make my Macro 1 button map to an infinite or etc.

This is fairly cut and dried. If you don’t understand it, it doesn’t affect you.

so i use one button dash right on the dreamcast pad right and it’s ok right?

I get it now. One question though, if the person switch orders “accidentally”, it’s up to the player to make note of it right and decide whether he wants to play or not right? If a person plays row against me, and switches to reverse row because I pick msp, I’m perfectly fine with that. However, if the match is already over or nearly over, you can’t all of a sudden point it out. Right? Some shady people would probably just play the match and keep the result if they win, or complain if they lose.

Incorrect, you must pick your characters in the same order. Only at the versus screen your are allowed to switch.
Say 1st match you pick Storm/sent/cap then switch in Sent as the point becauase you opponent will bring in mags 1st. You win

match 2 you must pick Storm/sent/cap. At the vs screen you opponent will bring in say cable so you leave storm out. You lose the glitch advantage but still have the better adavantage against cable.

Scenario 2 wich is incorrect

1st match is the same
2nd match you decide to pick sent/storm/cap and to fight cable you put in storm This is not allowed also giving you glitch advantage.

u fail at understanding

if u pick storm/sent/cap game1 and start sent, game 2 if in versus mode u pick storm/sent/cap and HAVE to start sent

finally someone clears this up. thank you infinite

Ok Imma just step in here and call you on this dude. What kind of bullshit are you saying? REally? Arcade mode does less damage than versus mode? LOL… Not trying to be rude dude but the same shit was said by some scrubs around my area and I had to prove to them that arcade mode and versus mode is in fact the same damage. Go into arcade mode then go into versus mode and do the same combo with sentinel. It will be the same damage in both modes.

Where in the rules/Mr.wizard post does it say this?

IIRC, it says you have to pick the same characters, in the same order, but can switch them at the vs screen. My original question was by picking the characters in the same order, if you switch in the first game, do you have to pick in the order you picked your characters or the order you switched your characters to? Then either way you could switch them however you want at the vs screen next game. Thats how I interpreted it anyway.

You pick your characters in the same order as before.

You can switch glitch or not.

The thing that stays the same is how you choose characters on the character select screen.

If you choose Magneto/IM/Sent and win, the next game you can use the switch glitch to have

Mag/Sent/IM
or
IM/Mag/Sent
or
Sent/IM/Mag

But IM/Sent/Mag would be illegal since there's no way to have that configuration if you chose teams in the same order as Mag/IM/Sent.

If you chose IM/Sent/Mag there would be a mandatory switch glitch to IM/Mag/Sent or Sent/IM/Mag. Mag/Sent/IM would be illegal because you're giving Mag a startup glitch advantage which he didn't have in any other configuration.

The short version:

Pick your characters at the select screen in the exact same way as before, and then start whoever you want.
