Anybody play these two guys? My local college arcade has quite a few MVC2 players, but almost NOBODY but me picks them.
Blackheart’s anti-air assist is top-tier when using a long-range team, and when playing normally he is cool. Takes some getting use to his quirks&design, on how to use him effectively.
And Shuma Gorath, two words: CHAOS DEMENSION!! That supermove kicks ass. Regular gameplay with him is decent too, His spikeBall super does decent connect&chip damage. I also love his stone-drop move, it does’ent do much damage but is fast, and can really annoy the other player if they keep getting hit with it.
So who else uses these two? They are pretty underrated IMO.
Funny thing about Chaos Demension, you need 3 Supers for it to work, and while it can do devastating damage to select characters, on some others its only good for a moderate amount of damage as far as supermoves go. Odd…
Maybe i’m just not mashing buttons much, assuming button mashing would make a difference as far as damage goes.
Well thing about Chaos Dimension, mentioned in the almost useless facts thread, it’s an unblockable hit, meaning while your blocking something like dooms rocks you can just get caught by the CD. But usually with 3 meters you could so much more with other characters.
Shuma-Gorath was my favourite player in MSH. It was easy as hell to FSD after a jumping HP and follow with a Chaos Dimension. Unfortauntely, this Shuma is weaker and has several limitations on his moves. He’s still worth playing with once in a while. I wish I could say the same for Blackheart. The fact that we can no longer link his MP after LP or LK is disgraceful. That alone makes him a questionable choice.
I’m curious… do people pick Blackheart because of his fighting abilities, or just because he’s the personification of evil? Let’s face it, the ‘badass’ complex is infuriatingly attractive.
Yeah he is pretty COOL & evil looking. Thats one of the reasons why i want to play him more. Also his Anti-air assist is TOP-TIER, better than commando’s IMO. Can SERIOUSLY wreck havoc and cause dissarray on a team thats not fimiliar with it.
Especially those annoying storm players who like to fly up high and use typhoon alot, while building super-meter, as a last resort. They’re just asking to get pwned by blackheart.
Also i’ve seen how effective he can be to those select few who bother to take the time to learn him decent. I might be better with him if he actually had a dash, and not that melt-into-ground/teleport thingy.
After playing Shuma and Blackheart in Arcade MSH last night, meh. They were both so darn SLOOOOW. So much so, that half the time i was forced into playing keep-away with the comp until chaos demension was charged, otherwise shuma would get beaten down by faster characters like captain america.
Blackheart’s fierce kick w/demons that hold the other character, they would’nt hold them long enough to pull of the Supermove either. That was lousey. Like Shuma, blackheart was also signifigantly slower then more recent versions, and thus forced into playing the defensive game like shuma.
Anyway, once MSH Vs StreetFighter came around, THEN Shuma&blackheart were improved upon. With their speed being brought up properly and able to link moves decently too.
At my college arcade there are quite a few decent players, but the select few that are nearly untouchable and win 96% of the time…are those who ALWAYS pick the top characters like Magneto/storm/iron man and SERIOUSLY whore-out their top-tier qualitys.
I have a decent win/loss ratio against everyone else, but when i play against those guys i just have NO CHANCE. The slightest mistake i make is all they need and , BAM, my character is knocked into the air and gets 60%-65% of his life taken off by one of those gay air-combos.
Also those same guys are into Iron man’s infinite, and once they catch my character in that and start it, stick a fork in whatever character i have, cause he’s freakin’ DONE.
Ugggghhh… disgusted
The only ones who can beat these guys are usually each other. In which case the match pretty much depends on who can pull off the cheap-combo shit the fastest. Its sad.
Yup sad for me. I learned after awhile to just not play against those certain players. Since i know i’m going to get PWNED everytime by that crap.
Funny thing is these certain guys will often prefer to play ALONE on one(we have two machines), while the rest of us play on the other one. Which is probabley to practice.
Now there’s nothing wrong with practicing, however, why practice? These guys PWN everybody else with an Iron Fist as it is. How much MORE cheap/dominent do they want to be?
Blehh… makes me want to start learning stuff like Iron Man’s infinite, just so i’ll have at least 1 ace to use against those guys…
But then i would’nt be playing for “fun” anymore, rather a competitive pissing contest.
I also for some reason, don’t like to play the top tier guys much. I’d rather pick other characters, which just happen to be lower tier guys, such as blackheart, shuma, juggernaut ,etc.
Returning to the posted topic, there’s a couple local kids who play some serious Blk Heart and SG. But outside of 3 people I know, I don’t know of anyone who plays them.
Also, I to’ly agree with you Super, if you’re just playing with a rote pattern just to win (and most importantly, not having fun), than what’s the friggin’ point?
