MvC2: BlackHeart and Shuma Gorath?

bh can hardly chip you safely nemore cuz you can pushblock out of HOD and shuma wont hit ne1 good a whole lot…the unblockable eyes with shuma is kinda krunk tho

Softban on Shuma? WTF?

If people soft ban shuma because of chaos dimension, those people SUCK.
1]You can mash to get up faster after that super
2]it’s 2 levels for alittle over half the opponent’s life
3]Better characters have unblockable supers and moves.
-Spiral’s grab super, Doom’s low roundhouse cannot be blocked [Proximity guard glitch. couple this one with a call of Capcom and a DF roundhouse for free air combos]

No, Shuma isn’t soft banned. Technically, anyone outside the top 10-11 is banned because they usually cannot compete at all with anyone above them on the whole, or often times aren’t as fun as the better characters.

Here are some tips for Shuma. It’s not much, but it’s something.
1]If you land the bubble eye shots [forgot the name] and shuma leaves point, they explode often in a manner that causes the person to eat whatever move follows.
Examples:
-You do a combo that ends in drones, and causes them to eat the eye-shot, then you fire off his multi-eye super immediately and immediately, DHC into something [The proton cannon for example], the eyes explode making them eat the entire second super you DHC’d into, then you DHC that into Sentinel and kill the character.
-You land a combo using assists into the eye shot or they be real stupid and eat it, and you tag in Cable in the back. The eyes explode sometimes making the tag in hit and you AHVB them to death.

Word.

Keep in mind though, that BH today doesn’t rely on chip as much anymore. It relies on Capcom into InfernoXXHOD whiff cancels into HSF, and infiniting for 1-2 reps and tagging in Cable, Magneto, or Ironman who decimates you. It’s killing power basically.

One major common weak point of characters outside the top tier is the fact that many of them have some deficiency that makes them unusable. Usually it’s related to solo death dealing potential. In 1 hit I mean, not 2-3. Sometimes it’s related to having useless projectiles. If it isn’t that, it’s not having enough mobility. If it isn’t that it’s the inability to land that deadly hit. With work and determination, you can sometimes overcome some of these if you have mobility and good supers/combos/DHCs.

If you manage to do this to someone, then you can really fluster them. If they don’t know what the weaknesses of the character are and try to play you again, good luck. They’ll probably lose even worse this time.

If they do know the weakneses of the characters [or just choose team Rowtron since every character’s counter character is present somewhere in this team] then good luck to the one fighting this.

This is SRK… there is nothing cheap here, just things that win and things that dont.

Back on topic.
BH is an amazing assist character. His AA assist can do things that CapCom only dreams he could do. (Like Aim…) Shuma is kinda weird. Not many people play him any more because he isnt really that good compared to the higher ranked characters. I mean, even Blackheart isnt meant to be a point character. He’s really slow, and most of his normals are fairly weak. He’s HUGE and he doesnt take alot of hits, bad combination. His AA sets up for some nasty traps. If you are going to play the guys at your dorm in casuals, feel free to use shuma and Blackheart. But, if you decide to go to a higher level of play, those guys wont cut it anymore. May I recommend picking up other characters as well and just keeping BH/ SG for assist situations and scrub killing? Blackhearts normals come out so slow, that a good cable player will AHVB x3 you while you keep trying to do your HK with BH.

If it were MSHvSF then I wouldn’t mind picking shuma for the obvious reasons, however CD isn’t worth 3 supers here in MvC2 because you can do so much more. In CD mode, you worry more about pulling off the super than anything else - taking a beatdown for it. Besides it’s too risky against the high ranks…

I use blackheart mainly for his aa but he’s good with cyclops.

There is something really annoying you can do with Shuma Gorath in casual play. Put him with Wolverine bone’s Gamma assist [the sweep].

This may sound utterly retarded, but a friend of mine [Ratio1Beatdown] went down to the States and had an 18 game winning streak in Marvel with Shuma, BH, Boneclaws-Gamma.

The Boneclaw assist is very easy to fall for, and it recovers fast enough that he’s likely to be able to get to you if he dashes just before you get up with the overhead into Boneclaw slide assist. If you block, both shots land. If you roll, he gets to you, overheads you, and both shots land. There really isn’t much you can do if you get caught in it.

He kept doing this over, and over, and timing the overheads so every time you roll, you end up closer to the corner. When that happens, he activates Chaos dimension and if you roll, you rolled into the corner and he grabs you as you stand [before you can jump away]. If you don’t roll, he grabs you as you stand. Either way, you eat the super.

Back in 2000/2001 I used to play Sent(Ground)/Blackheart(Anti-Air)/Shuma(Expansion)

I used Shuma for a decent ground assist that did alright block stun, plus on hit it sends the opponent flying. And on the rare occasion that if a character would die off, if Shuma was on point, and had meter for it. Activate Chaos Dimension, use BH AAA, and nail them while in blockstun.

Of course this was while people were playing like Sprial with Sabretooth assist. lol

If you are gonna use shuma, you gotta atleast use his super jump cancel combos fuck the CD. I usually use Shuma with iron man aa assist and sentinel drones with shuma on point so if I ever hit them with the eyes (projectile) I get my free dhc with three bars into sentinel from ironman. The main combo I use with this team is,

c.lk, c.mk. super jump cancel, j.lk, j.lp, j.lk (timing a little slow on the three hits here) j.d.hp, wait a second, j.d.hp (this will otg them), DF Hk + iron man aa, j.dhp (they hit ironman here), launch again j.lk., j.mk kick airthrow and mash.

  • after the otg there are a million other things you can do aswell, you can snap them out, shoot eyeballs on them, d.lp + ironman db.hk into qcf 2k, also could relaunch into the corner infinite if you are close.
