On complaining that’s Loss Aversion… that I have been mentioning. Its an undeniable event that does happen in SFV.
Yup that’s why I used it as an example that marketing thing cannot cover everything. That the same with the lack of traditional modes. The same with the lack of arcade mode it is an undeniable fact beyond FGC influenced websites and reviews.
That ain’t a logical justification because SFV and Capcom ain’t in that fictional what if scenario. Your pointing out expectation can be managed by marketing tactics through trailers and blogs? This ain’t a monopolize market or a fresh launching title so that isn’t possible to SFV reality specifically.
But this isn’t what I’m saying I’m not sure why you seem to think I believe marketing would make the game sell a extra few million units.
I’m just saying this department from capcom is one of their worst.
The company has idiots at Evey level, yet this department seems to have only idiots
Cause you came out with the idea of marketing to cover for a change, I’m just pointing out that the risk they did cause a loss aversion because similar genre and previous work are the more influential factor into shaping the consumer’s expectation and trust other than marketing props in this internet age unlike before.
This 100%. The game itself isn’t what’s disappointing people, but the marketing of it. That was true for SFV, and it is looking true for MVCI so far. We will find out for sure next week if they step it up, but for now Capcom is basically relying on our blind faith in the title for sales, which is not smart no matter how crazy loyal the hardcore community is.
The difference between now an then is that Capcom was putting out ten fold more games a year in the 90s than they are today. If they were putting out quality titles often and consistently it would be more more forgivable since they would be strained for time. Today though? It’s a clear reflection of how poorly they are doing and how desperate they are to put out a title cheaply that will make a profit. The last game they put out was SFV, which was preceded by Dead Rising; both tanked as far as sales is concerned, is it really so far fetched as to believe they are hurting.
Edit: Forgot about RE 7, not sure how well that did, but I imagine it was somewhat successful since it did get some acclaim. Though it was essentially just a reboot of RE 1.
