I’m trying to warm up to the idea of 2v2 Marvel. I’m not feeling it yet because I just don’t expect the neutral options to be as interesting as the old 2v2 vs games and the super options won’t be quite as explosive due to that. It’s not the worst thing in the world, but sucks compared to true cracked out 3v3.
The one assist thing is what really gets me though. Like you can’t have an assist for both characters. Like you have to just choose from one of the two or do you just get to pick a 3rd assist character like Marvel 1? Maybe that’s their way of “simplifying” the game since every game has to be more simple.
Like I don’t read comics or play big Capcom franchises, I just want characters who play a certain way. So unless they’re overhauling Dorm/MODOK/Ghost Rider (assuming they’re even returning in the first place) I just want them back because I’d like to play them. The first two are probably my favorite individual characters in 3.
I would find it harder to believe if there were x-men characters based on the whole shit with fox. Seriously, fuck fox. They’ve ruined it for everybody.
Marvel will always be crazy but I think its possible to make a balanced marvel game that can still be off the wall fun. For example one of UMVC3s biggest flaws, TAC infinite, was an unintentional glitch. Something like that would get patched out in a few days in the current climate. Imo UMVC3 could have been perfect with just one or two more balance patches. The leap from Vanilla to UMVC3 was a huge step in the right direction, they’re almost two different games.
What I want to know, is if the assist character is just from the existing character pool. If so, maybe they can make it so that you can hide who your assist character is (similar to how you can hide your order in KOF games).

People want Daredevil, but I’m going to just be honest and say he wouldn’t seem particularly interesting in a fighting game. I feel the same way about Luke Cage as much as I like the character.
I hope the X-men will be in this game. This is my favorite fighting game ever.
