I got some things to say about some of you guys’ dream rosters.
Fuck Gambit. He’s a relic of the 90s. Plus, his fighting style in the games is incredibly uninteresting. All he does is jump around and throw projectiles just like 50% of the other characters in the Marvel series. If he were to come back, he would need an overhaul, like making him a trap character with exploding card mines and delayed blast floating cards and such. He could keep Royal Flush, though.
Special Snowflake Marvel characters are gonna happen. Yeah, I hate the heroes getting chameleoned into others races or suddenly liking to take it in the pooper just as much as you guys. Even so, Marvel will make sure that their new line of comics are repped faithfully in this game, so us hating it is not gonna stop them.
Don’t expect so many obscure Capcom dudes to show up. I could count the number of Dark Horses from Marvel 1 all the way up to Marvel 3 in one hand: Strider, Jin, Son-Son, and Firebrand. Everyone else were either classics (Haggar, Megaman, Arthur), made exclusively for the game (Amingo, Ruby Heart), or were modern for their time (Hayato, Frank West). The most we can hope for is one such person, two if we’re lucky.
Moving on. You know what I’d like to see? Assists with variable cooldown time. If each assists had different levels of cooldown, it’d be easier to balance them. A crappy Hadouken assist, for instance, could have close to zero cooldown, while an absurdly powerful one like Hidden Missiles would have a considerably longer cooldown. This could also be a good way to reintroduce invincible assists. Invincible assists are a great counterbalance to how nutty and insane the rushdown in this game can be. However, spamming a Psyblade assist every two seconds is too big a stifle on offensive characters that aren’t completely busted. A cooldown mechanic would make a great middle ground.
Yeah people like Marvel BECAUSE it’s a bad game. It’s the one game that tells you up front “this is some piece of shit we put together so you can blow everyone up with DBZ levels of shit”. Most other games try to advertise being competitive and having an intricate fighting game system and all of that shit. Marvel is like “you’re using a master of magnetism vs a demon that can shoot thunderbolts in his demon form and that’s the most important part”
What about Roll, Tron Bonne/Servbot, Captain Commando, Viewtiful Joe and Phoenix Wright (a popular franchise but an unlikely character for a fighting game)?
No, the people who praises IV now isn’t the same people that attacked it in the past. Same will happen with V, because (surprise!) there are people that actually enjoy the game. But instead of spreading their love for the game on the forums they are too busy playing it and probably don’t want to deal with people that thinks “games I don’t like = bad games”.
Well, gonna end the off topicness here. There’s already pleny of topics where you can hate on V in peace. I just feel bad for the fact that Marvel 4 will probably receive the same treatment, but that’s life, I guess.
Although I think MvC3 would have seen some honesty if it were patched up regularly. We never gave Marvel games a chance to become honest because their development cycles were pretty short.
Roll was in the Megaman cartoon series. Everyone knew her. Servbot was the Capcom mascot for years! Obscure, my foot. Tron Bonne was from a game that was relevant in early 90s/2000s. She was grandfathered into Marvel 3, but she at least got help from how identifiable the Servbots are. Viewtiful Joe is not a nobody. And Phoenix Wright is recognizable. It doesn’t matter if he fits in a fighting game or not. Heck, being out of place in a fighting game is part of his charm. You have a point with Captain Commando. I mean, he was tried out as Capcom’s spokesman in the Nintendo days, but that didn’t last very long.
I just want to look stylish while beating down on my opponent.
And goofy characters that have no business on beating up powerful entities that can destroy galaxies at a snap of a finger.
I would like a gameplay that’s more similar to Injustice, with the stage interaction and those things.
Marvel vs Capcom’s gameplay has been kind of absurd and doesn’t exactly fit comic books. But I know that’s what people associate and the brand is too strong to dissolve.
Please let have Miles Morales and Chun-Li to have a special team-up supermove called “Double Hoyokusen”, just like Ryu and Ken in X-Men vs Street Fighter.
Gimme all the new school heroes: Kamala Khan, Miles, Riri Williams, Amadeus Cho (Hulk), Sam Alexander (Nova), Miss America, Odinson (Unworthy Thor), Jane Foster Thor, Black Cap, etc
