ok two things, firstly can someone change this thread name, i keep thinking this is the character thread because character is in fucking caps, i dunno, call it no news is good news day:101 or something
secondly, i forgot to address this to @PSYCH0J0SH but how yipes knew about the umvc3 patchlist was that he revealed the patchlist as well as other info on a marvel live podcast a few months ago. So logically, you’d assume he’s probably the playtester for mvci and got info via asking the guys there
But it’s the first time they say they are trying to keep the depth instead of just saying it’s simplified, end of the story. I think the gameplay will be the same as UMVC3, with the simplified part coming from the fact you only have to pick two characters and not care about assists.
I think those are just characters he wants to see. Sigma’s another one he’d like to see. I find it hard to believe Combo wouldn’t have shared roster info with him, though.
“I don’t think it would be wrong to say that we didn’t get much right with Street Fighter V at launch; we’ve learnt and put things in place that will avoid such issues ever arising in the future. Getting an offering that’s right for consumers first should be always be our priority.”
I can understand if they want to hold off on any big reveals until they feel comfortable, considering how SFV’s release went. My worst fear though is that after they’re finally ready to show us they STILL won’t have it right, and then it would be too late for our feedback to matter. Then the game will become an endless patchfest and no one will ever be happy because they’ll always be bitter about it not being good the first time.
Capcom’s been pretty active with Strider lately with a new game a couple years ago & a playable appearance in Project X Zone 2, I think he’s pretty safe.
Anyone here trying to play Tatsunoko Vs Capcom? Its having a mini revival thanks to the discord and dolphin netplay being good/easy to setup. Its pretty cool for people like me who always had an interest in the game but never had the community to explore it with. Its also pretty interesting going from MVC3 to TVC, seeing as it was kinda the beta for MVC3. Theres some really cool characters and ideas in there. The game doesnt deserve to be just forgotten.
Take this as a grain of salt: I was thinking there would be a Gems that would allow us to have “Assist” then so fort with Crossover Combination, DHC, THC and Dual Combination Attack, but not in a single Gem instead scattered into different Gems… some could allow Assist and THC at the same time. Then some Gems would varied/alter the assist move of a certain partner to make up with those that wanted Assist.
This would give more probability in playstyle diversity yet there is also a drawback and limitation in certain areas like CVS2, while taking inspiration with SFXT and Heroes-&-Herald mode.
The thing is Capcom should avoid weird cost(vitality, stamina, stun) on certain abilities(Heroes-&-Herald) for characters that is exclusive with the Gems because there are already limitation by not making them available to other Gems. CVS2 did great on those.
Just my speculation guys, because Capcom is not showing the rest of the Gems lately.
I don’t think they’ll be tying essential gameplay mechanics to the gems, but rather offering character-specific buffs for each gem.
Which brings up the question, will you be able to select a gem for each character? Or do you have to choose only one gem for both characters? Because the latter would make it a bit more strategic.
I just hope Capcom would go breaking down those previous incentives/game mechanics in previous versus games to be accessible and scatter to different Gems rather than making Gem specific buff for particular character like MSH is not a good design it limits diversity and usability of other Gems to certain particular character, It’s like no or least different to automatically assigning Gem which should never be Capcom’s course because it limits diversity in Gems and character probability of discovering different playstyle with different Gem combination. The limitation already is about losing the privileged to those that we gamers are accustomed into from previous games but not having everything/all as an usable at the same time.
I like also the selecting one Gem for both Character.
I don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s vastly different from automatically assigning gems.
Certain gem combinations will be used the most and considered the “most optimal” gems for certain characters regardless of whether they do it one way or another. It’s inevitable so they might as well do something interesting with it and make character-specific buffs for each gem.
