It’s definitely been quiet on the MVC:I news. Especially since the game is slated for this year, I would assume a character reveal should be coming soon.
Something you’re forgetting is that Injustice 2 is coming out in May. We had a similar drought of information after the game was first announced at E3. And it’s the same for every other fighting game in development. Even the King of Fighters XIV, which had monthly info drops, only did so in the last 4 or so months before the game was released.
As the saying goes, “familiarity breeds apathy”. The most likely result of a prolonged series of monthly info drops this early on is that hype actually goes down for each announcement because they’re coming on a regular basis. If it goes on for too long, we’re no longer at the edge of our seats because we already know that stuff is going to be announced.
However, Marvel historically have a fierce rivalry with their “Distinguished Competition” and right now, DC got a momentum lead with Injustice and have been more proactive with the game since Marvel 4 was announced.
I don’t expect it to continue and Marvel letting DC get even more momentum with their character announcements, etc.
I expect reveals shortly to squash that and Marvel 4 regaining momentum. Is what’s expected from Marvel and their rivalry.
Injustice 2 had quite a lot of info and footage during E3. All the core gameplay mechanics were well explained and demonstrated. I’m aware that things aren’t changing as much with Injustice as they are with Marvel, but there was a lot more they had figured out. If MVCI had that kind of coverage I would be fine with no news for half a year.
I’m just about ready to adopt this mentality. If Capcom isn’t going to reveal something soon, then they clearly want to work out some kinks first. I’ll do my best to forget about this game until Capcom’s ready to show something substantial (but if this long-awaited reveal is anything less than a playable build I will lose faith in this game’s success)
Or they’re just sticking to a marketing schedule that follows the usual route of not giving much info until we’re much closer to the game’s launch. And please stop trying to compare specifics of “this game had this much info when announced” and such, since that doesn’t really matter. People seem to be under the mistaken impression that they must reveal something as soon as there is something to reveal, which is wrong. There is a marketing schedule that they follow.
I have ALL FAITH in Marvel developed in house by Capcom with the guys that worked on the old games. ALL FAITH is within me. Caplords plz bestow me the greatest Marvel yet.
Pokken is closing in on Marvel in the Evo players choice!?!!? The fuck are people doing letting that happen. Marvel as a series is a cornerstone of Evo, having been in it since B4. If it were to be gone, even for one year would be a travesty.
