MvC Infinite CHARACTER Speculation/Request Thread

Jack Baker would be great. It doesn’t matter about canon power levels or whether a character is superhuman in a vs game. His whole persona and potential moveset would just fit in a modern vs game imo. Plus he promotes Capcoms latest RE. So its a win win.

I don’t know. I would rather see Chris Redfield and Albert Wesker return as the Resident Evil reps of MvCI because of RE7’s Not A Hero DLC that’s being released soon. Plus, I would expect them to be in their RE7 counterparts because of that.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big Hugo fan. But I would not be upset over the mothefucking Mayor of Earth dropping by again, seeing as reused assets look like a thing in this game. And hell, maybe Baker’s “I’m gonna take you for a ride” line was a hint at his inclusion this whole time.

Since Black Widow is pretty much 100%, I would expect her to play somewhat like RE5 Jill from MvC3/UMvC3 in terms of fighting style.

From RE, I can see Wesker returning because he just fits into MVC. Chris’ moveset is bland, so it can go to Leon to promote RE2 remake. Or better, give Chris’ moveset to Regina from Dino Crisis, along with some dinosaur summoning, and put William Birkin to promote RE2.
i think Jack Baker moveset would be too similar to Frank West

Aside from the 6 announced characters, I don’t think we can say anyone is 100% except for the following:
Marvel: Spider-Man, Hulk, Thor
Capcom: Chun-Li, Dante, <Resident Evil character>

Anything beyond those involves some level of speculation, though obviously some are more likely than others. The Sigma/Ultron theory seems pretty solid for example.

I don’t think Thor would be making it in for another round since fans voted to not have him back for the game according to a certain poll. So, I can see Loki standing in for him. :expressionless:

Hell no, fuck Jack Baker.

At least with Leon or Chris you have the professional weapons expert, or with Wesker you have the archetypical world-conquering madman. Baker is just a retired hillbilly dad who was the victim of unfortunate happenstance, and the persona he has in the game is not him. It’d be completely idiotic to put him in the game. He doesn’t have an interesting enough personality or story, and the only thing he can do is shoot himself without dying. Unless you’re talking about the way he grows into a big black eyeball monster, which doesn’t do anything exciting at all, it just slithers around. He may be a threat to a 90 pound weakling like Ethan but in MVC he is a total chump. It’d be like putting in a random zombie as an RE character. If they wanted someone to promote the new RE, the closest thing they’d have would be Eveline, but even she’s kind of lame.

It’ll probably just be Chris again as he’s going to appear in an upcoming DLC chapter for RE7 anyways, and maybe Wesker will come back. So there you go, Chris can represent RE7.

Thor is a major Marvel character. Not being popular with players isn’t going keep him off the game. Top tier Avenger and his third movie drops this year. Marvel ain’t benching him. Also, polls don’t determine to makes it into games. If they did the game’s roster will be made up of X-Men who were popular in the 90s. That shit ain’t happening.

Any other decent Capcom biggies(non-mecha) ideas other than Hugo, Gief, Jack, Haggar and Nemesis?

Who wants Nemesis to return?

I want Nemesis to return with a not-shitty moveset.

Any monster from Monster Hunter. They are the real draw of those games and would be preferable compared to the hunter. I personally want to see Rajang. He would be the easiest to adapt to a fighting game and it can go super Saiyan.

But that’s just a balance issue, she wasn’t built as an assist based character. I mean, both times her assists were good, they were glitched, and the ones that functioned as intended sucked, so that clearly wasn’t even their intention with her.

I don’t know about Nemesis, but there’s the Not A Hero DLC that’s being released soon for RE7, so I would expect Chris Redfield and Albert Wesker to return in some way or form because of that as far as Resident Evil reps are concerned. :expressionless:

If Capcom wants to promote RE7 in this game the best way to do it is to use a character that’s unique to that game. Jack Baker will be the ideal choice for this. Chris got nothing to do with the main game and only appears in the ending.

Chris isn’t even that great anyway.
Give us Leon, Ada, and/or classic Jill.

I can do without Chris and Leon. Those two are the most overexposed RE protagonists. I would be fine with anyone else.

Leon hasn’t been in a fighter yet. Jill has been playable in two of the three. Chris got in on 3. It’s Leon’s turn.

Jack Baker himself is not unique so that kind of defeats the purpose of having him in the game. Baker wouldn’t be at all scary here in the context of his own game he may be scary despite all his cheesy lines. However in a Vs game he is just an old man of the same size as everybody else with a beer belly telling bad jokes. He would be a meme fad at best with a "Welcome to the Family, son! " super.

It is not the same as having Nemesis in a vs game for example whose design stands out as a grotesque big body with a ton of move list potential complete with intimidating music. You can have zero experience with Resident Evil 3 and know what Nemesis is about right away. I don’t see how anybody could want Jack over any other Resident Evil popular character over Chris, Jill, Leon, Ada, Claire, Barry, Wesker, Nemesis,T-002, T-003 aka Mr.X and others? Because those are his immediate peers.

Also does Resident Evil VII even have music? What would Jack Baker’s theme possibly be?

Jack Baker is pretty much RE7’s face, and that’s enough of a reason. Hell, they made a moveset for Phoenix Wright. I would be in for his inclusion if not for Frank West having chainsaw normals too.
