MvC Infinite CHARACTER Speculation/Request Thread

Juggs or lynch mob

I won’t hold my breath of fire for an onimusha character.

The Capcom side of the roster is always somewhat of a toss up. You have a few mainstays (SF, RE, MM, DMC ) and from there it could be whatever Capcom thinks would be interesting. Since we got word that they plan on reviving some titles, I assume whichever ones get revived will get some representation.

As for which ones? I’m thinking titles with genres that Capcom doesn’t already have a decent foothold in.

Is there any old franchises that fit that? Only one I can think of is Platformers, but Mega Man might be making a comeback this year.

Capcom says they want to expand CPT/CFN & I can’t imagine they meant just by one game (Marvel), so I think Rival Schools or Power Stone are likely.

Power Stone, Rival Schools, Ghosts n Goblins & Dino Crisis are the most likely candidates for revival IMO. I’d love to see Viewitful Joe, Okami & God Hand too but I doubt that.

Got big hopes for Gene, they said before he was basicalpy confirmed for UMVC3 if they had the time for 20 characters instead of 12.

Also Captain Commando plz

Captain Commando is a revival I can get behind. I only got to play it once or twice, but it was a pretty fun beat 'em up and Capcom hasn’t been making too many of those recently. Also he’s CapCom. Can’t beat that.

Edit: on a slightly off topic note, I looked up the origin of Capcom’s name out of curiosity and found this: http://www.capcom.co.jp/ir/english/company/name.html

They seem to have deviated from their original design philosophy by quite a large margin, lol.

Seriously though, if they put Mojo in the game I’d be retardedly happy.
If this guy made it too I could have the super ugly piss off people with
retarded arse gameplay team I’ve always wanted. His moveset could be
ridiculously random since the damn comic character makes little sense
anyway.

you have no idea what youre talking about, venom is one of the most fun characters to play in mvc1

What UMVC3 characters do you guys think would shine on a 1v1 setting? And what characters would fall down?

Depends on how the movesets are designed. If characters are getting reworked so that they aren’t reliant on assists then everyone should work, but if you’re talking about the characters as is then obviously all the good anchors would do well aside from maybe Phoenix (and this includes characters that are better in other positions but still make good anchors, like Zero).

Since we’re working without assists in MVCI the characters that are given the most tools (useful ones, of course) will be stronger in more situations. I anticipate characters like Strange and Dante to be like that. Then there are characters that are really good at one playstyle. I anticipate Hulk and whoever takes Wolvie’s role will be really good as well. The rest are dependent on how strong mixups will be and how stupid the hitboxes on normals will get.

I feel like Viewtiful Joe can be really good without having to deal with the opposing character + some sort of Beam or hidden missiles if they change how Red Hot Kick worked.

I think Wesker would be pretty strong in a 1v1 setting. Interesting in how Spidey will look in Infinite.

It’s really hard to find UMVC3 1v1 matches, but that shit is fun.

Cool. But why no supers? To prevent lightning loops? (I have no idea if they’re possible to perform without assists)

you can perform them without assists

Zero was the best solo character in the game because there were no limitations to his kit that needed to be filled by assists. He only needed them to help with mixups and to countercall the opponent’s. His use of assists in combos was mainly to tack on damage rather than continue an otherwise impossible combo like other characters. A kit as complete as his should be the standard for MVCI(the otgs for days and the meter positive loops can go though).

Maybe they will go the opposite direction. Instead of making a character lacking a otg to push the usage of assists, they will push the usage of a specific stone.

That would defeat the purpose of the stone choice then. If every character is designed to have a clearly superior stone, then why bother having other choices?

It’s very possible that the character **might **be great in various areas with more than one stone. If that’s the case, you’ll have to choose which stone best adheres to your style or the matchup you’re using it for. I don’t doubt that some Infinity stones will compliment certain characters more than others, but that’s kinda to be expected in this type of game.

I don’t think it’s possible to create a system like that and not have an obvious best choice. My only hope is that some characters aren’t entirely reliant on a specific setup to be viable.
