Cool, then again early Venom was terribly one dimensional even though cool at the time. He would have lost his luster quickly I suppose if he didn’t get past spidey hate and eating brains. He was kind of the first Spidey clone-ish type (more directly first Marvel copy cat evil version character…I could be wrong, that I remember anyway) I’m sure if I followed past his first solo comic I might have found the direction more interesting.
I was ultimately disappointed with his incarnation in Marvel fighting games though. He just wasn’t that interesting to play. Then again my characters generally have a tall order to fill if I’m going to like them. See Profile pic ha! Going into MVC3 I swore I’d play Deadpool, Taskmaster (who were at the time 2 of my favorite Marvel Characters.) I totally went to a DOK/DORM/DOOM team.

I do agree. While I want to keep reading him, if they negate all the growth he’s had for ages, it wont be worth it. I’d rather have him as Anti-Venom and have Flash as Agent Venom. (I want a symbiote team up book hah). There is speculation that he’s coming back for issue 6 and staying till the Anniversary issue that’s billed as Venom 150 (even though for this current volume it’s like issue 8 or something). I honestly don’t know, but am checking it out cautiously.
I am at least expecting Magneto and Storm, but with how petty the whole Marvel/Fox thing has been it’s possible we see none on the initial roster. I’m very confident OML will be the default Logan whenever he shows up and X-23 is definitely returning in some form, as they are not only the cinematic focus with Fox but also the current comic incarnations which is a rare opportunity for Marvel to profit from Fox.
