MvC Infinite CHARACTER Speculation/Request Thread

I liked that run for the individual characters (especially Songbird and Pennance), but I wasn’t a fan of the team as a whole, especially not with Osborn in charge.

Back in Black ended, but yeah.

If anyone gets an exception, it’ll probably be Wade.

Agree to disagree, because Osborn being in charge was one of the best things about it, especially when he lost it and put the Goblin uniform on again.

Would Silver Surfer be someone that’s considered relevant nowadays?

The Surfer currently has a solo and was a major character in Marvel Superhero Squad a few years back so yes. Though Fox has the film rights to the character so it hurts his chances.

I also really don’t see Doom getting excluded from the initial roster over this Fox BS. Let’s all keep in mind these rights issues existed at the time of MVC3’s inception too. They might be bigger now, but unless Fox could outright deny Marvel to include him Doom is too important to the Marvel Universe to disappear over something so trivial.

It’s not really trivial and this wasn’t an issue with MvC3. That was before Ike Perlmutter decided to exclude F4 and X-Men characters from merchandise and promotional materials.

Back then they didn’t have a problem with the X-Men being in the game, but they didn’t want them dominating the roster either.

But it’s not impossible for them to make an exception for Doom, he is currently the star of Infamous Iron Man.

Oh, did it? I haven’t been reading it, thought it was still going. Regardless, he still has a ton.

I also think Doom might get in because Fox will surely give up on making FF movies after they keep being giant failures.

Doom has always been safe from dumb company politics. Doom is Marvel’s premiere villain. Marvel still uses him in comics, TV and games when all the other FF characters and X-Men have been barred from use.

There’s a guy that voted for Eddie Brock (Venom/Anti-Venom/Toxin), Juggernaut (Cain Marko/Colossus), Fou-lu and Nemesis. I don’t remember voting on reddit. What the fuck?

Just to clarify, FOX can’t deny shit. It’s Ike Pearlmutter who has a grudge for not having the FILM rights, so he fucks X-men and FF on every other media so FOX doesn’t get free marketing.

Fox had been holding the rights for X-men/FF in film before MVC3. The decision to exclude characters from promotional media may have come after but that isn’t what I’m talking about. Inhumans, which were a part of Marvel long before this dispute, were virtually becoming repurposed as a pseudo-replacement for X-Men around the time of MVC3’s development/release. What I’m getting at is that the inclusion of these characters didn’t really do much to influence this dispute one way or the other, as both Marvel and Fox had their own agendas anyway. That is why I called it trivial: it doesn’t matter in the grand scheme of things. Tbh, even considering excluding these characters from the initial roster while planning to sell them as dlc at the same time has me scratching my head…

Tabasa… Needs to be

No, the Inhumans thing started after MvC3, you need to get your timeline right.

Inhumans getting a higher profile started with the Infinity event, in 2013. MvC3 and UMVC3 came out in 2011 and there wasn’t much with the Inhumans back then. They barely showed up anywhere.

And a little after that was when they started excluding the X-Men and F4 from their games. So no, it wasn’t an issue when MvC3 was in development, which was before the Avengers movie came out and made it big.

And it’s not trivial, since we’re talking about the CEO having a table tantrum.

I never knew much about Tessa until I saw her in Pocket Fighter and later SNK Vs Capcom Chaos.

She’s a pretty cool character.

I want to see Tessa in the game to be Capcom’s magical counterpart to Strange.

I remember when I wanted (insert character here) and everybody said nah its not happening for (x reason) and sure enough they got in. why i brought this up there was so much salt i seasoned my chicken.

I’m LOLing. That Ryan.ce or Ryce is also known as CAW Evolution on the GFAQS MVC3 boards, i’m loling that he is claiming to have inside info and that people are believing it (that’s if this Ryan from gfaqs is the same Ryce from Neogaf). If they are the same, i am can speculate that guy doesn’t know anything. He probably just strolled at the area they were going to announce MVCI, saw it, and that’s the end of the story for him. Again, that is Caw_Evolution from Gfaqs, the last time he was talking about character reveals was during MVC3 and how daredevil was or should be in it.

You’re confusing when the issues were published with when they were conceived. It’s not as if they didn’t have their direction planned out a year or two in advance. Things like the latest Secret Wars were mapped out multiple years ahead. Besides, if anything UMVC3 is one of the many things proving that Marvel’s issues with Fox aren’t as straightforward as everyone likes to think. Marvel knew that UMVC3 was promoting Fox’s Days of Future Past movie, but went ahead and let the stage and Sentinel skin through. They knew Fox had rights to Deadpool, but are promoting him harder than ever. They retconned Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch’s lineage to take away their “mutant” tag, only to kill off Quicksilver in Age of Ultron so Fox can have him for X-Men Apocalypse. Their relationship is complicated, but I’m highly skeptical Marvel is going to forgo including some of their most involved characters just to spite a comany that has been doing what they want regardless this whole time (with the help of Marvel, at times).

My honest opinion? There will be X-Men in the initial roster in addition to whatever dlc plans ryce leaked earlier. There was no confirmation that we can’t get both, and I have a feeling that dlc pack is going to have a more focused theme besides “here are your X-Men”.

Nope, but you are. Infinity was conceived after MvC3.

You’re also forgetting that MvC3 came out before the Avengers film, thus before the MCU truly boomed.

It’s clear that you don’t know what you are talking about, since all evidence on the matter prove you wrong.

Not really, since that was before Ike Perlmutter had his tantrum. Again, it seems like you don’t actually know the timeline of the events leading to Perlmutter’s ban on F4 and X-Men.

That was also way before the Days of Future Past, so what are you even talking about?

Also, MCU Quicksilver died because Josh Whendon wanted Quicksilver to die in the film to “show how high the stakes were”, not so FOX could have him.

And Marvel’s issues with FOX all come from Ike Perlmutter. So it is very straight forward.

As for Secret Wars, Hickman didn’t start planning on it until after he started working on the Avengers, which was in 2012. Again, after MVC3 had come out.

I was mainly referring to the Capcom side, which is bound to have a lot of niche picks. I’d say Tessa from Warzard, a Cyberbots rep and a Power Stone rep are all going to happen, which are all pretty obscure.

I’ve never heard of half the characters you mentioned. Who the fuck is Ronan? Why would they use Ivan from Iron Man 2, a lame bush leaguer villain that died the quickest and most anticlimactic death possible? I don’t know anything about Agent Coulson, Jessica Jones or Luke Cage. These picks are really obscure to me, I’ve never heard of any of these people. They’re hardly who I think of when I think headliner Marvel characters. I think it’s naive to believe that the majority of characters are going to be newcomers and all have the same bodytype. Where are the giants, midgets and weirdos in the list you brought up? I’m not seeing them.
