MvC Infinite CHARACTER Speculation/Request Thread

He is basically in the same boat as Haggar a little bit. Both characters had decent assists of their own and TOD.

Iron Fist’s Chi powers were both tricky and OP though. If he had some better air mobility, he would be an Upper Mid character at minimum.

It’s not even air mobility that kept him back, he just had godawful confirms/options against someone like MODOK or Doom at super jump height. Akuma, Haggar, and Chris are all examples of ground-based characters that can cause a ground bounce from an air chain and follow up on it. On top of this, his neither is cr.L or cr.M hit low, and using cr.H or S put people into the air, which is exactly where you don’t want them. So he can’t combo from the air, and can’t start good combos from a low. Capcom never gave him anything worthwhile in exchange either, so he was just garbage by design.

Makes me wonder if Danny would’ve been addressed in the patch that was scrapped because the license ran out.

I wish we could actually see the proposed changes in that update.

So, would anyone want to see a change to his hypers? Or should they remain intact?

I liked Iron Fist hypers. They should stay the same.

So, they said stones work like grooves. But I never played CvS. Could someone explain to me how it worked? Will I have to activate the stone to use it’s effects, or will I get a minor buff from the beginning of the fight?
The latter seems to be the best option in my head. Have Hulk have 10% buff on speed from the beginning, then let him cancel normals and teleport upon xfactor-like activation.

Grooves basically gave you access to different things.

C Groove gave you 2 super gauges like Alpha, rolls, air blocking, dash, etc
A Groove gave you the Custom Combo feature from Alpha 2, dash, rolls, safe falls, counterattacks, etc
P Groove was similar to SF3. It gave you Parries, dashes, single meter, etc
S Groove gave you meter charging-up from KOF, run, dodge, hop, etc
N Groove was like KOF '98 and gave you MAX mode, Power stocks that give you lvl 1 supers, the ability to power up and increase damage, or counter move out of pressure, run, roll, hops, safe falls, etc
K Groove gave you a rage gauge like Garou and Samurai Shodown, Just Defend (blocking at the last minute to get out of block stun quicker), safe falls, etc

That’s just a quick explanation. Most of these modes are ones I’ve never used myself.

So that’s pretty much how it was. Your fighting style varied based on what Groove you selected.

I know it’s probably going to be different, but (for the sake of speculation) the gems are activated based off of Marvel Super Heroes.

Though I have to wonder if certain gems will give certain characters different types of powers ups al a MSH or specific special upgrades are assigned to each gem and each character gets grouped to each gem based on that (i.e Captain Marvel and Nova will get teleport dashes with the Time gem along with sped up attacks, but characters like Iron Man only get sped up attacks if the Time gem is used).

Niitsuma put out some tweets about MvC3 character development:

Rough translations by Fubarduck:

  • Nova: Had been strongly pushed by Marvel since Vanilla MVC3. “He’s required for the next version” we were told.
  • Ghost Rider: He was indeed popular/well-known. We saw that the “motorcycle issue”, could be compromised by including it in his move set.
  • Doctor Strange: Pushed super hard by Marvel. We thought we’d be able to make him unique as a “magic” user - he was really fun to work on.
  • Rocket Raccoon:We were actually feeling out Squirrel Girl at the same time, but the Raccoon army beat out the Squirrel army in the office.
  • Blade: Too many components that would’ve come from Dante I think…
  • Spider-Woman: The flying and electricity would’ve been too similar to Trish…
  • Psylocke: Well-known, good design, and having Strider as a rival would’ve been interesting - but the fans’ voices just weren’t loud enough.
  • Spiral: From the previous title. Creating a fencer with 6 arms plus magic would’ve been crazy hard - please forgive me!
  • Cloak and Dagger: Has a huge aesthetic impact, and if we treated it like a stand from Jojo’s it would definitely be interesting! But in a mirror match w/assists, you’d have absolutely no idea what was happening on the screen. And I mean, double the work, no way!
  • Multiple Man: Like I said - workload.

These makes it seem like Nova and Dr Strange are guaranteed to return, with high likelihood for Ghost Rider and Rocket.
The Psylocke comment is legitimately surprising. Assuming there’s no licensing issues I’d say her chances went up a lot.
If Trish is NOT returning, then that means we actually could get Spider-Woman?
Sounds like a soft de-confirm for Blade, Spiral, and Multiple Man, though with the loss of assists maybe C&D still have a shot?

Don’t they have their own series coming up too?

Yeah, Cloak and Dagger have their own TV series coming soon.

Most of the others (as far as I’m aware) like Nova, Ghost Rider, Blade, Spider-Woman, Blade, Spiral and Multiple Man either:

  1. Currently have their own comic book run, or are apart of one (Nova, Ghost Rider, Spider-Woman, Psylocke),
  2. Not relevant (Blade, Spiral [as far as I know]),
  3. Or dead (Multiple Man, might change with resurrxion).

So there’s basically some buffs you have from start, and other you have to activate?

You get them from the start. You have to select your groove before getting to the character select screen.

Yeah, basically you start off with rolls and stuff. The fighting style revolves around the whole groove. Things like Custom Combos (A Groove) are what you would have access to once you have enough meter. So yeah, in that sense, it’s only accessible once you have enough meter. For example, Yun lacks his Genei-Jin in Capcom Vs SNK2, but can replicate this Super Art through A Groove. Stuff like roll escapes cost a meter, among a few other things. Besides that, everything else is already there. It’s just a matter of building a style around it, though some people work better with certain Grooves. So you’re not activating them like you would Gems. Hopefully that makes sense.

I have a feeling it’ll likely be a mix of Grooves and what we saw in Marvel Super Heroes. More comparable to Marvel Super Heroes. The main thing now is understanding if they’re in effect before you actually activate them. I also want to see what something like Space would do.

Iron Fist is basically Mahvel’s Fei Long. If Capcom doesn’t wanna give him to us in SFV, at least give us one in MVCI

I want to see which character will be the first to have special mechanics in Infinite. You had Phoenix Wright with the evidence/stance change systems and Frank West with the Lvl up system. If Daredevil was in, I could see him having a special system based around his radar sense and Billy Clubs. Could even give him stance changes.

By “next version” he’s likely talking about Ultimate, not the new game.

All these tweets have to do with MvC3 and UMvC3. Remember, Niitsuma has nothing to do with MvC:I.

I hope Multiple Man could be a dlc

He is also Akira Yuki too, such as having Rimon Chochu (s.H), Tetsuzanko (qcf+S (too bad its 2nd special cancel only)), Renkantai (qcb+H), a non-knockdown ver. of Byakko Soshoda (b.H) & a similar combo as Shura Haoh’kokazan (qcb+L > qcf+L > qcf+S)

How about we getting he super hero squad?

I dont buy this bs at all
