for 2 on 2 and a reboot, i kind of want a smaller cast. irealize im in the extreme minority but id be happy with a solid GOOD roster of 24, 12 per side, no goofy characters. save that for dlc…let shit like viewtiful joe be an optional download, seeing characters get in because theyre wacky and different over fan favorites doesnt make sense to me but oh well
Here is the thing MvC2, MvC3 and UMvC3 were all 3v3 games with huge rosters. 56, 38 and 50 total.
MvCI will be 2v2 which means the game will function without a large roster, only four characters are in play at any given time compared to six.
Before MvC2 the versus games were 2v2 like Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men vs Street Fighter and Marvel vs Capcom the rosters were 17, 17 and 15.
Add the fact that DLC is a huge thing and take examples of SFV season one DLC and season two DLC plus the rumor that X-Men will be DLC.
All of this points to the MvCI initial roster being smaller than MvC2, MvC3 or UMvC3 and DLC characters being a big focus post launch.
The initial roster will most likely be MCU heavy, pretty much any character who isn’t in a recent or upcoming Marvel MCU project won’t make the launch roster and will be DLC down the road.
FYI for anyone who hasnt watched the Netflix series I’m pretty sure those count towards the MCU since in Luke Cage, Daredevil and Jessica Jones they briefly talk about the Avengers as part of the ongoing super hero revolution. This includes Iron Fist and Punisher who are also getting their own Netflix shows.
Agree. What i am saying is that they probably import and update previous assets and elements like previous 3D models and functions to compromised and work around their new choosen game development tool(UE4). Because usually 3D models are done externally in a 3d modelling program then imported in UE4. Unlike SF4 to SF5 that has everything entirely scratch even from concepts and functions.
The new Daredevil comic has this villain called Muse (aka Vincent Van gore) now and he looks fucking sick and demented yo!!! He’s a psychotic serial killer who uses the internal organs of his victims to create, “art”.
Viewtiful Joe would be awesome imo, he was pretty unique in MvC3. I think they should definitely add a least a few “goofy” characters at launch, because some people play those style characters exclusively. We don’t all want to only play Ryu and Ironman…
You think Civil War II will have a big impact on the Marvel side of the roster? I didn’t pay too much attention to it before since I had skipped that arc of the comics, but seeing how the first two Marvel characters were Captain Marvel and Iron Man we may see more influential members of that storyline join the cast. I REALLY wish we knew when the next reveal was happening so all this speculation we’re doing doesn’t feel so aimless.
If you’re going to make wild speculations, at least provide a fighting style.
I’m inclined to think MvCI is too lighthearted to include dedicated psychotic serial killers. Nemesis is probably the most serious it’s roster has gone, as anyone more ‘evil/deadly’ is a corny supervillain like Wesker, Bison, Doom or Dormammu. Even Thanos, a dude who’s killed half of the known universe before, is not as dark as someone like Joker or this Muse person. And it’s not even a matter of ‘Oh, these characters have done far worse in comics, here’s an instance of that’. MvC is a game where superheroes fight one another in cartoony combat that’s pleasing to the eye. A character noted for being bloody/murderiffic will AT LEAST be highly toned down (Deadpool, Wolverine, Sabretooth). If that is core to the character, like Muse here, Capcom will choose someone else rather than disrupt the tone to be accurate. Otherwise, we’d have another ‘Why doesn’t Snake use guns in Brawl’ issue on our hands.
TL;DR Capcom can’t translate the character’s tone to MvCI without causing problems
If Yipes is right in saying that the game has been in development since late 2014, early 2015, Time Runs Out and Secret Wars would have a bigger impact on the game’s roster.
Even then, I wouldn’t think said events would affect the roster of Marvel side that much anyway.
I could easily see Carnage getting in despite that. He’s a mass murderer, but the character, as well as his stories, are filled with funny moments. Carnage Vs Deadpool, Superior Carnage, and a few others had some pretty hilarious moments. I think someone like Bullseye is far darker based on his demonstrations alone. All they’d have to do is give Carnage his blade like attacks, the organic “web” projectile he likes to us, and a bunch of other stuff to make him translate in this game.
Out of the few Spider-Man villains (Ock, Green Goblin, Carnage, Hobgoblin) I’d like to see in, all of them have darkness to them. Maybe not on the level of Muse, but it’s still there. A character I definitely don’t see making it in without being toned down beyond recognition is Red Skull. They’d have to literally turn him into a different person.
