It’s a video game, they can easily add some wierd game mechanic shit to make any character work really. They allude to a lot of characters in this game through support so be ready to see
capcom flex it’s muscles if that turns out to be true. I mean shit they made phoenix wright work. (And all characters don’t have to be good.)
I guess my point is moreso that Winter Soldier is boring in concept. It’s not that they couldn’t make him unique…my question is: why bother? There are plenty of MCU characters that are inherently more unique, popular and relevant. I don’t hate Winter Soldier per se, but having him in the game IMO is like putting Ken in the game: just unneccessary.
Winter Solider is one of the MCU’s only celeberated villians so he will make it.
Plus it’ll be easy for them to play a rivalry between Spencer and WS. Spencer saying how WS is weak for using more than his arm to win or something
Doc Ock? Red Skull? Yellow Jacket? Green Goblin? Loki? Hela?..you get the point. Every movie has had a prominent villain show up, all about equally or even more celebrated a villain as Winter Soldier (who btw is not even a true villain). All the characters I mentioned would easily be more unique and interesting in the game than him. If they wanted a Cap villain that shares abilities with other characters, Red Skull would have been a better choice (he would likely use Hydra minions similar to how Ultron uses drones, but with some unique twist). If we’re talking villains, we should be taking the level of evil beyond brainwashed Russian puppet.
I still think it’s bullshit that they want to follow the MCU but aren’t doing Star-Lord or Loki. I think people would be more forgiving of no X-Men if they put in the effort to add those kinds of characters.
Agreed. They seem like obvious DLC choices though, and I feel like Gamora got the nod over Peter for a second Gaurdians rep due to being female and having the relation to Thanos, since that’s going to be a plot point in the Story.

Hell, I think a revamped War Machine could be awesome. I’ve thought this since before MvC3 came out when I thought they’d add him because he was in Iron Man 2 lol. There’s a ton of ways to make him different from Tony.
And ComboFiend clearly didn’t believe in the function comment, but if they really wanted a “Magneto function” then Vision would’ve been that. He makes more sense with the crazy movement than Magneto anyway lol

I think Vision was considered at one point for UMvC3, but they couldn’t find a satisfactory way to represent him.

Who in the game so far would you say is the most exciting confirmed character and which would you say is the most boring/unnecessary confirmed character?
Exciting: either Captain Marvel or Gamora haha I forgot about JEDAH

Least exciting is Nemesis. Just…why. Ryu would be the other choice, but you gotta have the ordinary guy fighting all of the maverick robots, techno ninjas and inhumans

I’m really happy to see a modern version of Thanos in a MvC game. Unfortunately, I’m not happy about idiot-proofed MagnetoNova.
Doc Ock and Green Goblin aren’t MCU yet. Yellow Jacket and Red Skull are cool but not culturally impactful villains as far as the MCU goes they can wait.
Bucky is not a real villain but he is an antagonist the third landmark one in the MCU only behind Thanos, and Loki in popularly as far as antagonist role not necessarily villains go in the MCU. Also arguably Marvels best movie to date is centered in large part around him.
Now all that said he has plenty of moveset potential there is no real reason to not expect him in the game or to groan about it.
Ultimately I don’t care that much, but I was just expressing my personal opinion on Winter Soldier as a new addition. Anyways, do we have the first 6 dlc picks narrowed down yet?

BP and Sigma were officially revealed, we’ve seen Winter Soldier, Venom and Monster Hunter on the zip leak, we know that another character reveal is coming at Gamescom and official reveals as of now have included about 4-5 new characters and a stone. With Dormammu and Firebrand locked in, we need 2 more to make it an even roster. Most likely picks for those would be Jedah and Ghost Rider (though it could just as easily be Venom), which means the Marvel side is figured out. Capcom though…is it possible Grandmaster Meio is actually playable? Or do y’all think it could be someone not mentioned in any leak?
Jedah is clearly the most exciting and by far the best reveal thus far.
