MvC Infinite CHARACTER Speculation/Request Thread

Then I declare they should make him suck so he is seen as a hero when he emerges rather than a tool for tier whores that won’t get respect

Such is the struggle of all Capcom big bodies.

When did I say I was pulling for 'Gief. Last time I mentioned him, I merely said that he was viable in XvSF. Doesn’t mean I want him in the game.

And lets not downplay the fact that KBR won because of his skill, not because of his team. Saying otherwise is like saying that Alex is suddenly viable and that 3rd Strike isn’t imbalanced because Genki won with Alex against Boss’s Yun at Coop Cup GFs.

It was completely because of his team. Are you insane? You think he could’ve pulled that off with any other team? That’s the one he practiced the most.

In a lot of cases “viability” is about how you use the characters.

That doesn’t mean the team is any more viable than it is. One player mastering a character/team and winning with it does not magically move it up the tier list. Again, refer to the 3S, Coop Cup example.

Uh huh.

So remind me again, this whole argument is predicated on your idea that Hugo would be shit if he got in, right? And so far you’ve only used completely anecdotal and circumstantial evidence as to why this would be the case, and then did nothing to counteract the real examples where you got proven wrong. So tell me why Hugo can’t be good again? And tell me why it matters if he isn’t? I know you don’t know much about making games, but no character is designed to deliberately be crap. It’s a crap shoot where they fall on the tier placement after they get announced. The whole purpose of Hugo is to give an alternative to the other grapplers that have appeared.

So if Hugo was in Marvel he’d have all that Marvel shit, but if Zangief was in the game he wouldn’t? Lol wtf are you talking about? Incoherent rambling.

“real examples” (goes into speculation)

KBRS team basically sends Hulk pretty nicely up the tier list. Hulk is a very difficult to TOD big body character with meterless TODs on that team off everything including air throws. Hulk is a character that does far better in neutral and vs zoning than people were admitting at the time. This is a character that Vergil has to respect and he usually doesn’t have to respect any one other than Dark Phoenix. He’s also generally top tier on point at the round start because he has a ton of options to beat button pressing at the start of rounds that’s typically tough to beat from characters like Magneto and Wolverine on point. The amount of thinking you have to do to land a clean hit on Hulk strapped with lariat and drones assist is nearly quantum theory worthy. While the thought process for that team landing a hit on you is nowhere near as involved.

The team doesn’t change Haggar or Sents tier much, but Hulk essentially becomes top tier or very close to it on that team IMHO. Then if they die, Haggar and Sent can still handle themselves.

I feel like I’m arguing with a 12 year old kind posting on GameFAQs. Just because one player does well with a team/character does not mean that the character/team in question automatically moves up the tier list. Their problems don’t magically go away. All that happens is that the one player in question masters the characters enough to get over said problems and issues.

And no, nobody designs a character to be bad (not unless they’re named Dan), but that doesn’t mean that every character can be made good. There are limits imposed by stuff, like the characters existing design (for veterans and those coming in from other fighting games), and even their archetype. On the last bit, Capcom style big body grapplers have always been hard to get right, because they tend to be the type that feel strong at the start - because all their damage is easily achieved, but that means that they tend to have their space for creativity limited, simply because of the threat of them being too strong. And that’s just in traditional, SF games. It gets even worse in the Versus series, because their traditional archetype - having to walk their opponents down, and pay with life, doesn’t really work in the Versus series.

That’s why I do think KBR Hulk is essentially top tier or close to it. That team breaks most of the traditional issues that Hulk has. Originally he had to get rid of a strong neutral assist in order to OTG, but with drones he can now take up neutral space and use specials to fight through zoning. Which combined with his health means he can make more mistakes vs zoning, land a hit and then still win the game with meterless TODs. KBR Hulk has pseudo 300 percent possibilities if your first character dies since most characters can’t survive his meterless combos after incoming that include pure guess 50 50 and command grab setups unto TODs. The success rate on KBR Hulk incoming mix ups is absurdly high to the point where it can be almost considered unblockable

Counting Vanilla, Haggar has won EVO more times than anyone not named Vergil or Doctor Doom. Respect the damn pipe!

Haggar was on the datamine list. Arguing about big bodies is pointless. I wonder if Venom will be the Marvel big body other than Hulk. Nemesis-Venom could be a pair based on symbiosis and tentacles, and Haggar-Hulk be muscle dudes. Or Nemesis-Hulk for giant fucks and Haggar-Thor for grapples. The former is more interesting imo.

All this talk of KBR winning EVO makes my head shudder; I will not miss UMvC3 at all.

You guys are forgetting the primary reason Hugo shouldn’t be in Marvel: He’s a stupid fucking character and doesn’t deserve to be anything other than a disposable thug in Final Fight.

Honestly, while KBR won in the latter part of UMVC3’s lifespan and from what I’ve seen he’s kind of a scrotum. His win with a big body team is pretty historical in fighting game history. How many majors are won with a Big Body character in general (much less 3 of them) As a big body player he earned that shit.

Nostalgia Fighters characters

Mech Akuma = (Capcom’s Terminator) Obviously not the same with Boss Cyber Akuma other than visuals and not also too similar with UMVC3 Akuma.

He gets flight mode. His Tenmakujinkyaku returns to XvS/MvS multi hit style, He retains his electric tatsu, srk, teleport and double air hadouken but has no regular hadoken instead gets a slow start up version the Shakunetsu Hadouken 3 hit. while his D,FD,F+P command is now Homing Rocket Fist a short range homing projectile that returns to Cyber Akuma arm. LP for Diagonal Upward and HP for Horizontal Forward.

His super are no longer beams instead change into barrage of rocket/missile like his Gou Agyo in UMVC3.

Others

Devilot that plays with the combination of Trone Bonne in MVC and Doronjo in TVC

Plasma Sword Rep = Jun/Saturn Dyer that plays like Yatterman-1 in TVC

Mech Zangief - Yeah another of the exclusive street fighter in the crossover series

Power Stone Rep = Rouge probably unique playstyle
Rival School Rep = Shoma the baseball bat guy, better than batsu
Warzard Rep = Hauzer Unique movesets
Vampire Savior Rep = Adult Anita What if Character in VS combination of Donovan, MSH Anita and Mariah in JJBA
Ruby Heart = Nostalgia Character
Ingrid = Fan demands

… KBR’s team was high tier, at least when judging from the team combinations we’ve seen (there was about 1.6m possible combinations or so). While characters individual tiers and inherent tools did have it’s place, the fact it is a team game not only means that characters individual ability wasn’t that significant, but the way in which they were used could make them transcend their tiering.

Chun Li was (lower) mid at best, especially if you just consider her range and damage output. But utilize her runaway capabilities, conversions of practically every situation (barring situational solo superjump height and ground throws) and infinites, you have a top tier team when used with Morrigan’s Dark Harmonizer and Jean in the back (yes RyanLV’s team is one of the best in the game. **** you talking 'bout).

If I wasn’t a character loyalist… or perhaps more appropriately- if I am bothered to even play Infinite, I would be leaning towards two beam characters (likely Strange and Ultron). Haggar would be good up close and for tags off his lariat, if it maintains its upperbody invincibility… if he’s in the game (from the leak track record it’s not even speculation at this point- it’s reveals).

Though at this point, I’m more concerned about how to use the games mechanics (e.g gems) and tag system to make a character viable, rather than their inherent strengths.

What’s receiving worst feedback? Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite, or the Inhumans TV series trailer?

Capcom should include the TV version of the Inhumans as new functions replacing those of the X-Men characters.

Then the Internet would explode.

Spoiler

Never new about the Inhumans trailer. To be honest, when I found out they decided to drop the Inhumans film in place of a TV series, and with how they resolved IvX, I figured they lost faith in the Inhumans. So I’m not surprised the trailer is getting bad feedback. Although I will say the criticisms of Infinite have been trivial- upset over graphics, not the gameplay. And most of the complainers aren’t even Marvel players anyway to even begin with)

I would have liked Medusa, Karnak and Blackbolt to have appeared in Infinite. Although I hate the Inhumans as a collective.

hastagTeamX-Men

Edit: [details=Spoiler] just watched the trailer. Professor Thorgi did say Inhumans were GOT in space. I didn’t have too many issues other than Blackbolt’s voice seeming to have been nerfed[/details]
