Villager is fucking trash. I can’t warp my head around wanting a blank slate of a character over the monsters. The monsters are the draw of Monster Hunter. Thing is, Monster Hunter does have a face. The series usually has a signature monster for each entry and proudly use it in the game’s promotion. The current game Generations has four signature monsters. Mizutsune would be great in Marvel.
I would rather play as a monster than some lame pretty boy who “summons” monsters.
It’s like asking to play as a cultist who can summon Shuma Gorath. Why can’t I just play as Shuma Gorath? Why does there have to be a lame generic middleman in between me and the thing I want to play as?
I don’t see the fun of summoning monsters and weapon switching. For one thing, monster summoning is not a thing you can do in Monster Hunter. You have a cat companion to aid you in quests if your playing solo and that’s it. Dante and Ammy already got weapon switching on lock and it’s an essential part of their games. In Monster Hunter you are locked to set until a hunt is finished. There’s no switching between twin blades, lances, gunlances, great swords, etc during a hunt.
It’s fucking Marvel Vs Capcom. You guys go to extreme lenghts to justify not having a character you don’t like.
Dante was locked to 2 weapons, 2 guns and one style on DMC3. I don’t know about RE5 Chris, but you couldn’t carry the amount of guns he uses. A lot of characters have limitations on their games, and MVC is a way to put down those limitations.
The monster summoning part could be a super with the Hunter running like in the game, with Rathalos going after him.
More like, you go to extreme lengths to justify having stupid characters that don’t work or make any sense in the game.
“Hey guys why isn’t the guy who delivers Dante’s pizza playable? He could do amazing things like stuffing hot peppers in your eyes or dumping melted cheese on you”
[people list a giant number of reasons why it’s a dumb idea]
“Bah you guys are just assholes!”
I’m not into the nameless hunter and whatever monster, I’m more into the cat mascot “Felyne” that has several independent games and more popular, lovable, glorified and admirable by their fans than the nameless hunter and any monster in terms of branding and games in Japan and Monster Hunter gamers.
Storm is along the most iconic Xmen characters even compared to the other marvel character because their is no alternative for her or she is the most iconic to use that power, while there are so many psychic/telekinesis/force, feral and strong female characters outside the xmen team in the marvel universe.
It’s Marvel vs Capcom but Capcom doesn’t stray from how the characters play from their respective games. Arthur plays very much like he did in GnG, Viewtiful Joe isn’t to different from his series, Phoenix Wright were mechanics reworked to fit a fighting game context.
Haven’t played Monster Hunter but don’t the Felynes actually fight? That’d already make them better than Servbot; Servbot was the epitome of joke character, I think a Felyne could become a decent character. Especially if you throw in other stuff from the games into its moveset, maybe its supers could involve the monsters or something.
Agree and it’s inevitable for them they would surely be like Servebot, but if Capcom can do awesome special moves and supers they would make them away from servebot and be more like R.Racoon, V.Joe and Arthur combined.
Good idea! Guess it’s time my update my possible roster and DLC speculations.

Capcom did add nemesis because they wanted a big body character for their franchise. Its not far fetched for them to have a monster as a rep. Though, weapon switching would get me so hyped.
