I was bored out of my mind so I decided to come up with what I think the possible base roster will look like including characters that’ll be possible as DLC.
CAPCOM: Ryu, Charlie Nash, Chun-Li, Captain Commando, Dante (DMC4), Trish (DMC4), Mega Man X, Zero, Morrigan, Felicia, Pyron, Strider Hiryu, Frank West, Nathan Spencer, Leon S. Kennedy, Ada Wong
MARVEL: Captain Marvel, Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, War Machine, Winter Soldier, Black Panther, Vision, Spider-Man, Venom, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, Star-Lord, Rocket Raccoon w/ Groot, Thanos
Unlockable: Ultron and Sigma
DLC: Asura, Gene, Jin Saotome, Amaterasu, Vergil (DMC4), Phoenix Wright, Akuma, Mike Haggar, Chris Redfield, Albert Wesker, Wolverine, Cyclops, Deadpool, Carnage, Wasp, Dr. Doom, Daredevil, The Punisher, Iron Fist, Luke Cage
I still don’t get that reasoning. The hunters have lots of weapons that’s all look very distinct and have very distinct moves, plus a plethora of silly shit like kicking cats, cooking meat, shadowboxing gestures, running away animations etc. The supers can simple BE monster summons. I already said that being able to choose a male/female hunter using the rathalos/rathisn G armor would probably be ideal as they’re the flagship monsters. A hunter can only be uninteresting if it’s designed by somehow who has never played the games.
Let’s see, some generic nameless dude with weapons in a game that’s already full of random dudes with weapons, or a huge, bizarre beastie with elemental powers? Which is more unique?
I’m going with the beastie, every time. This thing is massive, powerful, badass and unique looking. The hunter is so generic that he doesn’t even have a name. You have no argument here.
Same could be said for villager in smash but no one complained about that? The rathalos armor is iconic, the weapon moves are varied and look cool, there’s a buttload of alt color options, etc. At least the way you talk about MH makes me think you’ve never played them tbh. If they went the monster route they’d have to be giant characters. How did that pan out for TvC? Hell, have a basic face/gender editor for the hunter. It wouldn’t even be necessary if they had full armor on.
Either way, you can’t say I have no argument when your own arguments are loosely related opinions based on personal taste.
I am one of the people who complained about Villager. I hate Villager and think he should’ve been replaced by an actual character in the series with his same moves, like Tom Nook or Isabelle. I absolutely agree that the monster would be giant, and that’s the whole point. We need more giants, more strange characters, more variation. They can’t all be humanoids in the 5-6 foot range. We need more Hauzers and Juggernauts and Nemesises.
Why not a generic nameless dude wearing armor and weapons made from elemental bizarre beasts?
Monsters have a cool design, but I feel they would be too limited moveset wise.
The only generic dude with weapons I can think about is Chris, and he switches between a gun, smaller gun, ang bigger gun. With a Hunter we could have double swords, sword and shield, long sword, great sword, hammer, hunting horn, lance, gun lance, bow, crossbow, switch axe and that bug rod. They can go crazy on his moveset.
Design wise, they could do a different armor and gender for every color. Color 1 would be male Rathalos armor and color 2 would be female Kirin armor.
That’s the kind of game they can shine. You can show everything they can do without being held back about canon or whatever. But honestly, I don’t see a Hunter making it because back in MVC3 days, the MH team didn’t want a face to represent the franchise, so the only option capcom have is making different armors, gender and skin color, and that is too much work for them to bother. But his moveset has more potential than anything, and it would be fun as hell summoning monsters and using different weapons, you can’t deny that.
