- If done right, yes.
- No, just because they wouldn’t be building the game up from scratch along with the netcode, which GGPO would require in these cases.
- Idk, but it’s too late now.
Look on the bright side, at least they didn’t talk shit on other companies about their netcode unlike someone else.
I’d rather a company be soft-spoken on the subject to basically let us assume the worst, than a company talk shit on others and end up with their foot in their mouth.
Of course, I don’t care what they do about talking about it if they make the netcode good.
Holy mother of wow, who what where when and why.
my main problem is the time it takes, the fucking UI is shit.
wait for PP to appear, wait for it to save profile, wait for it to decide to find a match, wait for more updating and fucking bubbles.
Spectator mode would help but I’m pretty sure the main thing holding MvC3 back is the completely broken matchmaking. People want to be able to power up the game and reliably jump into match where they can be at least somewhat certain it will be with somone appropriately ranked for their level and a good connection.
You can’t get either of those things right now, hell you couldn’t even connect to anyone without going through three extra load screens and turning on fight request for weeks after launch. That kind of shit is unacceptable. If you can’t even reliably insure that you’re playing someone with a good connection to you it doesn’t matter how good or bad the netcode is.
MvC3’s online mode irritates me. The whole thing just feels unpolished.
I learned how to be patient the hard way after customizing any of the search settings for the optimal opponent, and the distinct lack of spectator mode for lobbies means that I now avoid them completely. To be honest, I’m very disappointed in the overall online experience, especially considering the fact that 99% of gamers purchased MvC3 solely for multiplayer.
lol, its a fighting game. Nuff said
What does this even mean, “lolwtfbbq its a fighting game, nuff said” seriously why even post when all you can do post such inane bollocks?
MVC3 netcode is a fucking joke, the search function is a joke, the input lag is a fucking joke. tHE game (in todays age of gaming) is bad in terms of online. End of story, it doesn’t matter what genre it is, wther ti’s fighting, racing, sexemup or beatem up, the game is bad and it has bad netcode. And Capcom IS a failure and deserve to hear all these complaints so they knows what’s up, Yeah that’s right Capcom you failed. Your online was crap for MCV3, just like the original SF4, just like RE5 and just like most of your games, step it up.
well, there is always the arcade or ssf4 ae online.
SSF4AE comment aside (it’s obviously no where close to being a substitute for MvC3), the sad fact is that no, there isn’t always the arcade. Of the three arcades that are within a two hours’ drive from my location, *none *of them have fighting games of any sort. None. Not even a damn Primal Rage or Fighter’s History or some other comically bad fighter.
I just really wish this game had Spectator mode. It takes forever to find a ranked match or player match for me, even in training mode, but theres tons of lobbies. No spectator mode is balls.
Also, another problem: I’m Canadian, and if I put region to same, all I get are canadian players, even though I would have a good connection with east-coast Americans since im in Ontario. Yet if I put Region to “Any” it’s a total gamble whether I get an american with a good connection, or a japanese person with insane lag. So lame…
If you honestly think how good your game connection is has anything to do with XBL you have the same understanding of how the internet works as a 5 year old. Netcode is pretty much the exact same with both consoles, only idiots think they handle “the internet” differently. Everything comes down to both players’ connections.
Does anyone knows which ports you need to forward in the PS3 version?
All I want to say is - if you’re not already blocking during the startup frames of Akuma’s beam hyper online and he’s x-factored, you’re fucked.
If anyone cares about the netcode for this game improving, drop a line of support to get the topic addressed:

I am still not having HUGE issues with the netcode guys. I am in agreement that it creates an execution barrier that keeps you from doing the best combos with certain characters but as far as doing most advance BnBs and having no lag I am pretty satisfied. Viscant and Atashiwa are too apparently
My problem is having to search 5 times to get a match, not being able to customize a search, and getting booted to the root menu.
And no spectator mode.
I can deal with the lag.
Functionality is definitely a problem in MvC3. I don’t have to search a lot to find a match in Player Matches though. In Ranked it can take up to 3-4 minutes usually.
Hello. Dropping by.
Post 100.

Q: What do fans need to do to ensure that GGPO is incorporated into future Capcom games? In particular, fighting games?
Seth: I’ve been pushing that ever since I came to Capcom 4 years ago and it took until 3SOE to actually get implemented into a fighting game. One of the problems is that with 3D game like SFxT, we are basically using all of the PS3′s processing power. And although it’s very difficult to incorporate a rollback function I don’t believe it’s impossible. If fans really want something like this implemented then the best advice I can give is to tell other people at Capcom. Internally I suspect they just think I’m crazy, and they’re tired of hearing me go on about it, so if it’s important to you, let everyone else know."
No one uses that excuse ever again.
anyone who thinks any new capcom fighter is ever going to have good netcode is insane
Is it really so much different from SF4, Tekken etc though? lol
Whenever I fight someone from US in any game (EU) here its equally terrible. I do gotta say I played with some people from my country and it was laggier than expected, but still. And since the game is easy and IMO not that execution heavy to be effective it doesnt matter for me. (In ssf4 AE it blowsss to lag lol)
