MvC 3 Netcode

Mexican internets runs on frijioles. :v

I’ve played a few people in my town online and get lag but play someone from out of state and have a decent connection. This game is weird.

Mexican Internet is mainly provided by Telmex which is Carlos Slim’s monopoly (dude who was the richet man in the world a while ago)
Their internet connections are bottlenecked, so it doesn’t matter if they have the best connection, it will still be slowed down somehow. It’s always gonna be a gamble whenever you play them.

As long as you don’t play Mexicans or someone else that has $20 internet, MvC3 online should be very “playable”. I don’t have any problems hitting my BnB combos online. It’s not perfect, but those expecting the same experience as offline play are being unrealistic. 90% of my games have much less input delay than the four green bar simulator in practice mode.

MK9 on the other hand, is what I consider unacceptable netcode and completely unplayable online… MvC3’s netcode is nowhere near as bad as MK9. Those that are saying they get the same experience on MvC3 as Mk9 should look to upgrade their internet, or check their connection settings because that’s not normal.

someone was was going to do some mean hd fapping at 500 gigs a piece

I don’t understand how they didn’t implement lobbies that shows the players’ pings, pretty arrogant of the developers if you ask me.

This statement isn’t just restricted to this game… many other games do this as well - because apparently console gamers don’t understand ping / it’s easier to hide a bad connection based on an arbitrary scale.

What happened to this game? I left for like a month and nobody is playing it online. I have to play the same 5 dudes in the last 2 days and I have played like 30 matches. They all have Dante and spam/runaway beam characters…well…I guess that didnt change. Anyways, I thought this game was hella popular, I enjoy watching it on the streams, and when I play SSFIV online just a few weeks ago, there were way more people playing it. Is it because of AE? Or is it just me?

Either way, here is hoping to seeing you fine folk online in some sort of fighting game lol.

How is the ps3 netcode compared to the 360s? I’m heavily considering buying a 360 solely because I hear the competition is better and you experience less lag, is this true?

EPIC POST

Yes, Ps3 has worse netcode then the Xbox 360, you get what you pay for

I’m pretty sure MVC3 on the 360 and ps3 use the same netcode, which is based off p2p. It’s not going to make any difference what console it’s on. If you join a bad peer and they’re hosting, but they don’t have good upload ability you will get input lag, end of story. There’s nothing Microsoft’s Xbox Live can do to save you from p2p netcode which does not use “rollback” features.

I personally think it’s no different also. If someone’s connection is getting shared, for example, expect heavy lag to insue. This game is far from having any sort of GGPO standard netcode.

My god, I have played like 60 matches online in the last 5 days, there is nobody online. 60 games, 9 different opponents who all picked relatively similar teams. Why doesn’t anyone play this at all? This game was supposed to be so hype and shit, but its a ghost town. I guess most people just watch the streams instead of playing the game itself or something. Oh well, who cares, AE is out in less than 48 hours.

This is what happens when the netcode is poor as it is and the lack of spectator mode.
Hope Capcom sees the results and improves future releases accordingly.

Spectator Mode seems to be the big reason. MK9’s netcode is even shittier, but people play that to death online without caring.

Also, AE coming out soon probably has something to do with it.

It’s as if Capcom made MvC3 sub-par on purpose so people would drop it and then get AE.
Making a ‘Super’ MvC3 with all the features improved upon an easy way to earn some Bison dollars.

Here in Indiana I seem to get better, or as good, connections with ppl in Mexico and Canada as opposed to ppl on either coast

few questions

  1. Would GGPO fix online in this game?
  2. Seeing how SF3 will be running GGPO, Is it technologically possible for capcom to make the next MvC3 run GGPO?
  3. If so, why didn’t they use GGPO in the first place?

Capcom (I don’t remember if it was Ono or Seth or Sven or someone else) has claimed that GGPO wouldn’t work for games using 3D models. I don’t buy it, but that’s their excuse.

no, its just more scrubs play MK so thats why you see more people online. If mvc3 had GGPO net code but no spectator mode, there would be LOTS of people playing.

capcoms official answer about this subject is just retarded. Their answer is that the games need to be designed around GGPO from the start, they can’t be implemented down the road. Basically, they just don’t give a shit. If they actually gave a shit, why not implement them during the developmental process? why keep players in the dark about the net code until the release? Since the late 90’s, most developers have used the best net code for competitive games. Competitive games need competition and you can’t get that with shit connections. The better the connection is for competition, the more likely people are going to play longer. Its really simple but for w\e reason Capcom fails to realize it… There is a reason games like the FPS market, which tops a billion dollars a year easy, is so big. Its because a part of their scene can be accessed through the internet COMPETITIVELY.

From what I’ve heard about Capcom, there is just a lot of EGO there for some odd reason. I don’t know how you can have such a big ego when 99% of the fighting games they have ever released have been programmed so improperly that they’re always broken\glitchy.

and for the record, GGPO has already been used in more than one 3d fighter so that excuse is pretty trash. Why would you guys listen to capcom about how they do things when its their job to take money out of your hand? i’d tell you guys your shit don’t stink if you gave me 50$ to tell you that, cmon…
