They need to seperate the mexicans from other online players. I swear, they’re laggy as shit and all play Zero. Fucking annoying.

Not at all. Since PSN was restored, the input delay is significantly worse. Now it’s a combination of shitty servers and piss poor netcodes. Either way, we’re in a lose-lose situation. It will not get better. The more people online, the more lag.
I thought for a while that my internet connection was making playing online impossible. SF4 and MvC3 both constantly disconnect me, figured it had to be my connection. Until today when I played 4 hours of MK9 without a disconnect, then took a break to play MvC3 and was disconnected 6 times over a 1 hour period. Coincidence, or are Capcom netcodes really that bad?
Playing Dante/Zero/Doom and actually trying to play them properly with online input delay makes me want to shoot myself.
Also, unrelated but fuck online Wolverine. Spam cr.L and Dive Kicks until one lands and you get 400 frames to confirm into full combo (not like you can punish anything online anyway), and now everyone plays the fucker since a few pros started touting him as the best character.
How was it clearly my fault from the beginning? If it was clearly my fault then how come a week of tech support from Sony and 2kgames, and a person who worked for my cable company, could not help me? If it was CLEARLY my fault they would have found the issue.
How can you act like a default setting on the router is clearly MY fault? Nothing on the internet mentioned having issues for the setting that I had issues with. If it was such a clear issue, then considering its a DEFAULT on linksys routers, then thousands of other people would have been having the same exact issue. You know how many people dont even do anything to set up their PS3 connections? I did everything mentioned on ANY tech support or setup guides.
If you claim that me having problems with a setting that nobody else on the internet posted about, months after GTA4 was released, is not normal, then its obvious you are just trying to troll me. I’m here trying to help the guy and you decide to troll me? How lame.
I’ve been playing fighting games since Street Fighter 2 was first released when I was 10 years old, I’m in no way new.
Mildly noticeable is unavoidable in ANY GAME played on the internet. Even if you live down the block from someone and have 20 ping you STILL are going to notice it because in games like this a single frame can make the difference.
Hence, complaining about it it being “unacceptable” and “untolerable” is nothing but more trolling. If your claims were true then they shouldnt even bother making any fighting game have online support. Because (insert your choice of best online fighting game here) is going to have mildly noticeable lag no matter what you do.
Exactly, well said.
If those millisecond really do matter u should just play locally.
^^^ exactly, which is why i dont fucking touch online.its horrible and complaining about it is a waste of time till capcom gets off there asses and actually does something about it.
that having been said im hyped about skullgirls simply cause of new game+rollback/ggpo code.
even if the game is kind of shitty i will play it into the GROUND. just because of the code.

not everyone has a fighting game community in their back yard… Here’s to hoping capcom fired whoever did the MvC3 netcode and fixes it when the new mvc3 comes out
Not usually called out for trolling, but no I wasn’t trying nor intending to.
-
if any fix is as simple as reconfiguring your modem/router, we’d be on that and there’d be no complaints.
-
If anyone takes the game competitively as such, would it not be logical to look into our own setups and test it ideally to make sure that things are the best they can be? I might have lower expectations of people & technology, maybe. This should be the absolute first thing anyone does to make sure they’re getting things ideal. Not saying it’s a bad suggestion and wouldn’t improve things a bit if the router was terrible.
-
Playing fighters since SF2 was released at an age of 10: the important part is when did you start playing competitively? Almost everyone played (insert classic game here) when it was released. Folks think this is a big thing apparently?
-
I’m settling for nothing short of GGPO performance netcode. Sure it’s not 100% offline, but it’s damn near 99% if you’re playing someone within a reasonable distance.
-
Yes, local play is main because I have a problem with those milliseconds. To play online for fun is fine too. It’s just annoying because you’re getting a sub-par experience.
Don’t get me wrong - I’m not saying modem config is going to make the game perfect for everyone. But the person I responded to was clearly having issues that are beyond normal. Being “completely unplayable” is not normal. If he can do a combo 3x in a row, 10 times repeately without issues but cant complete it at all in 10 attempts online, that’s not normal. If he has no option but zoning, that’s not normal. If you do 6 different matches in a row with 5 bars but “feel like your playing in jello”, that’s not normal.
That’s why I suggested what I did - If things are that bad for him, then that guy needed some help, so I tried helping him.
Again, I’m not saying things should be perfect. But that person is having problems above and beyond what it should be. Same as the people who say Zero is unplayable online (considering how powerful his mix-up game is when u throw in a little latency).
lol, actually I played competitively when I was that young too. A couple weeks after Champion Edition came out I came 2nd place in a strange Blanka vs Blanka final, where it ended with both of us rolling at each other with a sliver of life lef t and he made contact first and won. Guy was like 9-10 years older than me though. I was fairly competitive for a few years (but most tournaments were smaller then). I kind of got out of the fighting game scene after Alpha 2 or 3. Played a little bit of Xmen vs SF at the arcade (that’s around when the arcades died where I lived in NY at the time), but that’s when all my friends quit fighting games and I had no competition anymore, so I stopped playing them seriously until they went online. Which, sadly, im stuck with most the time since I only have 1 friend who is can play fighting games at a high level, and I dont see him much.
Again, I’m not saying online play is perfect, but it should definitely be acceptable, and a far better experience than Moss_Ur_Mom was having. I’m stuck with Online mode enough that if it wasnt acceptable, I wouldnt be playing this game at all. I would much rather play MvC3 online against a mixup char (or Wolverine since he has a lot of complaints) in its current state, than Tekken or SC4 vs a random button masher that obviously dont know how to play but is literally impossible to beat because that little bit of latency makes it impossible to time your parry and that’s the only way to survive certain character match-ups w/ the combo frame advantage in those games.
Puts a big smile on my face to see someone from Cali who realizes this. Over the last 3 years I’ve been to about 40 tournaments for various games, the average attendance for these tourneys in the scene I play with is barely 25. The kicker though is that I have never driven less than 3 hours for these tourneys, except for one and that only happened because one of the Waterloo/Toronto guys was nice enough to host something in London, and that was still 1.5 hours away.
Know how many people I have to play MvC3 with in my hometown?
0.
Online is fucking important, even if it is a cesspool of brain poison.
edit: now that I think about it it’s probably been a lot more than 40 tournaments. I was actively playing Brawl (lol I know) for a while and was easily among the top 10 most active players in the Ontario tourney scene, but I only ever actually broke a top 10 placing twice because getting any decent practice was impossible.
This is my 3rd post about mexicans, why they get SO MUCH LAG… with people from america I don’t have any problem, canada neither, EVEN JAPANESE!.. But with mexicans… God, it’s horrible, you got 1/2 second delay, lag spikes, freezes… And they do stuff like nothing and say that it’s not their fault… What?..
U SOOO MAD!!
LOL…
TURN THE DAMN FILTER ON!!!
idiot…
Im turning the god damn filter on and I still got mexicans!.. I put on language “english”, rank limit “same”, region “anywhere”… And I still got mexicans. And some tell that they put their console to English just to get some players… -.-
There’s your problem.
Re-posting this because I’m THAT pissed off with these people. If I put region same I have to wait 10 minutes and if I put english I get a fucking Mexican.
No offence to Mexicans but you guys are fuckin’ up my online enjoyment. Gonna have to go into player matches from now on.
It’s random for me. Sometimes connection is pretty good and there isn’t much lag, but yes there are those games that do suck and make me move like a robot.
If I put “Same” I will get a mexican, plain and simple… with “anywhere” I can get someone from anywhere, 1 of 10 its a f)#$$#($ mexican…
Started playing wired… now I can find a game!
Besides that it’s the same stuff. Playable but there’s room for improvement.
I get fairly good connections with mexicans in D.F. or Monterey, but for some odd reason all other connections are usually really lag
I dont know why
