I’m going to be much smarter about it next time. I’ll just download the game off the internet and then wait for the reviews about the net code. If its ass, I’ll just keep my illegal copy. Love to see capcom stop me lol
not everyone who plays the game posts on shoryuken
I’m going the easy way. I’m just never buying another Capcom FG ever again. They’re never going to fix the netcode so why should I continue to buy their products? I’m too lazy for pirating so…meh.
I think the updating/saving is the most annoying part. It’s really hard to justify playing ranked matches when it takes a good chunk of time to get one game in, when you can continuously rematch in the player matches. The lobby system not allowing you to rematch is a bit time consuming too. Overall though, I’ve been having much better connections the last few weeks than I was having close to launch.
the menu system is retarded. why does it take so long to go in and out of matches with this “updating” data crap?
i returned the game and got my money back. not wasting $60 on dis trash…
oh well have fun with your marvel vs capcom payment plan 3. im done with that shit. ive also heard that ssf4 AE will be on another disc instead of dlc? LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL crapcom you’ve done it again! XD
ill just stick with ssfiv for the time being. hell if AE is another retail game, i’ll just stop playing and play something else.
The more I play this game and spend time in training mode, the more I realize how much lag this game has online compared to ssf4… Not to mention the fact that you can’t create a match or see your opponents connection strength before you chose to play him/her.
sf4 and mvc3 are the exact same net code. The mvc3 net code was built by the same team that did the sf4 one. If anything, mvc3 is a tweaked version of the sf4 net code but the sf4 net code is so bad that tweaking it isn’t really going to do much to it.
Its just more noticeable since sf4 is so slow compared to mvc3. The same problems I have with sf4 online, I have with mvc3 online. Input delay out the asssssssss
Except Soulcalibur IV was 2008, Tekken 6 was 2009, and MvC3 in 2011 should have made progress on SSFIV’s 2010, but took a step backwards. Yesterday’s crap cannot be compared to today’s crap. As said earlier in this thread.
I don’t play online anymore because of the horrendous input lag. A few matches I had were so bad it was literally registering my blocks at least a second or more later, leading to my maddening destruction. I don’t mind losing (I mean, I prefer NOT to lose of course), but if I lose because I was beaten, fine. But to lose to lag INFURIATES me to the nth degree. I’ve had ONE day (2 hours exactly) of lag-free play and that was the first day of the Sentinel nerf patch. Before and after that though? Molasses. It sucks because I WANT to play people online and expose myself to as many different tactics to learn from as possible but no, ain’t happening. I have no problems with any of the online menus or matchmaking, just fix the damn netcode Capcom!!!
I can’t seem to find the article but once mvc3 dropped, another article talks about how they hired the sf4 team to build the mvc3 net code. Does anyone know the article I’m talking about?
The only reason more people don’t bitch about the sf4 net code is because its a pretty slow game. It can get away with it much better but I can’t play sf4 online to save my life. All of my offline timing doesn’t work online what so ever.
I don’t remember reading the article you’re mentioning bro. Try finding it, because I really don’t remember that, but that might just be my shit memory screwing me.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they both used the same netcode but when you can’t even reliably choose the person with the “lowest” ping (ie: green bars) like you could in SSF4, it leads to people thinking the netcode itself is to blame, when it’s only part of the problem.
that isn’t the article. The one I’m looking for was released a little bit after mvc3 dropped. I don’t think anyone really caught it because everyone was too busy playing the game.
***That in and of itself is a little vague, but he goes on to imply that the netcode used in Marvel vs Capcom 3 is not the same as Street Fighter IV’s. Here’s what he had to say about that:
“Because I’m not on the Super Street Fighter IV team I don’t know exactly what their netcode is like, but I know we have a lot more information, or we have more data transfer due to more characters and more effects. And actual game flow is a lot faster than in Super Street Fighter IV.”***

* Seth Killian: The MVC3 netcode was done by the same engineers that did Super SFIV. Of course I haven?t been able to play it ?in the wild? yet while everyone else is online too, but the tests have all been solid, and there are some nice added touches like better algorithms to determine other players? true connection quality and avoid slow connections, and of course ?rage-quitter hell.?*
thats the reason you never trust cRapcom. Its only after the game drops do they admit the sf4 team built the net code but you didn’t even have to have a confirmation about it. It plays the exact fucking same online. Its even more apparent that they don’t care about lying to customers.
look @ seth’s fucking garbage. Solid my ass, this shit is atrocious @ best. I love how their story changes on the fly, got to love that used car sales man approach. What even dumber is that nitsuma is claiming he wasn’t on the sf4 team so he couldn’t tell what the net code was like? are you fucking kidding me? as a company you’re working together on a project and you can’t check what your team members are doing or even if they’re doing it properly?
small companies do a better job of creating a game than capcom. Skullgirls is more in tune internally than capcom has even been apparently.
I’ve really been struggling with online lately. Either I can go to playermatch and play a match entirely ruined by lag (almost 100% of the time I get unplayable lag), or sit down and try to join a ranked match for 45 minutes with each attempt ending in “failed to join game session”. I love this game, it’s too much fun, but man the online is just really upsetting me, as I have no one I can play offline with so I’m just stuck in training mode :(.
I have played over 200 online matches. Do you know how many I’ve played that were lagless?
1
Do you know how many I’ve played where the lag wasn’t crucial?
None.
I have no control with the lag the way it is. I’m too late with every input and end up mashing to do any simple ass combo or string. Everytihng is too late. It’s fucking stupid. Why even try to be precise? Why even fucking bother?
This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:
I think that online just isn’t worth it. I have 0 problems with SFIV. If the bars are full, there isn’t any lag at all 99% of the time. If the connection looks worse than it is worse. The fact that I can create a lobby and not know what my opponents connection is, is BEYOND FUCKING STUPID.
I really love this game. And I love playing it with somebody next to me offline. Without lag, it’s so fucking fun. This lag is shit. And the online options are even worse.

if you scroll up and read my post, you can read the rest of the article. To say that mvc3 online is ass but sf4 is good isn’t very accurate, they’re the same net code. Its just that mvc3 is faster than sf4 so its more obvious but the same problems are still there. Both games heavily use an input delay function and that makes timing anything awful. They even react the same when there is a lag spike. The reason the games are so smooth online is because of that input delay function. It allows the game to be smoother to fool scrubs into thinking they received a quality product.
Its impossible to say that sf4 online is good and mvc3 is garbage is pure ignorance when they’re the exact same net code. The problems I had with sf4 online are the exact problems I have with mvc3 online.
