MvC 3 Netcode

SSF4’s matchmaking is so infinitely better than this game, and made for a much more enjoyable experience. So what if people could abuse it for boosting? The majority of players did not use it for boosting and that’s what should matter. It allowed relatively easy runbacks, and knowing not to re-play against someone too scrubby/a lot better than you randomly. Game can quickly become very unfun when constantly rematched against people you don’t want to play against. Whether it be because the person mashes midscreen shoryu’s or you’re just sick of dark phoenix. Most importantly it allows for relatively lag free matches compared to what we get in MvC3, because you quickly learned who not to connect to or who to kick. I’ve never raged quit a match in SF4, but have left multiple matches in MvC3 in the first 10 seconds because the game feels like I’m playing in mud.

I hope the online play is overhauled in an expansion or a new release a year from now, because I really enjoy the game a ton, and would pay for such an update.

The online for MvC3 has to be one of the worst experiences I have had playing any game online. The online seems very rushed like they just slapped it on last minute and didn’t really care about it, and is WAY worse then street fighter. Why can’t you see the connection before the match starts? Why in lobbies do you have to sit and watch nothing, this pretty much makes lobbies pointless. This game offers the bare minimum in content, and what it does offer doesn’t work very well. Offline is fun with friends / family. But you can pretty much just forget about playing this online.

there will never be a new capcom fighting game with good netcode and there will never be an article about it on the front page of shoryuken.com thanks for listening

I don’t know why we can’t get a front page article about this bullshit capcom keeps giving us. Sure, I love capcom as much as the next guy but using a 15+year old net code style is just fucking absurd. Kind of crappy to see stuff like “why fighting games don’t have a story line” are on the front page and net code topics go ignored. WTF is up with that? is that what the community is concerned about? fucking story lines?

I didn’t buy ssf4 because the net code was bad and I won’t be buying ssf4AE for the same reason. Can’t capcom see that they’re losing sales over this shit and preventing the game from growing? I’m probably not even going to buy mvc3.2. Just going to dl-ed it off the internet and play for free.

so yea, until capcom starts making games with better online components, I’m not paying for a fucking thing and I will be part of the pirating problem. Tired of this shady business crap capcom is so fond of.

because srk is about as close as you can get to being an official fansite without it being explicitly stated

So optimistic, I applaud you.

Reads MrWizardz original intentions for the website

Looks at general front page

Wtf is up with that? And why the hell on the GGPO SkullGirls article am I seeing the same idiots who actually defend Capcom’s shitty netcode and actually thinking that they are smart.

The way I an reading those posts, it’s no wonder the netcodes here are still shitty. There are people who read an article and think that they know all about netcodes and why they are always shitty. And they always end with "It’s impossible. People actually WANT it to be that way.

well at least keits kind of bashed capcom but that wasn’t quite the bashing I wanted.

I want the equivalent of what arcadia magazine did against neo geo. Thats the level of bashing we need.

U mad as hell and are not gonna take it anymore?

edit: One thing I don’t get why some people think we’re being entitled little pricks for hating on this scheming Capcom does. The simple fact is, if you don’t want games to be the best quality they can be from the start, then Capcom has no reason to give you quality games from the start.

Those are the same fans who posted pre release but don’t post any more due to the fact that they were basically blind Capcom worshipers defending Capcom’s shit every step of the way.

Can Capcom once, just ONCE, actually CARE about online? Please?

HA HA go play Tekken 6 online, MvC3 and SSF are leaps and bounds better

Just because it’s slightly better than worse shit…doesn’t make it not shit.

I believe that the avgn 1 said " the shit I took yesterday is better than the shit I took today". Just because you compare 2 pieces of shit doesn’t make the other one any less a piece of shit. Stop sayong shit like this. Its people like you that that try and jusyify a peice of shit. Its fucking retarded

all this thread means is that capcom really doesn’t give a fuck about us. lets have shitty internet play in a world where arcades are barely hanging on. capcom caring about the community yada yada bullshit i’m so tired of all the garbage and lies they feed us. im disappointed that i can’t ever believe anything seth killian says anymore. if you’re reading this capcom, you’re probably thinking “look at these sorry fucks assuming they’re entitled to anything.” if any of us pay 60 dollars of our hard earned money we better be entitled to a quality product, not some unfinished, half assed mess with online so laggy it feels like each match has ammy’s time super activated permanently. capcom will eventually fuck themselves over once people lose interest so keep ignoring us capcom

I’m amazed at how bad the menu navigation and match making really is !!! Also its sad that they are taking steps backwards because a few people used stat whore tactics to boost points. Why does it make sense to Capcom to limit the hosts ability to kick griefers out of a lobby that they created? The sodium levels associated with MVC3 are already off the charts but having to fodder through 9 laggy matches to find one decent match just adds to the frustration.

The netcode is not bad but finding folks with a tolerable latency threshold level is impossible with the lack of proper information and ability to control your own lobby etc…

For SOME REASON, this right here reminds me of how that one studio’s mindset when they made the most EPIC lulzworthy game in existence.

I think it was called Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing

the netcode is bad

I have to agree… Sometimes I got bad connections or bad matchmaking… Leaving that to an error message.

You got it wrong. You decide how to spend your hard earned money. Not Capcom. If Capcom’s little scheme sways you into buying shit, then its your fault and Capcom is going to continue making shit because people are always going to buy it. This game was made for to milk your hard earned money because they knew both you, I, and the everybody else here complaining would buy the game.

If the world worked the way you think it works, Metal Gear Solid 4 would be 200$, call of duty would be 30$ and china would be pumping out some of the best products.

On a bright note, can’t wait till Capcom fucks over CvsSNK 3, and Darkstalkers.

So is the netcode really that bad? It always has been in my experience, but I haven’t been able to shake the feeling of “if the netcode is truly as awful is it seems to be, why aren’t there 20x more replies in this thread?”

It doesn’t make sense that it would be my internet; not only is it really good, but even if it was bandwidth sensitive the problem is present regardless of whether or not there’s any other activity on the network. And it’s not even as if it’s just lag spikes (although they do happen, often), it’s just ASTONISHINGLY bad constant input lag. So is this really what it’s like for everyone? Neither possibility makes sense to me; I don’t see how it could possibly have to do with my internet, yet I don’t see how it could possibly be this bad without WAY more complaint.
