My counter to your anecdote is that a large amount of consoles still aren’t connected to the internet.
never played ranked but people in player match are a lot better than those in lobbies, at least.
now that i’ve played the game online more extensively, the experience seems even more poorly designed. search parameters for canadians combined with the fact that player match gives no information about your opponent and it sets you up with the same opponent repeatedly, or nobody.
sure hope they don’t botch 3S, especially with “online edition” in the title.
That’s your first mistake. You should come with the expectation that they WILL screw it up. Guarantee they were probably stupid enough to rebalance it, which will send 3S lovers into the ultimate rage, along with the hardcore MvC2 lovers.
3s needs a rebalance anyways.
The Netpaly seems to get worse every day. Although it was hard to find matches the first week I had no lag now the last 2 weeks easily 80% of my matches have bad lag including playing people who live in my city. Im trying to lern a new Char Wesker but not even quad tapping can help land his follow up teleports in lag.
Well as a 3s tourney player from the arcade era I hope they rebalanced theres toons of data, like seriously Chun has 7-3 and 8-2 match ups against the entire mid tier of 3s.
Uh, I get lag spikes. They look like my console is about to RROD because the whole game freezes up completely.
It’s not that I wouldn’t MIND 3S getting rebalanced…I just don’t trust Capcom as far as I can throw them to rebalance it properly.
Also, ColdBrand, check your other games. If those are seizing up as well, you might want to start planning a funeral.

Rebalancing 3S would cause more problems than fixing it. Whenever they try to fix something something else always gets screwed up. Top players just learned to deal with the bad matches and used the tools they had to fight any way. The game system allowed you to play pretty flexibly even in bad matchups and even when you fight Chun Li there’s basically a basic strategy of “beat her the first round before she gets 2 meters” strategy that makes her generally easier to fight. Chun Li is rather easy to fight even when I use Ibuki who goes 3-7 against her until she gets a full 2 meters. Then it’s a lot harder. Otherwise until that happens the matchup is easier than most of the 4-6’s in SFIV.
But people defending this game to the death is front page worthy. I love SRK!
This netcode is ass
If you can afford it, upgrade your internet to a “business Class” internet. I have no problem playing online lag free while streaming vids from xhamster 
i think the netcode is ok. but the game itself moves so quick i think everyone’s modern broadband connection can not keep up with it. i play the game offline sometimes and see that the game is VERY quick. so i wondered if it was such a good idea to make the game that fast. i was questioning the netcode when the game was released. maybe in the next patch they will make the search parameters more strict so that it can ensure you get the best connection possible.
I dont see the problem as being the netcode but the matchmaking. Why didnt they implement the SSFIV matchmaking?
If you can see where the other players are from and what your connection to them is, you could reduce the amount of laggy matches you have.
Im playing from Melbourne, and when i set the region to same i get people from South Korea and other parts of north east Asia.

The netcode IS shit. Go play some games on GGPO then come back and say the same thing.
Second that, but that’s because I think differences in skill are far more obvious in 3s. To stay on topic though, the matchingmaking system is an atrocity, and we all know why. They kept out features we expected and in all likelihood we’re not gonna get it back till super marvel comes out a year later for $40. I know we’re all gonna pay for it anyways because we still like the game as a whole, but what we should do is make a big fucking stink about it to at least send a message.
Voting with our wallets will not force companies to make the best games possible. It will only force them to generate hype and choose the correct demographics. The game only has to be passable, nothing else.
