MvC 3 Netcode

Hey, at least for PSN users, it’s free. Those 360 owners gotta pay for there online, and it still sucks. Now that’s bad…

im europe based, and i have ZERO lag (Germany)
even vs UK people - 0 lag, in ssf4 it keeps laggin vs UK people
last time i joined a lobby with US guys and it did not lag, maybe i was lucky to hit an eastcoast player, but it was fine.
i got out of my 500 matches, 5 matches that i remeber lagging like fuck and i blocked those guys. and those were against japanese, why the fuck do i even get japanese people when i put SAME REGION?

console is PS3
my internet:
100mbit downstream
2,5mb upstream

The actual online service for the 360 and PS3’s are indicative of their prices. I hate Microsoft as much as the next person, but there’s a reason people actually pay for XBL, and don’t just switch to the free online service of the PS3.

but making the online more like SSFIV wouldnt even take extra effort. they already have lobbies in the game. why not do what the guy you quoted said and make ranked matches 2 person lobbies where you can see the lag indicator before joining.

I guess now people can’t boost like how they did on ssf4.

Tell us how you really feel, Shoultzula. .

Yeah, the game’s pretty bad online right now. I haven’t touched online mode since getting that five-win streak in ranked matches, which seemed too easy to get because I was mostly paired up with people playing this like it’s Street Fighter IV. That’s assuming I could get a connection at all…not to say I don’t like the game itself, though, in fact this is a lot more fun than SF4 has ever been so far.

Just that it’s almost pointless to use longer BnBs when the inputs will just drop anyway, might as well just spam - which is what you don’t want to see new(er) players develop a mentality of. In GGPO Vsav, it’s actually practical to use links, BnBs, target combos, all that intermediate to advanced stuff that’s necessary to develop a good play style. Even against players in other continents. And while the GGPO client for computer isn’t without its flaws at all, the netcode itself is miles ahead of that of SFIV’s and now…MvC3’s. I don’t get it. Does Capcom feel that using netcode that wasn’t made in-house is lazy?

Sorry if this sounds like some more inane 2009 rambling…but I did want to weigh in on the issue.

lol, how obvious is that you dont know what are you talking about

keep being dellusional

Even the slightest effort…would take effort. Any company will take shortcuts if they get the same sales (well…if said sales are good).

hey gorath it might have been me lol. I know i know i shouldn’t be playing wireless but I recently moved and I have no choice at the moment. It sucks…nice phoenix btw

Really quite a shame about this game online. So far none of the matches I’ve played that had 5 green bars were even close to being similar to offline. MvC2 barely skipped at all when you had a good connection with people and had little to no noticeable input delay.

By the way, how do you send one of those quick messages in the lobbies? The ones like “C’mon!” and “Good games!”

fuck this game online component. shit is definitely one of the worst experiences i ever had with a fighter next to KOF XII. like man, how did capcom drop the ball so hard. and lord HDL, i believe the trigger buttons do that for you.

Online Connectivity during matches

So im aware of matchmaking issues and that capcom is in the works on fixing it, however im having some problems when i do get into a match.

On a regular basis i have at least 1-2 second input delay, weather i host or join a game. In lobbies i choose the rooms with full green bars and still…

Is this normal? ive tried everything and cant fix it and i do not have this issue with SSF4, never have.

Im on psn, i run a wired connection, i have a router yet the ps3 is currently on nat type 2, which is the correct one when going through a router.

If anyone can give some feedback it would be greatly appreciated. thanks

its not just u
u have the appropriate ps3 setup, wired, nat 2
try filter the game search with same region.
Full green bar means shit
and before any console warrior come to poke at ps3
discuss it here…

Yeah like stated above it’s not you. It’s just that the netplay in this game is garbage and unplayable.

Netplay is horrible, the input lag seems pretty bad in this game, meaning if you’re trying to up your game by playing online, more than likely it’s only going to hinder you rather than benefit you. Outside of a couple player matches I’ve played with friends, I haven’t even bothered, it’s that bad.

PSN be lyin’ to me. Look at player 2’s stats.

Haha, I ran into that the other day on PSN too.

This player was 17W/75L with a 16 game win streak. After the match was over the 17 wins turned into 189.

I am very surprised and how bad it is, i mess up on alot of combos for no reason. Capcom dropped the ball with mvc3’s online

I wish I could join in on the discussion but I can barely connect to people. 90 percent of the time it either says failed to connect blah blah or it just sits on searching forever. I’ve only got a few matches and most were pretty laggy. Don’t know if there is something wrong with my xbox or internet or if its just the game but I never had this problem like this till this game.

I gotta say, searching while in another mode (fight request) is the best way to get a match. Any time I enable it, I’m in a match in < thirty seconds, guaranteed. Also, the lag has been passable for a fighter on my end. Barely noticeable input lag, so I don’t really have any complaints there.
