MvC 3 Netcode

Ive never actually looked for a match, I just play arcade mode with fight request on, and most times when I get a match the lag isnt really that bad. Its never takin’ me more than 20 seconds of arcade mode to get a match either.

I freakin’ love the rematch option at the end of a match. All fighting games that are online should have that.

You said in the post prior that the inability to do 3D GGPO games is BS for a variety of reasons, and now you’re saying it’s either 2D GGPO or 3D shitty netcode? You have me confused.

As for gameplay over aesthetics: yes, but aesthetics matter. They may not matter to you, but they matter, and to more than just the “casual” gamer too. MvC3 looks the way it does for very good reasons. It just sucks that they didn’t design around GGPO from the get-go, which means a patched GGPO MvC3 is monstrously unlikely.

Best to hope for is that other 3D game makers use GGPO, proving Capcom’s excuses as bullshit. It’s already begun, so we have to pay attention and put pressure on Capcom in the coming years.

3d ggpo is currently untested. The first attempt, the dbz game, hasn’t produced any news about how the game is operating online. However due to how games like halo\cod\quak3\cs1.6 and source run online combined with what ponder has said, yea 3d games and ggpo can work together.

but from capcoms perspective, they think it doesn’t work so until 3d games are proven to work well with ggpo, the only way we can get ggpo from capcom is to reuse those sprites so ggpo can be implemented over it.

should of made that a bit clearer.

i give up on c.viper in netplay lol

It is possible that they used a pre-existing engine from somewhere else. Sometimes they just don’t have a choice about things like that.

Training mode: Fight req on. Region same.

This is the best way to get matches on mvc3. I tried it today and it was very fun, got some decent matches with good connections.

they ALWAYS have a choice. arcsys is about 100x smaller than capcom and they built BB from the ground up with great net code in mind. Now a company that has 10,000x less income than capcom can create a game from scratch with better net play and capcom can’t do the same?

bullshit. Even ponder out did capcom all by himself.

the fact of the matter is that capcom just doesn’t care about the net play. sf4 vc\mvc3 all use the same net code and its incredibly bad and for the record, no western developer has used that type of net code since 98-99. Its extremely out dated but it works well in Japan due to how their country is setup for the internet.

side note: my mvc3 net code thread on capcom unity is already on the 2nd page with only 15 posts in it. The megaman for mvc3 thread which started feb 4th is @ 350 posts and has never been dropped to the second page.

so we have big problems as a community. Scrubs are too vocal, the tournament scene isn’t vocal enough and Capcom of Japan can’t get their head out of their own ass to see the day light. The last 3 games from capcom, sf4 vc\mvc3 are all bad online and I haven’t seen 1 front page article on srk bringing up these factors. How are we supposed to change the nature of these games online if we can’t have constructive criticism where every player can read it?

Arcadia blew up kof for releasing sub par net play, I think members of the USA community should let capcom know the same. Your games suck ass online in the USA, please use something else. If its better here, its 100x better in Japan.

It is far more difficult to manage human resources within a large company than a small one.

Blazblue net play might be better than MvC3, but it’s still poor. In fact the game is built in several ways to work around netcode that hurts its offline play, such as the grab tech range.

management: hey guys, we need to make the game more like offline and dont use the ssf4 net code. Get on it? sounds pretty hard to me… stop making up random excuses for capcom. They’ve had a fucking decade to get the shit right and they haven’t tried 1 attempt on their own to make it better. If they can’t manage it within a fucking decade, that is a big ass red flag telling the rest of us they just don’t give a fuck if it sucks outside of Japan.

its all about a step in the right direction. I would rather see a new poor attempt rather than recycling an old attempt that was already proven shitty. The more the net code pushes forward, we get that much closer to actually receiving something good. As of now, capcom on their own has not tried a new net code since cvs2 on xbl. I highly doubt sf4 was “new net code” it plays exactly like HF\cvs2 did on OG xbox.

we’ve been stagnant for 10 years and even back then, games like counter strike\quake\UT weren’t using input delay based net code. They had already started to move forward and look where they are @ now. They are 100x further along the net code path than capcom is, all because with every release they kept trying to make it better where as capcom just keeps using the same.

This game hasn’t been in production for a decade.

And no, it isn’t as easy to code a game from scratch as you seem to think. The VAST majority of the games you play are built ontop of another game’s engine, AND FOR GOOD REASON. It is FAR too expensive to code everygame from scratch.

read it?

Prove it

go play the games online for yourself. Thats all the proof you need

3s on OG xbox live in playable via x360. look @ how much input delay that fucking game has and it came out pretty much right after cvs2.

The proof is already out there and I’ve seen it. Have you?

That doesn’t prove that reused a code from the 90s, that just shows the code they used/wrote is bad.

Are you serious? That’s what an R&D team is for. Capcom just isn’t putting any money towards the research. Either they don’t have the income (which i doubt) or they see that they can still get away with throwing garbage out there and having the public eat it up.

agreed. the vilification of Capcom on this issue is entirely justified. if a japanese company is going to develop a game. if the largest market for that game is in the US. if most of their consumers will play this game online not offline. one would expect a nickle and dime organization to possibly fail on this front due to a lack of resources, knowledge and experience. OTOH, one would think an international multi-million dollar company wouldn’t be so amateurish and not make online play one of their top priorities and ensure the product functions well in the US not japan.

lul

what the FUCK?? I just got disconnected 2-3 in a fucking row. is there anything going on?? Not to mention ONE and first ****** who rage quit on me??? Damn this game!

The online of this game is fucking frustrating. The matches are mostly fine, but getting one and especially a same rank as you is fubar. There are so many things they did bad. At the very least, why not make it like SSFIV? I mean, why do I have to constantly not get games and push buttons to keep trying…cant they just give me a lobby, let me wait til I get one I like (with a visible network strength gauge) and then play?

WTF were they thinking? lol

They were thinking they were going to make a ton of money whether or not they put any effort outside of the actual offline gameplay. They were right.

Only way a company like Capcom will listen to anything, is if it affects their wallets. The problem is, even if a mass amount of people DON’T buy the game completely based on netcode, it’s unlikely Capcom would point to that as the reason and change. More of a problem, would you be willing as a community to sacrifice a good game (just in the future), that happens to have bad netcode just to get the point across? Because that’s literally the ONLY way Capcom will listen. Sacrificing a bad game won’t do anything, because the game’s bad. The game has to be good with bad netcode.
