MvC 3 Netcode

I generally don’t have any problems with lag once I’m in a match (although it certainly is noticeable here and there), it’s actually finding the match that’s the problem. Usually it’ll take me a couple of tries to find anything at all.

I don’t know if the netcode is bad, but the inability to see the connection speed of people in Ranked Matches is a pain. 30% of people have a great connection (can easily link Zero combos), 30% have a decent connection (sometimes drop the combos or have to delay heavily) and the other 40% is just horrible lag.

I think that feature could be added and it would be very useful.

Seriously, are people that stupid? I played this one match in a lobby, obvious lag spikes, I message the guy after the match and ask if he is wireless, he says yes, then asks how I knew and I’m like uhhh…it’s obvious.

What goes through people’s heads? Do they just not care about having a playable experience? Is lag no big deal in other genres of online gaming?

F*$( green bars or whatever, the only thing I want to see is if they’re wired or wireless.

That would actually work too.

Nothing beats a wired connection but wireless can be solid for gaming with a strong signal. I’ve been forced to play on wireless since I moved into my new apt and the experience has been pretty much the same. I hardly ever get lag spikes in anything. I’m really only having input lag problems in marvel.

If it’s an inconsistent signal with microwaves and shit then thats another story lol. Also people streaming video, downloading and even web browsing on shared networks can cause lag spikes in fighting games regardless if you’re on wired or wireless.

Anyway, even with the best connection marvel is shit online anyway. It’s even worse than games like cvs2 from back in 2003 on the regular xbox. I’m talking input lag alone. You have to develop an autopilot lag mode play style to do well in online ranked games. I’m not fucking practicing a game with simulated lag just so I can run some gimmick rushdown/beam bullshit in a 1 and run game mode.

Fuck that, dial up cvs2 on dreamcast.

Why do they have to shove this matchmaking bullshit down our throat? I’m not braindead, give me a list of players and their nationality and strenght of their connection. Half the time I’m matched with someone from US and I know that delay is gonna be huge.
In other mm games on console I have always thought that the bs mm system matches me up with US players. How can it think that playin with connection to the other side of the world and overseas can be good?

They could have asked the HDR guys for some pointers on matchmaking but that’s a) way too progressive and b) not ethnocentric enough for Capcom Japan.

I’m glad this “Japanese devs know best” nonsense (from BOTH sides of the ocean) has been slowly disappearing over the last 15 years, but fuck it can’t be completely obliterated soon enough.

I’ve found online mode to vary from okay to horrible lag. Even when the connection is okay, I still find myself dropping some combos due to input lag, so I’ve been trying to stick to “simple” combos while online. Had a match today that had such horrible lag that I couldn’t even do an air combo with X-23 (S, M, M, … H doesn’t connect since I’m already on the ground).

Probably being in Hawaii doesn’t help me since everyone is pretty far from where I am!

Shouts to lag making Magneto spamming DISTUPTAH almost impossible to get through. Jeez.

Now that it’s died down and people connect normally (like I said several pages back when everyone was crying) it seems mostly ok. It’s online, what do you expect.

The window for combos is enormous so it’s really not an issue to do bnb, team aerial, etc combos. the only thing i can see having difficulty with is something like a fly combo or trying to accurately triangle jump like a maniac.

Wow. Input lag ruins the experience for people who actually know how to play.

why oh why do you give us shit, year after year? Is it because you know we have to play it because we desperately need something new? But in all honestly, I have only played 6 matches online and I got it 4 days before the game came out online. It wouldn’t be a big deal if I had more time and money to spend to play this game.

Hey if they bragged about it being good you could’ve actually taken that considering that both SSF4 and MVC2 had pretty good connection with not too many (and if there were you could tell because they were visible before you entered) lag problems. Capcom has had a pretty good track record with online play, so if we got bamboozled by this it was under a pretty good guise =/ I know I did
