Matchmaking is much worse in its current state.
Latency/lag/input delay is the same or better (more wired connections among ps3 360 owners may have something to do with that)

In the few matches where the lag was noticable, I was able to compensate pretty well. Granted, I didn’t win, but I probably wouldn’t have won on a perfect connection, anyways.
Guess I should count myself lucky.
Yea the netcode isnt that good. I notice it he most when Im trying to block attacks and they still hit me. Online features are pretty much barebone and no spectator mode really sucks when waiting in a lobby. I only create rooms for 2 people cause of this unless Im playing with a few of my good friends. What is up with not being able to see your connection with someone else? I dont get this. Anyways, Capcom really needs to patch the netcode and online features. Games feels barebone. Thank god I was never a huge fan of Marvel and SF4AE is just around the corner.
thats the worst thing about the netplay - people just pressing buttons, and i´m thinking about how thats even possible with that much lag. -.-
gg capcom for fucking up another game.
Ok, this seems like the right thread to post. Is anyone else finding it impossible to even get online at the moment? Every time I even go to offline mode even though I’m signed into PSN the game tells me I’ve lost connection to the network and kicks me back to the main menu.
You got 2 things going against you. Netcode is bad and you are on PSN. ZING!!!
Netcode has been just fine for me in matches, and I could not give less of a fuck what your fanboy opinion is on the service. Enjoy paying $60 a year for online.
Nothing bad happened playing online yesterday on Xbox. Not as much disconnects as I got on the day after release. Matches run smoothly when you get into one.
this type of players is our current problem with the online net code.
The netcode is just “fine” for me when in actuality, this netcode style has been in effects since 2000ish with fighting games and it has NEVER worked in America or most parts of the world well. It has NEVER worked and you would think that after a fucking decade, capcom would get it through their fucking skull.
all you guys who are saying the net code is fine are fucking up the community. The reason we keep getting shit ball net code is because you guys think its ok so capcom doesn’t have to try harder. Its like saying oh, its ok to play on a tv with 10+frames of input delay for this big ass 200man tournament. Its basically no different. Not when ggpo mimics offline play on a good connection 95% accurately where as this game can’t even mimic it nearly that well.
Most of my online play has been “acceptable.” Some games feel lagless, most have low or very low input delay. Get some unplayable games here and there. This is basically my experience with SSFIV as well.
I also played 500+ games at my local arcades before ever stepping online, so yes I know what input lag feels like.
Wow, assume harder. My TV has a 5ms response time, and I know a shitty connection. I’m not saying it’s the best netcode ever made, but it is not nearly as bad as most people claim it to be. And how is saying the NETCODE being decent ruining the community? If you gave a shit about the community you would be playing OFFLINE with everyone else, online is a bonus. If you’re having an issue with the netcode, learn how to set your region properly, get better internet, or just quit playing online all together, because there is nothing wrong with how it plays online.
I am gonna go hunting for all of Anemone’s early comments on online, reading those quotes are too funny.
hahahahahahahahahha
nothing wrong with the way it plays online. woooowwwwwwwww
looks like we will never get gggpo netcode…
haters gonna hate and scrubs will be scrubs.
there are many things wrong with how this game plays online. I play my friend who has cable internet (and I have some other extremely fast internet not sure what it is, probably cable or whatevers faster) who lives two towns away and its like playing someone in california. Playing offense isn’t much of a problem, because like everyone has said the execution is pretty easy. But trying to play defense where you press push block at the right time but instead its too late and get standing fierce, is retarded. The online in this game is trash, and somehow worse than the sf4 online.
This is EXACTLY WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH YOU. Read front page news, arcades are dying. People no longer have an interest in playing locals anymore. He gives a shit about the community becuase he, unlike you, knows that today’s world isn’t interested in what you have to say about offline making you a better player then online does, becuase that is fucking stupid. Online is NOT a bonus now, it was a bonus back then. Online now is REQUIRED if you want people to play your game. Online experiences determine whether people will continue to play the game believe it or not. Where he plays does not determine how he feels about the community, becuase he actally gives a shit about the people who live in the middle of nowhere with no local scene. Shoultzula has been around much longer then you and has probably done MUCH more for the community then you could ever manage.
If online was as irrelevant as you make it out to be, then fuck GGPO, becuase everyone treats it to be so irrelevant. Judging by your comment, your just someone who lurks and is trying to fit in based upon what a majority of people said about S/SF4 ONLINE. (Emphasized that for a reason) Get real and actually consider other people’s situation on offline community before you start spitting diarrhea out of your mouth.
Hmm, for me so far it’s not been great (dropping stuff like Wesker’s gun into 2b so much online ended up using an assist with it instead) but it does seem to be an improvement over SFIV and TVC.
So, wonder what game Capcom will put ggpo on next after that Final Fight port, I’m guessing maybe a new puzzle fighter remake or something, anything, but one of their bloody fighting games that need it.:clown:
Nominate for article. Well said dude. Not everyone has access to an offline community so the whole ‘if you don’t like lag, play offline because this is what you deserve’ attitude needs to stop.
I own both versions.
What’s really odd is the 400-500 matches I’ve played on XBL, I keep having the connection issues that everyone has been talking about.
Played about 10 Ranked Matches on PSN so far and I’ve connected to 9 of them on first try. So completely odd.
negative zero got it right, online is no longer a bonus any more. Its actually a fundamental part of the game much like versus or training mode is. This is why every game that is 2p\coop or a fighting game has some type of an online mode. This is the era of the internet which allows people to play online, its a HUGE selling point which I why Capcom probably keeps lying about their net code. I’m not sure if anyone remembers the article on the front page of SRK a month back where capcom self described their net code as lightning fast.
I can’t believe that guy told me to play in my own region lol. I tried playing with people in my own city and its just unplayable. We’re talking about less than 8 miles apart here. If you can’t get an offline experience in your own city, there is a HUGE problem with the game online.
I’ve learned games online solely from GGPO. The connection may not be perfect but its certainly 100x better than what mvc3 online is as ggpo doesn’t automatically go to a 6-10+frame input delay system. The ggpo system makes ALL games playable given you play someone relatively close on a good connection. Relatively close = less than 2000 miles. mvc3 can’t even go 8 miles w\o crapping out =*(
My statement has nothing to do with fanboy opinions. XBL is a better service for fighting games than PSN is. Thats just a fact. If you cant afford $60 a year then you need to go back to school or something. Enjoy your laggy games on PSN.
