Music Producers Thread v 3.0

Word?! I play at a little bar and grill in Apex every now and again. Place called Rudy’s Bar and Grill.

I acvtually mean 8, not 9 or 8.5 :bluu: to type happy heh

what do you use to DJ?? maybe you should use better quality exports of your tracks

Aiat, I’m stoked. Yeah, I’m buzzing on some chardonnay right now, but on the real, I’m about to get to recording some of my sax licks. I’m thinking I’ll either get some CD’s to play to or I’ll get some software and make my own band to play with. But, the thing is I gotta get back to playing. My wife just CRUSHED my dick for not ever playing for her since we got married. My chops are way soggy and I can’t even get 1 single altissimo out at this point. I used to be able to play up to 4th octave C. I’ve lost my speed as well, so I can forget about playing Giant Steps for now.

Anyway, I’m moving in two days and I get 6 months with a home studio until my daughter(?) is born and I wanna get some tracks made and I don’t even care how sloppy they sound. I’ll let yall know once I’m able to record on these cheap ass condensers I bought.

I have a friend who makes beats with FL studios.

http://www.youtube.com/user/lilnemoondeck#p/u/3/a80LM4xB3Bg

as for me, I never took the time to actually make any beats.

Well, what I’m noticing is that this happens in a bunch of other tracks that I have which are done professionally in the studio, so I think it’s the sounds (specifically those rich supersaw pads) that make a bit of a stutter when the BPM is increased.

I’ll have to post a sample sometime.

heyy guys i just started producing beats and its pretty fun.

i see some of you guys actually have talent.

soo check out my stuff. http://www.myspace.com/djfirmwood

oh yeah and if you have a myspace send a request.

peacee :wgrin:

No drum and bass?

Right now I’m running fl8 & protools le and little else but am saving up for an xmas gift for myself. Looking for a deso large diaphragm condenser, would like the 414 but anyone know anything cheaper?

Magesy still exists its just under a different name.

I didnt know there was a thread for this!! I have FL Studio 9 and i have a korg padKontrol midi studio controller, and a m-audio keyrig49 keyboard. Im looking to get a mbox 2 so i can get into using protools.

Also, U guys had a SRK Mixtape?!? any links to them? If u guys are interested we can start it back up. I rap/produce/songwrite.

Edit: Has Anyone Thought Of Having Like A Internet Radio Station? Like SRK Radio? that would be dope.

VirtualDJ. Google It.

Hey guys, heres a track I’m working on.

http://soundcloud.com/aa-kurtz/playtime-not-finished

Nice the begining wasnt too hot

but when the drums kicked in it sounded 10x better.

Yes, its supposed to build.

I like the flow of the track and the vocal manipulation to bring that “matrix” feel. I dig the progressive feel since I like that myself, but for me sometimes the track gets too busy/cluttered.

Anyone ever been in a big ass slump, then all of a sudden it’s like a fire was lit under your ass and you just go binge producing? That’s what happened to me since Thanksgiving. I worked on like 12 tracks and completed 8 (3 I gave up on in the past).

I put some new tracks up

Garlands - Hard bouncy kicks to lil more bouncy
Klizzilla Snap - Turned a throwaway track into something totally differrent. It became fun and a lil stupid
Ukizu - Simple “artistic” piece
K.W.A.K. - Another track I was stuck on. I was pretty much focused on the percussion only
Mad Piana - I need a better piano. :frowning: I use it to fill in the emptiness of the beat.

Good stuff.

I’m trying to clear out my backlog of unfinished stuff as well as re-do some tracks from before I didn’t like too much. Here’s some of what I did this weekend, none of these tracks are finished though because I don’t have any computer that has a line in for my keyboard and I still can’t figure out how to record via midi. :looney:

Anyway,

ABC
After Dark
Hollow

I like the moods of the songs. Maybe try to put the drums a lil more under the rest of track. I’m feeling the koto in “back to my roots”. I’m trying a new mixing style (I’m a lil too lazy to properly master) to stop sounding stuffy.

Love the fuzz, digging Digital Black the most. Got got nice drops.

Instrumental I made for a spoof Rap Track someone else will record called “Disregard Females, Acquire Currency”

Seems like everyone here is pretty cool.

Does anyone wanna get that srk mixtape back up?

YESS:lovin::lovin::lovin:

This is a single from my newest mixtape in which I produce every track but 1 (I rap on the one track that I don’t produce)…

This song is called “Punchline Wrappers” ft. Young D.R.U. & CERT

totally new to this but have been listening to hip hop since 86 and always wanted take a stab at makin some beats. I’ve nabbed FL 9 and some other PC apps, but really want some hardware. Was looking into the MC 808 but the Native instuments Maschine looks nice. Can anyone throw me some pointers or info on what is good ish? BTW, some good stuff in here. Also, did any of you enter the Vinnie Paz “Drag You to Hell” remix contest? The acappella is here
http://www.sendspace.com/file/23uil2 and the contest rules are on the JMT myspace. I think it ends on the 15th though  Been some pretty tight mixes done so far.
