Mugen Thread Not Bullshit free at all

Task, I’m trying to extract everything but it gives me a wrong password error for every file. the password is taskmugen isnt it?

Edit: nevermind. For some god awful reason my keyboard was switched to AZERTY

The file is split into two smaller files, put em together with HJ Split. (scroll up to V6 for thatm if you dont have it)*

So unrar the first 14 files. Then follow the instructions with the other files. They’re included with the DLs themselves

Hey Task thx for the upload but it seems i have a problem, after the looooong time it took to get all 14 pieces of your mugen pack i usedhjsplit made sure all the pieces were in a folder together watched it do the whole “joining process” and as i tryed to unzip i get an error and an “unexpected end of archive” which leaves only a char folder with 50 chars a read me about winmugen…any idea how i could sort it ive been dying to play this game and well if that wait was for nothing i think im going to weep…

You dont need anything.

Just download parts 1 through 14. Use HJsplit on it, to combine it in one file. Then use winrar on that file. Open the MUGEN folder, then open winmugen.exe

The other 3 files, the update packs, are optional. They contain extra levels, characters and music, as well as other minor enhancements. Instructions are included with the files.

After I downloaded the first 3 files (out of 14), I wanted to see how joining them works, so I clicked Join on HJsplit and looked for the files, however only the first of the 3 are recognized…

When I split one them, a bunch of files were created and when I clicked join on HJsplit I saw an additional thing I could join that was created from splitting.
Your description made it sound simple but its actually not? Please help?

Make sure you got the first 14 parts. Then make sure you got the right password “taskmugen”. Remember to select all 14 parts when unzipping

Yeah, that’s because you need all 14 files before joining them. Otherwise, it won’t work.

I had a bunch of problems at first. None of the stages would load so I just imported my own. After 2 days I realized I never downloaded part 11 and had part 12 twice. wow do I geel stupid.

Damn. Guess that’s how HJ splits them. I assumed nothing would work if you missed one part.

So, the other guys, make sure you have all the parts.

o0o…I get it now, the first file is the main file, because without it the other 13 files that follow can’t be joined! Yay I got it, I think…and thanks for hosting those characters, even though its RS. xP

ok i must be dumb >.> i rly wanna play this game but i just cant get it tp unzip i put all 14 pieces all acounted for all the right ones in a folder and click join. so now i should get a rar file to unzip right? well i have one i try to unzip it and it gets an error with like 10% of what u mentioned in page 11 and also the rar file is like 1.3 gig big but the unziped one isnt its got like nothing in it if you have any idea what im doing wrong tell me please and thank you

First of, punctuation is our friend. An absolutely wonderful friend.

Second: Check if you use the correct password “taskmugen”

You might have an old version of Winrar, download a new version from Rarlabs.

To be clear, first you need HJsplit. Check page 11 for that. Then Unzip it.

When unzipping, don’t use the .001, .002 etc files. Only the .rar file.

If that doesn’t help, I can’t help you.

So Just when I was almost done with getting all your files, I found a torrent…and It took the better part of a day to get. It’s over 3 gigabytes, has over 800 characters, and 50+ stages.

Yeah, this needs torrented pretty badly. Rapidshare makes me wait 2 hours between pieces. Having to come back 17 times over 4 days to download a game is pretty weak. Maybe you could split them up between Rapidshare, Megaupload, and Filefront, so we can download 3 at once?

I’m working on my own Mugen compilation as well. Instead of including a shitload of characters like these other games, I want mine to actually be a good game, balanced well enough that every character has a chance to win Arcade Mode, and be a decently balanced 2 player game as well. Not sure if I’ll make it public, but if I do, it’ll be with the split-up method above. It’s currently at version 0.7 using the World Warriors X screenpack and 3s lifebars. I have 36 characters and 36 stages assigned roughly 1 to 1. Here’s my characters so far, but I still have to find some more good characters that fit:

Don’t ask me for individual characters, I got most of them off other people’s torrented games anyway.
