Mugen Heads the wait is over CTRL ALT DEL 2 is here!

This is so fucking retarded.

No one gives a shit about MUGEN “creators.” When they pull their shit from the net, people will give a shit about them even less. If they had the intelligence to put all their shit on one large MUGEN megasite, instead of demanding that they download their characters from each of their one billion shitty Tripod sites, this would have been avoided.

^ BP what’s your avatar from?

Where you get it from isnt the issue BP. Its altering the files, and claiming them as yours thats the problem.

Theres whole sections devoted to “Requesting” characters, so its not hard at all to get shit you dont have. Nice going mssing the whole issue BP. =P

I’m aware of how Mugen works. I’m aware of how annoying the character creation is. And I’m aware of all the boring text-based tedium. (Yeah, and there isn’t a single custom-made sprite in the entire RM community >.> don’t be hatin’ on them, it isn’t all recolored SNES sprites) And I’m aware of how people get their stuff ripped off when they complete it. Yeah, it’s flat-out wrong when people take their names off people’s work, or when people do a sprite-swap and claim it’s purely their own. Yeah, that’s wrong.

But things were made definitively exclusive to the creator. It wasn’t shared and it wasn’t anyone else’s and it was entirely unusable. It was a plane that rained tootsie rolls into NYC that nobody was allowed to eat, and if you ate it, you had to be a sneaky little bitch about it. I just think that if things had started out differently, with people actually working together and sharing their work, things wouldn’t have ended up as hostile as they are now.

everyone shut the hell up god damn! >.< go outside for a little while. ride a bike. see what the sun looks like cause you guys must not have seen the light of day in years. you have no life to be argueing and bitching so seriously over this. go play outside for a while and calm down and then come back and say sorry. you guys are too old to be argueing so childishly like this >>

To the creator of the topic

What the Mugen Creators are trying to say is that you are acting kind of like a internet seach engine… You compiled the data but you didn’t actually make the websites that you compiled… and you did not mention the authors of the websites…

What the Mugen Creators want is you to 1. Ask them if it’s alright to compile/edit/host etc. their works… and 2. Give them credit…

Relavent to websites…and such, in a search engine the websites are reached because of the meta tag in the beginning of the html code. If there is no meta tag… then it doesn’t want to be found…

get it?

I dont have time for this anymore, I had a nice helpful post, with massive linsk to tutorials, live help forums, tools needed, and even a TEMPLATE character, that is widely available, and comes with every mugen program downloaded (guess whom it is), and all you would nee to do is take the first step and you could pump out yoru very own characters, but fuck that. You all will realized how fucked you really are once the community dries up, and no one is releasing things for you to steal, alter, and claim as yours. Good bye.

Hmmm… this sounds like alot of hypocritical bitching to me. Do you know how much time goes into a Capcom character or SNK character? Drawing each sprite, making sure that everything fits well together. I rarely see any M.U.G.E.N character with credit to the original designer or artist. They just rip sprites and code it into M.U.G.E.N’s engine. Sure, coding takes alot of time (I’d say a good 20 hours for a below average, untested character), but they are the last people who should be bitching about being taken from without credit being given.

You dont know what the fuck your talking about. All creators credit original sources in their readme’s, you butts just dont read them, and leech characters, and/or delete the files alltogether.

But nice try dumbass.

Yea, go offline El Stupid.

Congratulation, with this, now there’s nobody left to actually create something new in Mugen. Enjoy your dead world kthxbai.

The Mugen creation community goes ONE way, and you’re not the ones who are above. Users are at the end of the chain, not the beginning, therefor their opinion does not matter. EOD.

Oh? You must download special characters where the “creators” actually give credit to the characters artist, and not just “By Capcom” or “From Guilty Gear XX”. Because I do read the readme’s of every character I download (to learn if there are any bugs I should look for and to know about any move differences)… And as a matter of fact, I’m looking at some readme’s from the most popular MUGEN “creators” characters right now. I see nothing other than then name of the coders.

And I thought you said goodbye? Oh well. But nice try dumbass.

Its over, stfu. And I mean Goodbye, as in your done, its over, no more help from anyone.

Its a really funny issue, that has been debated to death by both sides. It basically comes down to this:

  1. MUGEN creaters take the hard work of somebody else, put a minimal (compared to the original creators) amount of work into something, and make their own version of the character for MUGEN. Then they post in on their website, for the world to use, and demand that they own the rights to this character and nobody else can use/distribute/modify it.

  2. Warehousers want to provide the most amount of character to their visitors with the least amount of work. Instead of expecting people to spend hours searching down characters, they want to give them instant gratification. You know, being the internet, they want to give the information to people in a concise way, by hosting each character. The downside is that character updates sometimes dont get uploaded, and you are using an old character that the artist feels does them no justice (which is ironic, considering they felt that version was good enough to release in the first place).

  3. Average Joe, who wants to find out more about mugen, must now either go to a warehouse site to get good characters easy, or join a community which bitches about people stealing their stolen work and points them to dozens of old, outdated, broken tripod sites.

MUGEN is comparable to the open source community. Each character is open source when it is distributed. In the open source community, sharing/modifying/using other peoples projects is encouraged. Its how the scene grows. In the MUGEN Community, people treat it as the end of the world.

The whole problem would be rectified if the MUGEN community made one main website, and gave each creater their own webspace to host characters on it, and then via one search engine you could get access to all the characters they wanted, and allow people to update their characters there. That would put warehousers out of business. But until that time, the warehousers are better for the end user, so they’re going to get use.

I personally laugh whenever a creator quits because his work is widely available on the internet. Fuck them, IMHO. Anybody who wastes their entire life creating characters for MUGEN is retarded anyway. MUGEN is a stepping stone for creators to get involved in a real video game project (www.gamedev.net is always making projects, hell we’re making a fighting game right now at http://www.shortbuskidsfunhouse.com/projectshobu/ , etc) and get some experience, which is all that its worth.

It’s fucking MUGEN. The engine is simple, boring, broken, and fun for about 2 hours.

“Your done”? You mean YOU’RE done, I do not have ownership of “done”.

Get Owned Faggot!

SHUT DOWN!!! lol

Spoken by Roll, on MUGEN Guild. Best post ever.

Roll has a good idea, it’s just too damn bad that the rest of MUGEN Guild doesn’t practice what he or she preaches.

http://mugenguild.com/forumx/

Read around for a while. You will get an idea what a good deal (not all) MUGEN creators on that board are really like.

I mod there (or used to rather). I know who is like what. And I dont know what creators you are talking about. All the ones who are closing down/complaining, are all in agreeance. One mind rather.

Excuse me but I wouldn’t exactly take Guild as a reference for a place where creators gather and have an OPPORTUNITY to talk normally without having someone bitch about their decision.

go to a place where creators don’t have any problem with leechers to begin with, and watch how they do. they help each other, they gie useful comments about creations, they make thing better, no war between them because when someone wants to use something, he’s polite enough to ask, and the other naturally accepts because he’s not a dick. When you don’t bother them, they evolve, they do useful stuff, they make it so that things become better.
Throw a troll and you get a drama. But you don’t get one if you don’t get a troll to begin with. We have high standards ? Yeah, so what ? So we’re elitist bastards ? Not really, we just want to make our stuff without trolls bothering us for nothing.

Of course you never saw any of this since you take as a reference a place that’s full of people who, uh, don’t ask to begin with. which is what leads to UNLIMITED DRAMA WORKS.
