iirc one year there were like 26 chuns lol. this is probably a record low for top tier usage. second place team was awesome not just because of their characters, but because each player contributed so much to the team. replace any one of them with somebody else and they probably wouldn’t have gone that far. it’s rare to see that.
I question the birth of this thread now. It’s not like these aren’t [S]gods deities[/S] amazing players winning tournaments with great characters. (Kuroda and his Oro… Lol).
You also have to consider the possibility that a lot of the top players that aren’t character specialists avoided using top tiers because they find it boring, and instead chose the characters they like the most (that are also somewhat competitive). When you’ve been playing and mastering a game for 10+ years playing only one character would probably get boring eventually.
I think the game is still evolving, I heard Hugo is solid mid/mid high now?

Chun Li is one of the most fun characters in the game and so is Yun. Tiers mean dick. Almost every person who has played Chun or understands her set ups thinks she’s fun as hell.
I think Chun is boring and Chun mirror matches the biggest snorefest this game has to offer.

Chun is powerful, we get it. Lots of Chuns in competitive play means we see a lot of the same thing over and over.
Chun v Chun can be pretty hype. In a matchup like that, it’s more about outplaying your opponent meaning, finding out who is the better player.
