Mr. Wizard was right, this game is all about Chun/Yun/Ken

Oh, see Nuki with Ken occasionally. Forgot about Spellmaster J and Keeper. Nice to know Chinta is still playing, since i had heard he stopped playing awhile ago.

Never change, 3S zombies…you’re living proof of the power of denial on the human psyche.

Honestly, it’s unfair to put Kuroda in that list. Her’s easily the best 3rd Striker, in my opinion. And could use any of the cast and win. I’ve seen dude use Q against Makoto and make it look one sided.

EDIT: Just dropping this. No need to add gasoline to a little spark.

Surprised No necro, Oro or Urien. I wish 3s was still played In USA :(…

where are the archives?

Kuroda(OR), Boss(YU), MOV(CH)

good plan.

Xiao was on J’s team that got second place in the second SBO tournament; they beat boss/KO/nuki, but got swept by Spellmaster J.

Oops for some reason I thought he was using Q HAHAHA…

The game being “all about” YCK is pretty much a fallacy. The balance isn’t so bad that there’s no reason to play the other characters. Just like any game you can play who you want and have success. Your successes will obviously occur more often with the top 3 but there’s a reason Genki, Kuroda, Xiao and others are gods of the game without using YCK.

You know how a sheep’s brain works it just follows the flock. As soon as a top player or someone notable from the community says something its automatically true no matter how much experience he has with the game or how good he is at it.

This game has been dominated by chun, yun and ken only in the US for a couple of years since the mentality back then was easy and sure win over learning every game mechanic you can which has changed nowdays.

Ranking battles, co-op cups, east vs west war and tournaments iv seen countless of times where a low, mid tier or high tier char that isn’t one of the 3 above is used to just destroy everyone. And now its even proven in the highest of levels of play that you don’t need to pick a high tier character to win.

Its like saying if boss had chosen gouki or makoto instead of yun he would have automatically lost which is just not true because he is a damn beast using both of them. And that’s how I think most fg’s are with the exception of games like mvc2. If you are dedicated enough to learn everything about your character and learn everything the game has to offer your chances of winning are always high.

It is, which is why I didn’t say it.

Nobody ever said you couldn’t win or enjoy the game with other characters. Even James Chen’s original quote didn’t imply that. The truth is however the game is dominated by the top tier. Great. I see no reason to deny this. Most games at the highest competitive level will devolve in to a selection of the best characters. (Marvel 2) It doesn’t make those game any less great, yet there is always seems to be some kind of 3s community backlash when somebody points out how powerful the top tier in this game is.

I say what does it matter?

Up until Kuroda’s win with Akuma, every SBO was won with a combo of 4 characters - Chun, Yun, Ken and Mak.

Why would we even wanna dredge this up, can’t it just be, oh hey look these dudes won and it was awesome.

American havea sucha biga penis.Japanese penisa so sma

I understand what you did and didn’t say, I just threw it out there for anyone else.

Yeah the matchup list is dominated by YCK but the actual game in practice…not so much especially as of late.

It really doesn’t matter either way though. People celebrating other cast placing high…that’s all it should be really.

3S players must look like pyramid schemers to you. LOL.

No Twelve in top 4. Unbalanced shitty game. :frowning:

…really, though, where’s Yamazaki? He still play?

This [player playing] Chun Yun and Ken, is all about the game. Damn, watch how they play and take care of everything. Some people play only off of the strength of the character and can be lacking in many areas. These guys show their knowledgeable skills and true mettle even vs another Chun Yun or Ken. You can see the difference.

There certainly were way more Ibukis this year than you would expect. Take a look at how their teams stacked up. Take a look at the list of characters by # of entries to find interesting - to you - how there are this many of this character you like or would not expect. At least you’re taking a look at 3s again!

>> Tougeki 2012 Qualifiers and Results – [S]Streams and archives you must find elsewhere.[/S] AStream archive is in there, lucky you!

Ken (Chun too… Yun lil less maybe,) [details=Spoiler]he still has to get meter and a hit and do it all over again, also sounds like Chun…[/details]
doesn’t just destroy everybody off a few flowcharts to follow; the person playing actually has to be a solid player to use Ken’s skills well as he doesn’t just outright win every matchup, whether you know how & why they win a matchup or not. He ain’t no Sagat/Fei long… This year’s SF4 2nd place team looks pretty cool, how supposed low tier those guys are placed. Shirtless actor man, Thai-ger-man, and chinese kid wish they were Dignified Psychic Ninjas.

And yo that art in the OP looks like it got rebalanced by Sirlin

What are they trying to do to the beautiful game…

Wow, I am so out of the loop. Is there a stream or footage up or something?
