"Movie And A Show" Thread: Popcorn Optional

Aladdin was a lot better than all the promotional material made it out to be.

Awesome set pieces, awesome costumes, awesome locations. Naomi Scott killed as Jasmine. She was smart, confident, funny, and she’s extremely beautiful. She is pretty much what I imagined live action Jasmine to look like. Her outfits were absolutely gorgeous. Will Smith brought enough of his Will Smith-ness to make Genie his own. For better or for worse. It came off a lot better in the movie than it did in promotional material.

My main complaints are some of the set pieces and characters, namely Raja were really badly done. Like there were a lot of obvious green screen moments which kinda took me out of it a few times.

Another complaint is how absolutely flat the actor was who played Jafar. He wasn’t really menacing, he wasn’t really charismatic, he was just a dude playing a villain. He didn’t try to make it his own, in my opinion.

Lastly the actor who play Aladdin wasn’t really that charismatic or have that innocent charm that his animated counterpart did. You could tell he was really, really trying to bring those aspects of Aladdin to life but most of the time it just didn’t work for me.

Still. It’s a decent live adaptation.

Would you say you’re now a Naomi fanboy now?

I’m pretty sure this is my first experience seeing her act. I don’t know anything else she’s been in. But as of now: Yes. I will stan for her, fight for her honor and protect that gorgeous smile.

She definitely looks like Mia Khalifa in some angles lol

I looked up Naomi Scott for…research didn’t realize she was Kimberly Ann Heart in the Power Rangers movie. I knew she looked super familiar I just couldn’t figure out why.

She was a great Kimberly. She ain’t no Amy Jo Johnson aka my forever wife even if she doesn’t know it. But she was a great Kimberly.

If they do end up making a sequel they need to someone to play Tommy who can measure up to her hotness. Kimberly and Jason is not a ship I want. Give me the best ship. The Tommy and Kimberly ship!

Orrr he’s just a generally positive person in general.

You can be positive and still be critical about something. It’s not like it’s hard or a daunting task.

Your automatic response is he’s a shill. Which he isn’t, just because he’s positive doesn’t make him a shill. He is critical about stuff but overall he’s more positive than anything about the stuff he watches.

i saw MFKZ a couple days ago.

First Blood (Rambo 1) is def the best of the series and actually a great movie to watch on its own. They changed the ending from the books but eh I think still works. The BGM killed
Rambo 2 is a typical 80s action movie with great action scenes and nothing else of merit. It is a decent watch
Rambo 3 is fucking awful and I’m a Rambo fan
Rambo (Rambo 4) is a fuckin bloodfest and almost a gift to Rambo fans. I would say is also kinda decent as a standalone movie.

Looking forward to Rambo killing mexicans lol

I honestly prefer the original ending to Rambo as it makes him a martyr and is a self-contained masterpiece. The other films are almost comically absurd. After 9/11 the idealistic nature of Rambo 3 must be embarrassing.

The premise of the new Rambo sounds awfully similar to 2013’s ‘The Last Stand’ starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Beyonce as Nala

The more they release, the less interest I have in it.

Is there any point to the live actions though? The impressions I always get from people are like “valiant effort, but the cartoon was still better”.
