Anyone hype for the Deadwood movie next week? I’m watching the series again in preparation. Never fully understood why they cancelled it.
i mean i never read the manga and those fucking trades were thicc. so im wondering how much of the story was lost in trying to translate it into an anime movie. I do remember specifically the manga building art was crazyyy. i think the creator might have been an archetech in a previous career…cause the way he drew buildings was amazing.
I do not particularly like anything from Ghibli, but do commend them on their defining art style. However, their films fail to be entertaining and follow characters that are either too absurd or too boring to be missed. They seem to make generic and uninsightful messages the priority and shit on the moment to moment story/character development. That includes ‘My Neighbor Totoro’ and every other production I have seen from them.
Thats quite the hot take lmao.
Grave of the Fireflies is just a generic message over forgetful characters hahahaha.
Given the things I have read and experienced the tragedy it depicts is about as eventful and impactful as a drop of rain falling into an ocean. There are far more vivid and moving real life stories of people suffering from war, revolution, and government mismanagement.
It’s fascinating what a disgusting piece of shit you are.
Watched Aladdin over the weekend. Hmm, animated version is better obviously but to my surprise it wasn’t bad. I personally don’t like Will Smith but to be fair he did well on this one, and this is from someone who doesn’t like his acting. He is no Robin Williams but was fine as Genie. My concern was Aladdin’s charisma in the 1992 movie is not translated into the live action. Also Jafar is not half the menacing bad dude he was. On the plus side, Jasmine looks fucking fine as hell and gets more presence than the original one. Songs stayed faithful and were good, this was very important for me cause old school disney movies had a certain charm to their songs. My favorite is the entrance of Prince Ali to Agrabah
Watched John Wick 3 last night.
Amazing.
Just got back from Aladdin. Thought it was fun. Jafar needed to be Ian McShane and it would have been great.
If Ben Kingsley hadnt played a similar character in Prince of Persia, I would have thought he would be a great Jafar.
But since hes a biracial Indian/White actor and not Middle Eastern, some people would be upset even though he’s an Oscar winner.
Lol most people don’t even know he’s part Indian and got mad when he played Indian roles.
I really enjoyed Aladdin. Someone compared it to the Broadway play here and I think that’s super accurate. It’s more like the movie version of that and less the cartoon.
Looking at the movie’s production aspect, it’s a pretty apt description.
Annabelle is coming…again.
I refuse to see that movie. It’s trying to reboot a franchise where it’s original continuity is still ongoing plus not involving any of the core people who have helped establish that said continuity.
Mark Hamill or not. I refuse to see or support that shit.
Best Buy has a steelbook copy of the Alien Anthology for 39.99. It’s worth that price for the first two movies alone. However, owning the other four is the problem.
Hellboy reboot flopped…
At least we know there will not be a sequel.
Sorta… Netflix is in talks to do a hellboy show
