Didn’t even know this was happening. Neat
Black nerd comedy mentioned the speed during songs. He suggested that they may have filmed the scene first and was given the song later and they just didn’t match up with normal speed.
Aladdin and all other Disney remakes are not only a simple way to make money the lazy way but to “modernize” anything that could be deemed offensive these days and add in some subtle social issue they want to (IE not subtle) remind you of.
Aweful.
nothing about this movie was really lazy. really good looking set pieces, some good dance numbers. they put in some serious work
I don’t think it’s lazy in the fact that people didn’t work hard on it. It’s seen as lazy because the overall core movie is already there. All they have to do is basically trace and color inside the lines. They can switch a few of the colors just so it fits a broader range of sensibilities, but that’s really about it. I’m sure it’s not going to be “bad” if they just follow the rules of the story.
The only one of these remakes that could be something spectacular is Mulan. There is no way that some of the magic in some of these scenes in the traditionally animated movies would look better in a photorealistic presentation.
it’s lazy to remake a movie that your own company already made and was already beloved by your fans. MAYBE remake it 50 years from now when a few generations have left this earth.
With The Lion King, it just seems like that one especially is going to be a shot for shot remake. There is no way the color pallet is going to make any of the more vibrant scenes work. Beauty and the Beast did it in for me. It wasn’t “bad” but the animated film did everything in the movie better.
I will admit, The Jungle Book was actually pretty decent, but it also wasn’t a 1:1 remake and the set pieces yielded itself for a photorealistic representation.
I won’t watch lion king. The realistic look of the animals make it hard for me to feel that attachment that the more expressive animation can convey. I want to be proven wrong though
Honestly, never though Akira was all that. I remember hearing the hype about it as kid. Watching it and being like…this is what everyone is talking about. First disappointing anime I saw.
From a technical standpoint Akira is light years ahead of its contemporaries. The stuff they did in the 80s had you thinking computers were really good back then but it was all hand drawn. The way the light trails from the bikes and other aspects were mind blowing.
The story is OK, it’s more the technical stuff from designs to animation are what make Akira so legendary. I don’t think anyone has ever said it had an amazing story… It was good for its time
It’s Avatar of the anime world. Story is pretty meh but it sure is pretty to look at.
I can’t imagine Scar giving the same level of presence in this movie.
OMG i just saw Brightburn and…
Summary
I felt bad for the kid! It seemed like he was being manipulated/reprogrammed by the ship! He seemed to be growing up just fine but, i guess once a certain age is reached, the ship kicks in with it’s crazy techno/telepathic Programming!
My thought is…what if the ship was destroyed or damaged too much upon landing? The parent’s mentioned that he never once bled growing up, so he always had his powers. If only the ship was inoperative or destroyed, he may have grown up a proper hero, and not had his mind hijacked.
I was not that blown away by the ‘Akira’ animated film either. The character interactions were awful and the plot was messy. The only well made animated film I have seen from Japan is Miyazaki’s ‘The Castle of Cagliostro’.
Mannn I dunno what to tell you. You don’t really get animation then if that’s only well made Japanese movie to you.
I can do with 1920’s animation as long as the story and visual style is appealing. I don’t know why most writing I have seen from Japan is amateur tier and characterization is relatively poor. That is not even going into dumb tropes most of their work falls into.
You don’t like anything from Ghibli?
You telling me you got something against My Neighbor Totoro?
FTFY.
Not hating on Totoro. They’re all pretty much amazing movies. My favorite just happens to be Porco Rosso.
